Chapter 243 The Man Who Had Been in a Coma for a Month

I'm always thinking about what the future will be like, but I've never thought that I wouldn't have a future.

...

The blinding sunlight made it hard for me to open my eyes, but after my eyes adjusted, I was completely bewildered when I saw what was in front of me.

There were five cars parked around the entrance of the supermarket, forming a semi-circle.

There were many people in and behind these vehicles, but the weapons they carried were knives, hammers, or shovels; in short, no guns!

I don't know who these people are, but judging from their appearance, they don't seem to have any good intentions.

Fei Lichao's first reaction upon seeing them was to draw his gun and confront them.

I dared not be negligent, so I raised the pistol I had been holding and aimed it at the group of people in front of me.

Although I don't know who these people are, their appearance confirms my suspicions: there are indeed people living near this supermarket! And the zombies that poured into the supermarket from outside the main entrance earlier were probably controlled by these people!

I don't know why they did that.

Although Fei Lichao and I raised our guns, the group of people in front of us were not afraid at all.

Their composure exceeded my expectations.

So I started to wonder why they weren't afraid of the guns we had. You see, all they had were shovels and hammers, which were much weaker than guns.

But they are not afraid.

I have only one thought in my mind about this.

This group has our people on their side.

Was it Sister Jing, or Zhang Zhihao and the others?

Sure enough, after a short while, a man who looked to be in his thirties stepped forward from among them, glanced at us, and his eyes showed obvious unfamiliarity and rejection.

Without saying a word, he waved to the people behind him.

A short while later, three people, bound hand and foot like dumplings, appeared in front of Fei Lichao and me.

These three people were none other than Zhang Zhihao, Liu Jinshuang, and Xu Haishui.

It seems everyone else is dead, and only the three of them escaped.

And unfortunately, he was captured by the person in front of him.

Fei Lichao pointed his gun at the man in front of him and said, "Let them go!"

The man smiled slightly, a smile that looked very righteous. He patted his hands and said unhurriedly, "Don't rush, which of you two is Lu Xiaonan?"

I was taken aback, and Fei Lichao and I exchanged a glance, not understanding what this guy was up to.

“It’s me,” I said.

The man nodded and smiled, "Let me introduce myself. My name is Chen Yefei, and I'm their leader. I heard from these three that you're their boss, and I thought you'd be in your thirties. I didn't expect you to be so young."

I glanced at Zhang Zhihao, whose mouth was taped shut, and noticed that he nodded at me.

I smiled bitterly to myself, understanding why he said that.

Chen Yefei continued, "I'm not blocking your way at the door to take your lives. I just want to ask you a few questions. If your answers satisfy me, I can let you go. After all, we don't have any conflicts with you, and I haven't laid a hand on your people."

I glanced around warily.

Chen Yefei laughed and said, "Don't worry, there's no one lying in ambush around. If I really wanted to threaten you, I would have already pointed a gun at your heads. Would I be standing here so stupidly? So, put down your guns, let's shake hands and have a good talk."

What he said made sense. I glanced at Fei Lichao and gave him a look.

Fei Lichao understood perfectly and nodded slightly.

I put down my pistol, and Fei Lichao followed suit, but only halfway down, with the muzzle pointing forward, ready to be raised at any moment.

I shook hands with the man in front of me named Chen Yefei. His hands were rough but strong.

"What do you want to ask?" I asked.

Chen Yefei said, "Let me ask a question first. I'm very curious about how you guys got out of the supermarket. There were so many zombies in the supermarket, it's a miracle that you were able to come out alive."

I frowned, not rushing to answer his question, but instead asking in return, "I want to know, were the zombies that swarmed into the supermarket earlier released by you?"

Chen Yefei shook his head decisively, "No."

"..." I didn't know what to say for a moment. Isn't this just lying through your teeth? Who would believe you if you said it wasn't true!

After those zombies came in, we could only run around in the dark supermarket. We finally escaped, but you guys surrounded us. You say you didn't release them? Who would believe that?

Chen Yefei noticed the difference in my expression and said with a wry smile, "I'm not lying to you, I really didn't release them. I don't have the ability to control so many zombies. If you still don't believe me, I can tell you something."

"What is it?"

Chen Yefei said, "I'll tell you about this after you answer my question. It's too early to tell you now."

"..." I wanted to curse.

Chen Yefei said somewhat ramblingly, "Before I ask you any questions, I can make you a promise: as long as you answer my questions, I can let you leave without worry. We have no conflict, right? And there's no need for us to fight to the death, right?"

I didn't say anything, waiting for him to ask questions.

Chen Yefei raised an eyebrow. "If you don't tell me, that means you agree. Fine, then I'll ask you: Where did you come from? I've lived here for so long, but I've never seen you before. Also, what is your purpose in coming here?"

I said, "Release the three of them first, and then I'll answer your questions. It's a reasonable deal, right? Anyway, you've shown your sincerity, so you have to make me believe you."
