Before we knew it, a week had passed.
A week ago, I was on my way to Wutong City, thinking about getting revenge on Zhou Liang. But now, I'm being manipulated by a bag of ****.
For the past week, they've sent us out almost every day to do all sorts of nasty tasks. At first, it was getting things from the supermarket, then scouting ahead, and later even finding clothes and firewood. Basically, they've made us do anything they can.
After a week, the original nine people were reduced to six, including myself.
Each time we completed a task, the thugs would give each of us a packet of ****.
I always ate after I got back to the car, and I strictly controlled my portion size. Every time I ate, I would leave half a packet and hide it in the foam of the van seat. Although it was uncomfortable to do this, I got used to it after a week.
After adapting, my mind can still think and try out various plans even when I'm in pain.
At the same time, I will also start listening to their conversations.
From the conversation between the thugs and others, I learned that the thug who gave us the **** was named Li Ming, and the one who drove was named Gao Tian.
As for the leader they were talking about, his name was Huo Cheng.
From what they told me, Huo Cheng seemed to have been involved in these things before. After the catastrophe, he began to use these things to control others, and then it developed to its current scale.
Such people are indeed quite terrifying.
From what Li Ming and Gao Tian said, I could tell that they were both very afraid of Huo Cheng.
Moreover, I learned a crucial piece of information from them: besides the six of us who were addicted, there were a total of twenty-seven of them!
In today's world, this is a very large group.
...
In the early morning, I sat in the van's seat. I had slept very well last night, thanks to the ****, but when I woke up, I felt that pain coming from inside my body, and I started to feel uncomfortable again.
I know this discomfort and pain will last for an hour or two, and then it will disappear.
So I have no choice but to bear it.
Grit your teeth and bear it.
The other five people haven't woken up yet; after all, they ate more **** than me, so they must have slept longer than me.
I stuck my head out the window, opened my mouth, and dug my fingers down my throat.
vomit!
I vomited up everything in my stomach.
I feel so awful. I didn't digest anything I ate last night, and now I've thrown it all up.
After vomiting, I felt much better, but after a short while, the feeling returned, and I gritted my teeth and persevered.
As I persisted, I saw that Li Ming and Gao Tian were still sleeping in the driver's seat and passenger seat, respectively. Suddenly, a thought popped into my head: should I just kill them both and then run away?
But when I looked out the window and saw several people on night watch, the idea vanished.
Ultimately, I'm all alone; I can't fight them.
I would like to find someone to fight me, but it's not that simple.
The five people besides me were all in a daze, and none of them wanted to resist.
After two hours of excruciating pain, I collapsed into my chair, too weak to move.
At that moment, the van door opened, and Li Ming called all six of us out.
I glanced around in a daze and realized that this place looked somewhat familiar.
Upon closer inspection, I discovered that this place is near a vocational high school!
I can't believe they're back!
Li Ming looked at the six of us and said, "I'm giving you a task. See this residential area behind me? The six of you go into the first building in this area and take out everything that can be used."
Is it another task to retrieve something?
I swallowed hard, my throat felt dry, I licked my chapped lips, and squinted at the building in front of me.
Li Ming said, "Hurry up and go!"
The six of us set off. The monsters at the entrance had been cleared out, and we were ready to enter the building.
This building is detached; there's no way to escape.
The five people in front of me were in perfect unison; the first one to see the security door on the second floor was open went inside.
The remaining people continued upstairs; this was the consequence of long-term enslavement, and everyone's thinking had become rigid.
The remaining four people were scattered across different floors. Since the security doors to two of the rooms were locked, I went to the top floor, which was the eighth floor.
I glanced up and saw that the security door on the eighth floor was closed. I was about to continue upstairs when I put my hand on the doorknob and pulled it, and the security door on the eighth floor opened!
This surprised me.
Curious, I went inside and saw a piece of paper on the ground by the door with a few words written on it.
"Don't come in, you'll die."
These words look somewhat familiar, but I can't quite place them.
I stood at the door, neither rushing in nor touching the paper on the ground.
I took off my coat and threw it into the house.
Nothing happened.
Since nothing's wrong, then maybe nothing really is wrong.
As I stepped into the room, I found it to be very clean, with very little dust on the solid wood floor, as if it had just been cleaned.
I was surprised. Could it be that someone still lives here?
