Xiao Li was pale and his forehead was covered in cold sweat.

Wu Shuang turned to look at me and asked, "What should we do?"

I looked up at Xiao Li and asked seriously, "Were your wounds inflicted by those monsters outside?"

Xiao Li nodded.

I went over and looked at Xiao Li's neck. The blood vessels inside were already faintly turning black, and the blood vessels on his right arm were even more prominent, appearing black. This indicated that the virus had spread throughout his body.

Fei Lichao asked me, "So, is there any way?"

I shook my head and said, "There's nothing I can do."

Upon hearing this, Xiao Li's face turned even paler. He took a step back, leaned against the wall, and squatted down, completely despairing.

Fei Lichao stared at Xiao Li, his mind racing, and pulled me aside, saying, "Then, how about this: cut off Xiao Li's hand, cut off the part where he was bitten off, would that work?"

I was startled by his idea, but upon closer reflection, it wasn't entirely impossible.

However, if Xiao Li had just been bitten, cutting off his hand might have saved his life. But now, the virus has spread throughout his body, and black veins are faintly visible on his neck. In this situation, there is absolutely no hope.

I shook my head and said, "It's no use, it's too late."

Fei Lichao gave a bitter smile, a very ugly and bitter one.

He walked up to Xiao Li, squatted down, and grabbed the other's shoulder.

Unable to bear the fear, Xiao Li burst into tears, repeatedly murmuring, "I don't want to die, Captain, I don't want to die, I don't want to become one of those monsters..."

Fei Lichao held his head in his arms and whispered in his ear, "Shh... It's okay, it's okay, everything will pass, it's okay, trust the captain, nothing will happen."

Xiao Li looks very young, only about eighteen years old. In fact, he's just a teenager in the prime of his youth.

Seeing Fei Lichao and the others in such a state, my heart ached.

A few minutes later, Xiao Li was escorted out by Fei Lichao, but no one knew where he was taken.

When he came back, he said to me expressionlessly, "Let's continue."

"Where's Xiao Li?" Wu Shuang asked.

Fei Lichao said, "People are watching us from outside."

I nodded and called out to the door, "Next, come in."

The remaining two soldiers were perfectly healthy and in good condition.

After the soldiers finished their inspection, they went to help maintain order. After all, the next people to be inspected were all the people in the air-raid shelter. They were all ordinary people, not soldiers, and not everyone could follow orders like soldiers.

There will always be some people who want to cause trouble.

The examination went smoothly at first. Everyone who came in cooperated well. The men were mostly uninhibited; they took off their clothes, had their examinations done, and left once everything was found to be normal.

As for the women, Wu Shuang basically took them to a corner of the warehouse for inspection. The area was surrounded by boxes, so they couldn't see anything from the outside, which made them feel safe.

In one morning, we checked about sixty people. Apart from two people who had slight colds, there were basically no problems. As for troublemakers, there were practically none, which was a bit different from what I had expected.

After a one-and-a-half-hour break and some food at noon, the inspection resumed around 1 p.m.

The first person to come in that afternoon was Pu Weichao.

As soon as Pu Weichao came in, he looked at me and said, "I don't need to be checked, right? We're all so familiar with each other, and I don't have anything to do, don't you think?"

I was about to speak, but before I could open my mouth, Fei Lichao, who was standing to the side, frowned and said, "Who the hell knows you? Take off your clothes and stop wasting my time."

Pu Weichao looked at me, his eyes pleading for help.

I spread my hands and said, "Don't look at me, you should listen to him."

"Okay, okay, I'll take off my clothes." Pu Weichao rolled his eyes and finally had no choice but to take off his clothes.

After examining him, I found no new wounds on his body. After the examination, I said, "Okay, there's nothing wrong. Put your clothes on and go out."

As Pu Weichao put on his clothes, he said, "Can I offer a suggestion?"

"What's your opinion?" As I said this, I glanced at Fei Lichao and noticed that he hadn't chased Pu Weichao away.

Pu Weichao glanced at him and said, "Exactly. There are so many people in this air-raid shelter. I have a feeling something's going to happen. I've only been here for two days, but it's been really uncomfortable being outside all crammed together. At first, it'll be fine, since everyone's afraid of those things outside and doesn't dare to go out. But this can't go on for long."

"What exactly are you trying to say?" Fei Lichao asked with a serious expression.

"Exactly, could you please find a more spacious place outside so that some people can move there? That way, the air-raid shelter won't be so crowded. I reckon that in about two days, someone will definitely cause trouble here. I'm not kidding, it's true, someone will definitely cause trouble then," Pu Weichao said solemnly.

I looked at Fei Lichao; I couldn't make a decision about this.

Fei Lichao didn't give Pu Weichao a chance to continue, "Alright, get dressed and get out of here quickly, we'll talk about this later."

“Hey, we can’t talk about this later, this is very urgent,” Pu Weichao said.

Looking at Pu Weichao's expression, I gave a wry smile. Everyone knew the situation inside the air-raid shelter; it was just too crowded to do anything about it.
