After a two-week observation period, we have reached a conclusion regarding whether Zhou Liang should stay or not.
It's already March, but the weather hasn't warmed up yet; it's still very cold.
At 7 PM, I, Pu Weichao, Fei Lichao, Chen Shen, Yan Zhengfeng, and Lu Jing...
The six of us squeezed into the dormitory room. In the center of the room was a stove with a fire burning inside and a pot of water simmering on top.
After the water boiled, we each made a cup of tea.
"Tell me your impressions of Zhou Liang. Half a month has passed, so it should be pretty clear by now," Pu Weichao asked bluntly.
"Let me go first." Lu Jing was wrapped in a blanket and holding a warm teacup in her hands.
We turned our attention to her.
Lu Jing said, "From the few days I've known him, he seems to be a very polite person, and he doesn't seem like a bad person. He's quite outgoing. Once, when I saw zombies outside the school and wanted to go out and kill some, he wouldn't let me go over, but he went out and killed some himself. Anyway, I have a pretty good impression of him."
I nodded; Lu Jing's words were quite conventional.
Pu Weichao said, "Let me tell you what I saw. At first, my thoughts were similar to Sister Jing's. He was a good person. But after getting to know him better, I found that he was a bit scheming and very talkative. He was always testing our relationship. My evaluation of him is half and half. He can stay, but it will take time and testing to gain his trust."
Chen Jing then said, "I don't have much to say. My feelings are similar to Pu Weichao's."
Pu Weichao looked at the three of us who remained and asked, "What about you? What are your thoughts?"
Fei Lichao spoke first, "Let me start. Well, this kid has a bad temper, and he's not like a student. Every time I talk to him, I get confused by his words. That's what annoys me the most. How can a student talk so shrewdly?"
"So, you think we can't trust them?" Pu Weichao asked.
Fei Lichao frowned: "It's not that we can't trust them, it's just that, as you said, it takes time."
Pu Weichao smiled: "It seems we all have similar thoughts. Lao Yan, Xiao Nan, what about you? What are your thoughts?"
I glanced at Yan Zhengfeng, who shook his head and said, "This person is not trustworthy."
Everyone was stunned; Yan Zhengfeng was the first to voice his objection.
Pu Weichao asked in surprise, "Tell me, what is it about not trusting me?"
Yan Zhengfeng's daughter: "I can't explain it, it's just my intuition. It's like when I first saw Dr. Lu in the air-raid shelter, I couldn't trust him. Maybe my thoughts are wrong, so don't worry about my opinion."
Pu Weichao raised an eyebrow. "You're quite direct. Xiaonan, what about you? What's your opinion?"
After thinking about it and listening to everyone's opinions, I said, "Actually, you've all said what I wanted to say, so I don't have anything to add. However, regarding the matter of trust, I could test him a bit."
Everyone looked at each other, not understanding what I meant.
"Test? How do you want to test him?"
Pu Weichao was also curious.
I smiled and said, "It's a very simple method."
...
Two days later, around 8:30 in the morning.
I got dressed, took a machete and tucked it into the sheath at my waist, and took out a pistol and two magazines full of bullets from under my pillow.
After I got ready, I went out and went to Zhou Liang's room on the second floor, and knocked on his door.
"Who is it?" Zhou Liang asked from inside.
"It's me," I said.
Zhou Liang opened the door, his hair was a little messy, and he was wearing a sweater but no coat. When he opened the door, the cold wind from outside rushed in, making him shiver.
"What's up?"
I went inside, closed the door, and said, "Let's get dressed first. We're going out today."
Zhou Liang took his coat off the bed and put it on, then crossed his arms and looked at me with a puzzled expression: "Go out? Where to?"
I said, "Do you remember the question I asked you two weeks ago?"
"Wang Luyao?" Zhou Liang exclaimed in surprise.
About two weeks ago, I asked him if he knew Wang Luyao. Zhou Liang said he did, because Wang Luyao was his girlfriend's roommate. They weren't familiar with each other at first, but they got to know each other later.
Now that we know each other, things will be easier.
I nodded: "Yes, Wang Luyao, I'd like you to take me to Jiajiang College. I want to go and have a look around."
Zhou Liang's eyes darted around, seemingly a little resistant, and he said, "But, Jiajiang Academy is definitely full of zombies now, there are no living people. Even if we go, wouldn't it be a waste of time? And what if Wang Luyao is already dead?"
I took two steps closer to him. Zhou Liang was about my height. I looked him straight in the eye. "I don't care if she's dead or alive. I have to find her. If you help me this time, I'll help you find your parents next time, okay?"
Zhou Liang bit his lip, took two steps back, and frowned as he pondered, probably considering the pros and cons of the matter.
After a while, he suddenly looked up and asked, "Wait, there's something I need to ask clearly, otherwise I won't take you to Jiajiang Academy to find Wang Luyao."
"Go ahead and ask."
Zhou Liang swallowed hard, blinking rapidly, and asked, "You weren't lying to me about going to find Wang Luyao, were you?"
Upon hearing his question, I immediately understood what he wanted to ask, and then laughed and said, "Why would I lie to you?"
