Chapter 421 Escape from Death

As Li Jiaming was turning, the car behind him caught up for a short distance, but overall it didn't get very close.

Li Jiaming was very good at timing. He saw that the car behind him was almost up, so he stepped on the gas and entered the trap.

Zhou Qingya said, "See that manhole cover with a wire stuck in it? That's it."

I looked carefully ahead and indeed saw a wire standing on the manhole cover.

Li Jiaming accelerated his car to 120 mph, and the cars behind him followed into the trap.

At that moment, all the doors of the houses on both sides opened, and the zombies trapped inside ran out. I saw this densely packed scene again, and to be honest, it was terrifying.

You can be truly terrified when you see a large horde of zombies appear around you.

We were already close to the manhole cover when Li Jiaming braked suddenly and swerved to a stop in front of it.

We got out of the car, and I quickly ran to the manhole cover and lifted it out from the inside.

"Li Jiaming, you can go down now!" I said.

Li Jiaming didn't hesitate. He was already very scared. When he heard that he could be the first to go down, he quickly crawled into the manhole cover. Zhou Qingya was the second. Because she had injured her leg, she had a lot of trouble in the afternoon. She even fell in halfway down, but fortunately Li Jiaming caught her from below.

Without hesitation, Sister Jing crawled into the sewer.

Seeing the zombies running towards me, I didn't dare to hesitate. After Sister Jing went down, I quickly followed her into the manhole.

After I entered the manhole, before I could close it, I saw the car following us crash into our car. With a loud bang, our car was thrown above the opening.

As for what will happen to those people, I can't be bothered to care. It would be best if they died.

Not long after, we heard screams coming from above; clearly, they had all been bitten by zombies.

Come to think of it, they had been chasing us with the car windows down. After we entered the trap, they must have been watching us the whole time and not paying attention to the zombies around them. By the time they realized that there were swarms of zombies surrounding them, it was already too late.

When I arrived in the underground sewers, it was pitch black and I couldn't see anything.

I asked with some doubt, "Qingya, are there zombies in this sewer?"

Zhou Qingya said, "No, don't worry. There are people watching this underground sewer every day, and we've blocked all the side passages, so no zombies will come in."

This underground sewer is not large; it can only accommodate one person at a time.

But that was enough. We walked through the stinking sewers, and since we didn't have flashlights, we could only follow the route. Luckily, the people in the villa community had blocked the side roads, otherwise we really wouldn't know how to get out.

I walked ahead to clear the way. After walking for two minutes, I remembered that I seemed to have a lighter in my pocket. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. After opening it, I found the lighter inside the cigarette pack.

I don't feel like smoking right now.

With a click.

A flame shot out of the lighter.

Although the flame was small, it illuminated a section of the path ahead in the pitch-black environment.

With the light, we became bolder. Sister Jing followed behind me, while Li Jiaming carried Zhou Qingya at the very back. We followed the route arranged in the underground waterway.

After wandering around for about ten minutes, we finally arrived at the exit.

I climbed up first, pushed open the manhole cover, poked my head out and tapped around to make sure there were no zombies before climbing out and shouting down, "Come on up, it's safe."

I glanced around and noticed that there was a villa community not far to the west!

Jingjie and the others quickly climbed up.

Zhou Qingya said, "That's the villa community over there, let's go over there."

We walked towards the villa community, which was only one block away from us. The zombies in the surrounding area had already been cleared out by the people in the villa community, so there was no danger for us walking here.

If we go from this direction, we'll reach the back gate of the villa community.

The villa complex looks quiet now, so the raider team probably hasn't arrived yet, or maybe they haven't even discovered this place.

We walked for about five or six minutes and arrived at the back gate of the villa community.

Zhou Qingya looked at the back door and asked in confusion, "Why is no one here?"

I glanced at the empty back door and asked, "Was someone guarding this place before?"

Zhou Qingya nodded and said, "Yes, there are people on duty here every day."

We arrived at the back door, and Sister Jing stepped forward and pushed the back door open.

Just then, an untimely gunshot rang out from in front of the villa complex.

Bang!

The gunshot rang out, leaving all four of us stunned.

"What's going on?" Li Jiaming panicked.

I frowned, put Zhou Qingya down from my back, and said, "You guys stay here, I'll go check out the situation ahead. Contact me via walkie-talkie if anything happens."

"Okay." Sister Jing nodded, not stopping me.

I cautiously ran into the villa community. Once inside, I found the community deserted, and the further I went, the more noise I heard from ahead.

I had a bad feeling.

I ran to the center of the villa complex, where I could already see the central pool and the plaza in front.

I looked around the square, and the situation was worse than I had imagined.

The raider team eventually arrived at the villa complex, where they had gathered everyone in the complex in the square.

It appears that someone has already been killed by the looters.

Little girl!

I remembered that the little girl was still in Zhou Qingya's villa, so I ran over there without hesitation. Luckily, Zhou Qingya's villa wasn't in the center, otherwise I really wouldn't have been able to get there.

I hope the little girl is alright, no, she absolutely has to be alright!

Voice Recorder Diary 40:

"I almost died today!" he gasped for breath. "Lin Zijie and the supervisor were supposed to leave today, but the survivors who came here didn't want them to leave. They said they wanted them to continue researching the zombie cure and asked us to help them. Honestly, I almost punched someone when I heard that. If the zombie cure was so easy to research, we would have researched it long ago. Why would we have to wait until now? In the end, after the supervisor explained to them, they actually started hitting people. I got punched twice too, and it hurt like hell. Anyway, they didn't leave today, and as for those people, we can't be bothered with them anymore."
