Chapter 451 Guardian

As mentioned before, we will meet at the entrance of the central town at 11:00 AM.

There was still some time before 11 o'clock, so Jing and I strolled leisurely toward the main gate of the town center. At the same time, I explained Zhang Jianzhou's situation to her.

Jingjie was shocked after hearing this.

"So, you already killed Zhang Jianzhou? And now he's back here?" Sister Jing asked, her eyes wide.

I nodded and said, "Yes."

Sister Jing shook her head, her face full of confusion, and asked, "But how is this possible? How can a dead person reappear here?"

I shook my head and said, "I don't know what happened either. The only explanation is that he might not have died at the time. After I left, he might have been rescued by someone else."

Jingjie said, "But he's already been bitten by a zombie, so he probably won't survive."

I nodded. "Yeah, he's basically not going to survive. I reckon he'll turn into a zombie in a few hours."

Sister Jing asked, "Then why did you tell Zhang Lincai you weren't sure when you were inside?"

I said, "Because only in this way will they try to keep me."

Jingjie stared at me, her eyes full of helplessness. "Do we really have to stay? This place means nothing to us!"

I said, "I think you heard what Zhang Lincai said before. The development of Central Town relies entirely on the raiders constantly plundering and expanding outside. But this model won't last long. Once Central Town cuts off the supply of weapons to the raider squads, the raider squads will probably only have one way to go."

Sister Jing asked in confusion, "What road?"

"Join Central Town. By then, Central Town will definitely have developed and reached a certain scale. With such a town and the military forces they control, do you think they would let us go if they discovered our research institute?"

Sister Jing said anxiously, "But you can't say that! Do you plan to become a doctor here after Zhang Jianzhou dies? And become one of the people here?"

I glanced around and saw the guy who had been following us, and said, "I have thought about it, but I'm not sure whether to do it or not."

Sister Jing said, "I disagree. What you're doing is too dangerous!"

I said, "Nothing is without danger. If joining the central town can provide security for our future, I don't mind joining. Besides, we don't have any background or shady dealings. As long as we stay here long enough, we will naturally gain their trust."

Sister Jing looked unwilling and stopped talking.

I sighed and said, "Okay, this isn't urgent. Let's discuss it when we get back and then make a decision."

Our discussion yielded no results, so we continued walking towards the entrance of the central town. The people following us were still close behind, seemingly determined to keep a close watch on us and not let us leave.

Jingjie seemed to be sulking with me, and she barely spoke to me for the rest of the journey.

In the blink of an eye, we arrived at the center of the town. At this moment, Sister Jing stopped and looked at the shop that sold people.

Looking at Sister Jing's face, I knew she really wanted to release the girls inside, but there was nothing we could do about their fate. Being caught and sold here was their hardship, their life, and we couldn't save them.

I sighed, wanting to persuade Sister Jing to stop looking, but when I glanced at the shop selling girls and saw a girl standing inside, I was stunned.

"Yao Yao!" I murmured, staring intently at the girl standing against the wall in the middle of the shop.

When I first saw her, I didn't realize it, but when I stared at her for the second time, I recognized her.

Wang Luyao!

The little sister I've been looking for!

I never expected to see her here! And in this way at that!

Jingjie looked at me, puzzled, and asked, "What did you just say?"

I ignored Jingjie's question and walked straight towards the shop. Jingjie followed behind, puzzled, "Hey, Xiaonan, what are you doing there!"

What were we doing in the past?

Of course, we should go and bring the little sister out of there!

As I arrived at the shop entrance, before I even went inside, the shop owner greeted me with a smile.

"Hey bro, which one got your eye on?"

My eyes were fixed on my younger sister, Wang Luyao, but she kept her head down, looking utterly hopeless.

"Hey bro, stop looking. If you like one, just say so. I'll trade you a can of gasoline for one. Guaranteed virgin," the shopkeeper said, waving his hand in front of my face.

At this moment, Sister Jing came to my side, pulled me aside and said, "Xiaonan, what are you doing?"

I stared at the boss in front of me and said, "The one against the wall, let her go."

The boss frowned and said, "What did you say?"

I shouted angrily, "I said, you one by the wall, let her go! She's my sister!"

The shop owner turned to look at the girl leaning against the wall. Because my voice was loud, all the girls in the shop heard me. Wang Luyao, who was leaning against the wall, looked up and saw me. Her eyes were filled with surprise and joy. She then called out, "Brother!"

She tried to walk over, but as soon as she moved, one of her feet was grabbed. Upon closer inspection, she saw that every girl in the room had an iron chain tied to her foot, preventing them from escaping.

Sister Jing was also surprised when she heard what I said. She looked at Wang Luyao and was stunned for a moment.

The shopkeeper laughed and said, "Brother, let's do business by the rules, okay? Since she's your sister, why don't you just exchange her for a can of gasoline? Don't tell me you don't have any gasoline and are trying to rob me."

I frowned, grabbed the other person's collar, and said angrily, "I'm telling you this one last time, let her go."

"Xiaonan, don't be impulsive," Sister Jing said at this moment. "We have gasoline, we can get it replaced!"

The boss sneered and said, "Brother, don't you think what you're doing is a bit inappropriate? All the girls here are mine. If you want one, you'll have to trade something for her. But judging from your terrible attitude, I'll have to raise the price. If you don't produce two cans of gasoline, I won't give you this girl."

I grabbed his collar, ready to hit him, but Sister Jing pulled me away and whispered in my ear, "Xiaonan! Calm down! What you're doing will only put your sister in a desperate situation! They said they could exchange her for gasoline! Let's exchange her for gasoline! What's the rush!"

I looked at Sister Jing, my breathing rapid. After trying to calm myself down, I realized that I had indeed been too impulsive.
