(Fourth update is here, please give it a recommendation)
After leaving these students I had just met, I continued on my way.
I was looking for a car the whole way.
After all, walking is too tiring, and you might encounter monsters at any time. Once you do, you have to spend energy to deal with them, which wastes even more time.
Half an hour passed quickly. I looked for about three cars on the way, but none of them worked, which made me very frustrated.
We didn't encounter many people along the way.
I checked the time; it was already past noon.
We've been walking for almost an hour now, and I'm really tired.
I saw a village at the end of a small road ahead. I licked my lips, wanting to have a drink of water, but found that the water bottle in my backpack was empty.
He jogged a few steps into the village.
The village was empty and chaotic.
It is estimated that when the disaster broke out, everyone in the village fled, taking everything they could with them. That's why the place looks so chaotic. Whether it's the messy quilts, tables, and chairs on the ground or the clutter on the balconies of the houses, it all shows the chaos that once existed here.
I was too lazy to think about it; the absence of monsters in the village made things much more convenient.
I entered the first building and looked around on the first floor, but I didn't find a water dispenser or any water.
Upon reaching the second floor and opening the living room door, the room was in complete disarray, as if it had been robbed.
I went inside and saw a framed photo on the floor with a group picture inside. I didn't bother to look at it, but then I glanced over and spotted an unopened bottle of purified water in the corner of the living room. I was immediately delighted.
"It came to me without any effort at all."
I smiled and tore open the seal on the bottle of purified water. I glanced at the water dispenser in front of me, hesitating whether to put the bottle on it or not. After thinking for three seconds, I decided not to.
Because the water dispenser is too dirty, it's cleaner to just drink the water directly.
I poked open the seal on the bucket and started to struggle with my decision.
The main problem is that the bucket of water is too big, and my shoulder wound hasn't fully healed yet, so I can't lift it at all.
"I've got it!" I glanced around, my eyes lit up, and I stood up decisively. I ran to the kitchen, grabbed a big bowl, and with this big bowl, I wouldn't have to worry about drinking water anymore.
Just as I was about to get a drink of water, I caught a glimpse of a half-open cabinet out of the corner of my eye, and it seemed like there was something inside!
I stopped, opened the cabinet, and was immediately surprised.
"Holy crap! Instant noodles!"
There were many packs of bread in the cabinet. I took one down and checked the date. It hadn't expired yet!
I smiled.
...
A dozen minutes later, I sat down at the table with a big bowl of instant noodles and started eating with relish. The steaming hot braised beef noodles were incredibly tempting, and the aroma they emitted was even more enticing.
How long has it been since you last ate instant noodles?
It seems like it's been more than half a month, right?
Although I ate instant noodles when I was still in school, everyone thought they were unhealthy, so we mostly ate healthy foods. Besides, we didn't lack food back then, so we naturally looked down on instant noodles.
But things are different now. I only ate a little bit for dinner last night and didn't eat breakfast this morning. I'm starving now.
I picked up the instant noodles with my chopsticks, stuffed them into my mouth, and took a big slurp. After chewing the noodles for a couple of minutes, I felt like my whole life was perfect.
"That was fucking awesome!"
I was happily eating my instant noodles when suddenly I heard a noise downstairs.
"Someone's here?" I paused, put down my chopsticks, picked up the cleaver beside me, and went to the kitchen door.
"Hey, big brother, are you here?" A voice came from downstairs, sounding like Huang Yiyang's voice from before.
I did not answer him.
But the other person didn't leave; instead, they went upstairs.
"Brother, I saw you come in just now. If you were here, please let me know."
I frowned. Why was this guy following me?
Before long, Huang Yiyang and the others came upstairs. I came out of the kitchen and stood in front of them, and the four of them were startled.
I stared at the four of them and asked, "Why are you following me?"
Huang Yiyang, carrying the seemingly unconscious Wang Xintong on his back, said with a wry smile, "Big brother, I'm sorry, we have no choice. We don't know where to go, so we thought we might as well come with you."
"I don't have time to take care of you, so don't follow me."
I rolled my eyes, left a comment, went back to the kitchen, put down the knife, and sat down to continue eating my instant noodles.
After Huang Yiyang put Wang Xintong on the sofa in the living room, he ran over to talk to me, but when he saw me eating instant noodles, he swallowed hard and couldn't say anything.
Not only him, but the other two boys next to him also had the same expression. They looked at the instant noodles I was eating with their eyes shining like hungry ghosts.
I said, "There's water and instant noodles behind you, and gas and a stove here. Go and cook your own food. Don't look at me."
"Oh, thank you," Huang Yiyang said.
"Thank you..." the other two boys also said.
I raised an eyebrow, said nothing, and continued eating my instant noodles.
A dozen minutes later, the three of them sat on stools, each with a bowl of instant noodles in front of them.
I wasn't in a hurry. After they finished eating, I asked, "Tell me your names."
"My name is Huang Yiyang," Huang Yiyang said, raising his hand.
"I didn't ask you, I asked the two of them."
