(This is the first update of the day, a bit late. The second update will probably be later tonight. Please give me a recommendation vote.)
The next morning, I got out of bed. Although I was still a little weak, I felt much better than yesterday.
I did some exercise in the room to get used to my current physical condition, and then took a closer look at the room I was in.
The room's decor was old-fashioned, like something from a previous era. The walls weren't painted white, but covered with wallpaper. Due to the passage of time, the wallpaper had started to peel off, revealing the gray cement wall underneath.
The ground wasn't tiled; it was a flat cement floor.
I opened the door and went into the living room.
The living room was decorated much like the rest of the house, with wallpaper, a cement floor, and those old-fashioned sliding windows.
There was no one in the living room; Fei Lichao and Hu Fei were probably still asleep.
As for Zhang Zhihao, no one knows where he went.
I went out onto the balcony outside the living room, and the blinding morning light fell on my face, making it hard to open my eyes.
I squinted, shielding my eyes from the sunlight with my hand, and looked at everything outside.
This appears to be a very old neighborhood.
I found myself on the fourth floor, with many figures moving around below. The community wasn't very big, or rather, only half of it remained, as the other half seemed to have been demolished.
Click.
The security door to the house suddenly opened, and when I looked back, I saw Song Xiaoxiao, whom I had seen yesterday, enter the house, carrying breakfast in her hand.
"Oh, you're up so early!" Song Xiaoxiao exclaimed in surprise when she saw me.
I smiled and said, "If you can't sleep, get up and take a look."
Song Xiaoxiao pointed to the large bowl of hot porridge she had handed over and asked me, "Are you hungry? Do you want some?"
"Okay, thank you."
"I'll serve you some." Song Xiaoxiao kindly took a small bowl from the kitchen and served me a bowl of hot porridge.
"Thanks." I took it and blew on it.
Song Xiaoxiao said, "There aren't many side dishes to go with the porridge right now, so we'll just have to make do with what we have."
I chuckled and said, "It's good enough to have something to eat."
I took a sip of my porridge, and Song Xiaoxiao said from the side, "Now that you're awake, you should be alright, right?"
I nodded.
Song Xiaoxiao said, "It's good that you're alright. By the way, Secretary Li already knows about what happened to you, and I reckon he'll be coming to see you soon."
"Secretary Li, who is that?" I asked, turning my head.
Song Xiaoxiao said, "He is the highest-ranking leader here, and the current situation in the community was set by him."
I nodded, recalling that Zhang Zhihao seemed to have mentioned this person yesterday; his name was Li Dacheng.
Since you're coming, then come on over.
Song Xiaoxiao said, "When Secretary Li comes over, you must be careful what you say. Don't anger him, or you'll be in trouble."
Curious, I asked, "How exactly will you suffer?"
Song Xiaoxiao looked slightly embarrassed. "That's right. Secretary Li doesn't like outsiders very much. Last time, two outsiders came to our area, and after Secretary Li talked to them, he had them kicked out. But I think since you are Zhang Zhihao's friends, Secretary Li shouldn't make things difficult for you."
I chuckled. "Won't put you in a difficult position? Who knows?"
"Thank you for telling me about this."
Song Xiaoxiao smiled and waved her hand, saying, "It's nothing. It's mainly because you saved my cousin, so it's only right that I do these things."
I was stunned. Save your cousin? When did I save your cousin?
Seeing that I didn't understand, Song Xiaoxiao explained, "My cousin's name is Wang Hao. Do you remember him?"
I suddenly realized, "So your cousin is Wang Hao. Is he alright now?"
Song Xiaoxiao nodded: "Yeah, it's okay now. I'm back with the team now and training with Zhang Zhihao and the others."
"Training?!" I exclaimed in surprise again.
Song Xiaoxiao looked at me in surprise and said, "Yes, training! Didn't Zhang Zhihao tell you that they train every morning since the field support troops came along?"
I shook my head with a wry smile. Zhang Zhihao is quite something. He's completely applied Fei Lichao's methods here. No wonder he became the captain.
After I finished my porridge, Song Xiaoxiao wanted to serve me another bowl, but I refused.
I took this opportunity to ask, "Could you tell me more about the situation here? I'd like to know more. If it's inconvenient for you to say, I won't ask."
The main reason for asking this question is to understand the specific situation of this community. Yesterday, Zhang Zhihao only talked about his own affairs and did not introduce the community in detail. Therefore, if I am going to live here in the future, I definitely need to understand it thoroughly.
Song Xiaoxiao said, "There's nothing inconvenient about it. I can tell you."
"Um."
Song Xiaoxiao said, "Actually, things were very chaotic here before, but now it's better. Basically everyone can eat and won't starve. Moreover, everyone is assigned work, so no one is idle."
"However, although it looks good on the surface, it is actually very unfair in many ways."
I asked curiously, "How is it unfair?"
Song Xiaoxiao said, "For example, in the internal affairs department, there are many levels. The highest level people don't have to do any work. They just need to arrange the internal affairs staff for the day. But the people who do the work are very tired. They are basically working all day long and never have a break."
When I heard this, I didn't see anything wrong with it; it was just a difference in the nature of our work.
The staff who made the arrangements may seem relaxed, but they are actually very tired. After all, coordinating so many people is not an easy task.
