(Episode 6 has officially begun. This is Chapter 3. There are two more chapters to come. Please give it a recommendation!)
Everyone, you must live!
...
I led Li Qiming to a safe house that I had originally chosen.
After the explosion in the safe zone, we discussed the future. Pu Weichao decided to select a safe zone in the surrounding area that was exclusively his own, and only he knew about it; no one else knew.
The safe house I'm in now is mine. It's a warehouse, a warehouse for digital products. I originally planned to choose some grocery stores, but those places are too unsafe. If someone is looking for supplies, they'll definitely show up.
Warehouses storing digital products like these are usually empty of people.
Moreover, it's not far from the vocational high school, only two or three hundred meters away, making it convenient to get there and easy to observe the surroundings and get a clear view of the situation. However, this isn't exactly an advantage.
I dragged the nearly collapsing Li Qiming into the warehouse, closed the door, and rummaged through a box to find two flashlights, illuminating the closed warehouse.
Looking at Li Qiming, who was already exhausted from crying, I had no time to grieve and said, "Let's hide here for now and leave when it's light tomorrow."
This place is too far from the school, and there is a high chance that Zhou Liang will find out.
Therefore, we must leave this place.
But tonight, we'll have to make do for now.
Li Qiming didn't hear me. He lay on the ground, holding his dead son, his eyes vacant, muttering to himself.
I couldn't hear what he was muttering, and I couldn't help him with anything, so I could only sit on the ground to the side and watch him quietly.
Before I knew it, tears blurred my vision, and tears streamed down my face. I wasn't crying, I was just shedding tears.
I'm thinking about what to do next.
I wonder how Pu Weichao is doing now. In the past, when he was around, none of us had to worry about what to do next, because he always had a plan.
However, Pu Weichao's fate is now unknown, and the whereabouts of the others are unknown, or they may even be dead.
What to do next is something I can only figure out myself.
"What should I do?" I asked myself.
Zhou Liang always says I'm not very bright, and it's true, I can't think of any solutions right now.
I looked around, took out a hand warmer from the box, opened it, and warmed my hands. I also took out two blankets from the box, one to cover Li Qiming and the other to wrap myself in.
These things were prepared here long ago, just in case.
The warehouse had no windows and was not well-ventilated, yet it exuded a chilly atmosphere.
I was wrapped in a blanket, wearing thick clothes, and had a hand warmer in my hand, so I could barely keep going.
My teeth were chattering, and I was racking my brains trying to figure out what to do next.
Sitting here and waiting to die is obviously not an option.
Revenge? Do you think I can outmaneuver Zhou Liang? He could kill us all with a single word. If Yan Zhengfeng hadn't sacrificed himself, we probably wouldn't have escaped.
I closed my eyes, recalling my past grievances with Yan Zhengfeng, and a bitter smile appeared on my lips.
Everything has passed; there was no victory, no clamor, no tragedy, only sorrow and ordinariness.
Ultimately, we are all just ordinary people. In this world, it's already quite an achievement to have survived this long. As for what comes next, if we can still live, let's continue living.
However, there are some things that really need to be done.
Revenge is something that can't be rushed.
If you lose your own life, how can you take revenge?
Before I knew it, I turned my head and saw that Li Qiming was no longer moving. I panicked and crawled over to check on him. After confirming that he had just fainted from crying, I breathed a sigh of relief.
Thankfully, he wasn't dead. If he had, it would have been a real problem.
I went back to the corner, leaned against it, tightened my coat, and faced the complete darkness before me.
I closed my eyes, expecting to have insomnia, but to my surprise, physical exhaustion overwhelmed my spirit and forced me into sleep.
That's understandable. My own injuries hadn't healed yet, and with what had happened before, my nerves were completely on edge. Now that I relaxed, I naturally couldn't resist the fatigue coming from my body and instinctively fell asleep.
...
When I woke up, I felt freezing cold.
I checked the time; it was 5:30 in the morning, and it was still dark outside.
The hand warmer in my hand had already gotten cold, and I had to wear two blankets instead of just one.
I was stunned for a moment, then looked up and shone my flashlight in the warehouse. I found that I was the only person there; Li Qiming was gone! His son's body was also missing.
In my panic, I got up from the ground and was about to run out to find someone when I saw a piece of white paper next to me with what seemed to be some words written on it.
I picked it up and saw that it was left to me by Li Qiming. I shone a flashlight on it and took a closer look.
“Xiaonan, thank you for taking care of me all this time. If it weren’t for you, I would have died long ago. To be honest, I’ve never been used to living in this world. Even when I had both hands, I wasn’t used to it. If it weren’t for my son, I would have committed suicide with my wife long ago. Now, as you can see, my son is dead. I think it’s time for me to go down and join them. They must be very scared down there, so I’m going down to be with them…”
The moment I saw this, a chill ran through me, and I felt a sense of fear.
