However, this is not the door we want.
After the three of us entered, we went behind the counter in the deli section. The main reason we came in was to see if there were any windows or back doors in the deli section, so that it would be convenient to leave if there were.
The flashlight beam illuminated everything behind the deli counter. There was a corpse lying face down on the floor behind the counter. Shining the flashlight on it, I could see that there was another hole in the corpse's head.
Judging from the degree of decomposition, the body appears to have been there for some time.
It seems they died here a long time ago.
We ignored the body and planned to go check out the warehouse and processing room in the back.
The deli section of the supermarket sells snacks and various meats and vegetables, as well as raw chicken that has undergone simple processing, so there must be a processing room in the back.
However, just in case, Fei Lichao took the lead, carrying a flashlight and walking forward. The sliding door in front was the door to the processing room. There was no sound coming from inside, but Fei Lichao was still worried and insisted on going over to take a look first.
He said he would go first, but actually another person and I followed behind him, just in case.
As we approached the door, the stench grew stronger, as if it were emanating from inside the processing room.
Even if we covered our noses, we couldn't stop the stench. If we didn't want to leave, we would never come to a place like this!
Fei Lichao was now close to the door of the processing room. He shone his flashlight inside, and immediately a roar came from inside the processing room.
Fei Lichao wasn't in a hurry and waited outside. The zombie inside staggered to the doorway.
As the light shone, we were able to see the zombie in front of us clearly.
It was wearing a white apron, and there wasn't much blood or cleanliness on its body. However, when I looked up and my gaze fell on its head, I was immediately startled because the zombie's head was only half a head. Upon closer inspection, I realized that its head had been smashed flat!
This is simply a miracle! A head smashed flat and still turning into a zombie!
Fei Lichao showed no mercy, and with one swift strike, the zombie fell to the ground and died with a thud.
Fei Lichao peeked into the processing room with his flashlight and decided to go in and take a look.
thump!
However, he had just taken a step when the guy next to me suddenly fell to the ground!
Fei Lichao, who was walking in front, was so frightened that he quickly turned around and drew his gun.
"Are you alright?" I reached out to help him up. At first, I thought he had tripped over something, but when I pulled him up and saw his face, which looked as pale as a zombie, I was shocked.
He was extremely weak, and leaning against the door frame, he waved his hand and said, "It's okay, I'm fine."
The moment he raised his hand, I saw a bite mark on his wrist!
When was this guy bitten?
Fei Lichao's flashlight beam also fell on his hand, naturally revealing his wound.
"When the hell did you get bitten?" Fei Lichao asked, puzzled.
The guy shook his head and couldn't say a word. I reached out and touched his forehead and found it was very hot; he clearly had a fever.
It looks like the Erin virus has already spread into his body. Even if I cut off his hand now, it won't help.
I put him on the ground; the guy was already delirious and unable to speak.
Fei Lichao pinched his cheek, looked at him, shook his head, and said, "Xiaonan, is this guy beyond saving?"
I said, "It's truly hopeless."
Fei Lichao said, "Why don't we just kill him? He looks terrible."
I frowned and glanced at Fei Lichao, thinking he was right. This guy was indeed in a bad state right now, and he would probably be in even worse shape when he turned into a zombie. It would be better to end his suffering now and let him suffer less.
"No, don't kill me! I'm alright, don't kill me!"
After hearing what we said, the guy started to panic. He struggled to get up from the ground, but in his current condition, he couldn't stand up. Fei Lichao and I watched as he tried to stand up by holding onto the door frame, but soon his legs gave way and he sat down on the ground with a thud.
"Don't force yourself. Tell me your name first," I asked, squatting down.
“Zhao Hua,” the guy said.
I nodded and said, "Zhao Hua, is there any wish you haven't fulfilled yet?"
Zhao Hua, with his eyes closed, raised his head and asked weakly, "Wish? What wish could I have? I want to go home! I want to see my wife and children; they're still at home. Could you please help me up? I think I've caught a cold; I feel completely weak. Please help me. If you take me home, I'll give you a pack of cigarettes. And I'll tell you something, but don't tell anyone... I'm at..."
At this point, a smile and pride appeared on his face, but his words began to become unclear.
"I have... a lot... a lot... of smoke there..."
The moment he finished speaking, his throat seemed to catch in his throat, and he could no longer utter a word.
I estimate that he will start to change soon.
I gave Fei Lichao a look, and Fei Lichao pulled out a knife and stabbed it into the back of his head.
Zhao Hua's body went limp, and he died.
