"You surnamed Zhou, are you crazy! Why did you hit me! Are you out of your mind?!" Lu Ding roared.
Ignoring his screams, Zhou Liang continued to punch and kick him relentlessly, each blow landing squarely. At first, Lu Ding could still curse in pain, but later all he could do was scream in agony, showing just how hard Zhou Liang was hitting him.
Ludin's disfigured face was ruined again, becoming bloody and gruesome under the flashlight beam.
I frowned, not wanting to look at it.
"Why, why, why..."
After Zhou Liang stopped, Lu Ding asked weakly.
I also really want to know why. Although I had a guess in my mind, I wanted to hear Zhou Liang tell me the reason himself.
Zhou Liang shook his sore hands, didn't answer, turned to look at us, his face splattered with blood, and his smile was ferocious.
"I'm sorry, I was a little out of line just now."
Pu Weichao, still frowning, said, "We've had enough of beating him, why not just kill him?"
Zhou Liang glanced at the unwilling Lu Ding and laughed, "What's the rush?"
Pu Weichao stared at him, remaining silent.
Lu Ding, standing behind Zhou Liang, roared again, "Why! Zhou, Zhou Liang, you beast! Answer me!"
Zhou Liang raised an eyebrow at Pu Weichao, "I think you're right. We should just kill him. Otherwise, this idiot is too noisy."
"Whatever you say," Pu Weichao said.
Zhou Liang turned around to face Zhou Liang again and said, "You want to know? Fine, I'll tell you why I killed you. It's simple. Do you remember what you did to me when I was tied up in your garage? Besides hitting me, you tried to cut off my fingers. I said then that I would definitely kill you. Do you understand now?"
Ludin's eyes were still filled with confusion. Of course he remembered that incident, but he was thinking about other things. "Then, then why, why did you still want to cooperate with me? You could have just killed me, why did you do this to me!"
Zhou Liang smiled and patted his swollen cheek, "Because you're stupid."
Lu Ding didn't understand and wanted to ask more, but at that moment Zhou Liang pulled out a pistol from behind him and pointed it at Lu Ding's head.
Ludin was terrified and began to beg for mercy: "No, no, no, please don't kill me, I beg you..."
Zhou Liang didn't fire. Instead, he turned to look at me and Pu Weichao, and asked with a smile, "What do you two think? Should I give you a chance? After all, this guy is your mortal enemy. You should be the ones killing him. Lu Xiaonan, why don't you kill him?"
I really can't understand what Zhou Liang is trying to do.
Seeing that I didn't speak, Zhou Liang asked Pu Weichao, "Why don't you do it?"
Pu Weichao's face was very pale, but he was decisive. He raised the pistol in his hand and pointed it at Lu Ding's head.
"No, no, no—"
Bang!
While Lu Ding was still begging for mercy, Pu Weichao pulled the trigger, leaving a gaping hole in Lu Ding's head from which blood flowed. He died with his eyes open, unable to close them in peace.
I reckon he died without ever understanding what was going on.
I looked at Lu Ding's corpse, then my gaze shifted to Zhou Liang, and I thought this man was terrifying.
He had everything under control, including Ludin's death.
Even if Pu Weichao saw through all of this, he had no power to change it.
"Tsk tsk tsk, not bad, not bad, Pu Weichao, you really didn't disappoint me." Zhou Liang laughed happily, then looked at me, "Lu Xiaonan, you just overthink things. Why do you think so much when you're clearly not very bright? Really. Learn from Pu Weichao, be more decisive."
Pu Weichao stared at Zhou Liang, his eyes cold, and said, "Now that Lu Ding is dead, what do you want to do? Speak."
Zhou Liang nodded. "Yes, it's time to settle the score."
Pu Weichao frowned. "What do you mean?"
Zhou Liang raised an eyebrow. "It means settling accounts, what else could it mean? Let me put it this way, apart from Lu Ding, all these people kneeling on the ground right now are my men, you understand?"
I was stunned. Although I had guessed this a long time ago, it still felt unreal when Zhou Liang said it himself. When did he have so many people helping him?
Zhou Liang said, "Many of these people were saved by me, and then they risked their lives for me. Basically, all of them obeyed my orders, and no one objected. That's why I lent them to Lu Ding. But you know what? I don't want any of them to die. After all, they are all my people. Pu Weichao, I think you understand what I mean."
"Understood!" Pu Weichao said through gritted teeth.
I frowned, staring at the two corpses on the ground, and suddenly realized what Zhou Liang wanted to do.
Before Zhou Liang appeared, Pu Weichao shot and killed someone next to Lu Ding in order to force Lu Ding to tell the truth.
Zhou Liang's words at this moment clearly indicated that he wanted to help this person get justice.
Zhou Liang's next words confirmed my suspicions: "The man you just killed was named Zhang Bo, twenty-seven years old. He used to be a supervisor at a factory. A twenty-seven-year-old supervisor is quite capable, and you killed him."
Pu Weichao said, "And then what? Do you want to avenge him? Kill me?"
Zhou Liang chuckled, not answering directly, "Revenge is a given, but if I just kill you, it won't be fun, won't it?"
Pu Weichao frowned and said, "Zhou Liang, I'm warning you, if you dare to kill any of us, you won't leave here alive today! Even if you have other people lying in ambush around you, you're standing in front of me now, standing among my men, you have nowhere to escape."
Zhou Liang laughed and said, "Okay, okay, I'll take that as a threat."
Pu Weichao raised his pistol and pointed it at Zhou Liang's head. "Do you believe I can kill you right now? After you die, do you think your men will still avenge you?"
Zhou Liang tilted his head and laughed, "They definitely won't, but I also won't let you kill me, because you wouldn't dare."
Pu Weichao sneered: "Hmph, you're not me, how do you know I wouldn't dare?"
Zhou Liang raised an eyebrow, his eyes filled with disdain. He looked up at the tall building behind us, pointed at it, and said, "I remember you have binoculars, right? You can take a look at the rooftop of that building behind you. After you see it, I reckon you won't dare kill me."
Upon hearing this, I looked up at the pitch-black sky, took out binoculars from the Mercedes, and looked up.
Suddenly, a light appeared on the rooftop, and then I saw several familiar people.
Yun Lan! Zhou Qingya! Zhong Linyun! Ke Jiamin! And Li Qiming's son, Li Dong!
All five of them were on the rooftop, their hands and feet were tied, and their mouths were taped shut, so they couldn't make a sound.
"Xiaonan, what did you see?" Pu Weichao asked me.
I turned around, pulled out my gun, and pointed it at Zhou Liang's head, yelling, "Let them go!"
