Chapter 163 Meeting a Stranger

(The ending of the previous chapter was slightly modified, so please take note. Also, there will be four updates today.)

“...Wang Luyao”.

When I heard Huang Yiyang say that name, I got excited.

"Wait, Wang Luyao!" I quickly interrupted him.

Huang Yiyang was surprised, nodded, understood, and asked, "Brother Lu, do you know her?"

I thought about it, and it might not be my sister. Maybe it's just someone with the same name. There are so many people in the world, it's quite possible to have the same name.

I composed myself and asked, "Tell me, do you know how to spell her name?"

Huang Yiyang looked up at the sky, thought for a moment and said, "Wang is the same as Wang. Lu is the character with the 'forest' radical on top and the character for sika deer on the bottom. Yao is the character with the 'king' radical on top, which is the character Yao in many girls' names."

After hearing this, I smiled. It really was her, it really was my sister.

"Brother Lu, is it her?" Huang Yiyang asked.

I nodded and hurriedly said, "Yes, it's her. Tell me, is she still alive?"

Huang Yiyang said uncertainly, "I guess so, but I don't know right now."

I thought about it and agreed. "Where was the last time you saw her, and what was her situation?"

Huang Yiyang thought for a moment and said, "That was about half a month ago, a long time ago. We had just arrived here from Ninghai when we met Wang Luyao and the others. Later, when we were walking together, we encountered a horde of zombies, and we got separated while running. I think she should still be alive now. I think she's pretty amazing."

Huang Yiyang's words revealed a lot to me: Wang Luyao wasn't alone; she was traveling with a team, which significantly increased her safety.

"You just mentioned 'them,' how many people are around Wang Luyao?" I asked.

Huang Yiyang said, "There were about a dozen people. I didn't count them carefully. When the zombie horde came, it seemed like a few of them died. Most of them were older than us and looked like college students."

I nodded. In that case, my sister should be fine. As long as she doesn't encounter any danger or do anything reckless, she should be able to survive.

"One last question, do you know where they went?"

"Huh?" Huang Yiyang looked embarrassed. "How...how would I know?"

"Okay, it was my oversight. Let's forget about it," I said.

Huang Yiyang asked, "Brother Lu, is this Wang Luyao your friend?"

"She's my sister." I didn't hide it.

Huang Yiyang suddenly realized.

After the small talk, our group continued on our way. After learning about Wang Luyao's situation, I became uneasy, wondering if I should turn back to find her. However, Huang Yiyang had encountered her half a month ago, and even if I went back now, I wouldn't be able to find any trace of her.

I was suddenly conflicted.

I hope Luyao is always safe, and I hope we can meet again in the future.

Not long after, Huang Yiyang suddenly remembered something and said, "Ah! Right, Brother Lu, I remember now. I heard Wang Luyao mention something before. She said that she would definitely go back to Wutong City to find her relatives in the future, but now she has to accompany other people to another place."

Huang Yiyang's words made me think a lot, but I didn't react much. I just nodded and continued walking forward.

I'm not capable of handling Luyao's matter right now.

That's all I can say for now.

After walking for a few minutes, I saw a black sedan ahead.

I jogged over and saw two monsters inside the car. I took out my machete and stabbed them in, killing them.

Then, I opened the car door and saw the car key in the ignition. I dragged the body out of the car, got in myself, and turned the key. The car made a "coo-coo-coo" sound, but I couldn't start it.

With a furrowed brow, I tried for a long time, and after confirming that the car couldn't be started, I got out of the car with a helpless expression.

"Is the heavens against me? There are so many cars on the road, but I can't use a single one?!"

"Brother Lu, look ahead, there are two people!" Huang Yiyang suddenly said, pointing to the road ahead.

I looked up and indeed saw two people appear.

They were about twenty meters away from us. Both of them looked to be in their early thirties, and they didn't have anything on them except for the knives in their hands.

I stared at their attire, pondering their purpose.

The fact that they didn't have backpacks suggests that the two were likely part of a team, otherwise they wouldn't have traveled so lightly. Also, it seems they weren't out looking for food or supplies.

As they approached us, I noticed a malicious smile in their eyes.

"It's really strange that we can actually run into a living person today," said one of the shorter ones.

Another guy wearing glasses looked at us and said, "Indeed."

I remained calm, holding the machete in my hand, and asked, "May I ask who you are?"

The bespectacled man chuckled and said, "Let me introduce myself. My name is Zhang Xinwei, and his name is Wu Tao. We are both survivors."

I nodded and said, "Okay, if there's nothing else, we'll be going now."

As I said this, I gave Huang Yiyang a look, signaling him to leave quickly. These two were clearly up to no good; they were approaching us so easily—they definitely had ulterior motives!

Just like Pu Weichao once told me, there must be something fishy going on when things seem unusual.

But the man named Wu Tao raised his knife and blocked our way, saying, "Hey young man, that's not very kind of you. We should at least exchange names, shouldn't we?"
