Chapter 462 Onset

I looked into Zhang Jianzhou's eyes and said, "So you ran here? You ran to the central town?"

Zhang Jianzhou continued, "Yes, I ran here. Because I'm a doctor, they let me stay, and I'm doing pretty well here."

I sneered, went to the bedside, pinched his cheek, and then poked his neck with scissors, squinting as I said, "You think I can't tell that what you're saying is all made up? Zhang Jianzhou, I'm giving you one more chance. Tell me the truth, or I'll kill you right now."

Zhang Jianzhou's face contorted with rage as he said, "Everything I said is true!"

"Stop making excuses! I know you're lying to me."

As I spoke, I opened the scissors and made a cut directly on his neck. Instantly, blood flowed from his neck.

Terrified by the pain in his neck, Zhang Jianzhou cried out, "No, no, no! I'll tell you, I'll tell you! I'll tell you everything!"

This time I didn't let go, but instead shouted angrily, "Speak!"

Zhang Jianzhou said in a panic, "I, I didn't lie to you. Most of what I said just now is true. They did use me for experiments. Otherwise, how could I have survived being bitten by a zombie? It's all because they used me for experiments that I became like this!"

"Anything else? What else didn't you mention?"

Zhang Jianzhou said, "Actually, I didn't escape. It's just that their experiments on me didn't make any progress, so they thought the experiments had failed and gave me a task."

I frowned and asked, "What mission?"

Zhang Jianzhou said, "Find people who aren't afraid of zombies for them."

"People who aren't afraid of zombies?" I was surprised, and this immediately reminded me of the little girl and Lu Yun.

Zhang Jianzhou thought I was asking him, so he explained, "It's those people who can walk freely among hordes of zombies. You may not have seen them. Such people are rare, but they really exist. They are naturally immune to zombies. When they walk among zombies, the zombies can hardly see them and won't bite them."

"They released me so that I could find these people and hand them over to them, because they said these people are key figures in the research institute's zombie antidote, and only they can save the world."

I frowned and stared at Zhang Jianzhou, then asked, "How many people like that have you found?"

Zhang Jianzhou shook his head and said, "Not many. Since I came out, I've only found one person, and I've already sent him over. I've only seen two people like that from beginning to end. I estimate that there are very few people like that."

I stared at him, changed the subject, and asked, "So how did you get to this central town?"

Zhang Jianzhou swallowed hard, licked his dry lips, and said, "My coming here was purely by chance. When I was looking for people who weren't afraid of zombies, I ran into the people from Central Town. One of their people was injured, so I helped him out. Then they saw that I was a doctor, so they let me stay here."

"I think this place is pretty good, and there are a lot of people here. I don't think I can find those people who are not afraid of zombies by myself. Wouldn't it be better to use their strength to search?"

I nodded, then asked, "However, I don't understand, since those people experimented on you back then, why did you still listen to them?"

Zhang Jianzhou looked helpless and said, "You said it yourself! They experimented on me, and now I know I'm immune to zombies. Even if I get bitten by a zombie, I won't turn into one. But the experiments on me are still only half-finished products. I have to take medicine every day, otherwise the virus remaining in my body will take effect and turn me into a zombie! Tell me, if I don't listen to them, and they stop giving me the medicine, won't I be doomed?"

"So you just blindly obey them?" I asked.

Zhang Jianzhou nodded, looking quite helpless.

"Where's your medicine?" I asked.

Upon hearing my words, Zhang Jianzhou's expression immediately changed, and he asked me in terror, "What are you going to do!"

I said, "What do you think I should do?"

Zhang Jianzhou said anxiously, "You can't take my medicine! I'll die if you take it!"

I said, "When did I say I wanted to take your medicine? I just thought it would be better for me to keep it safe for you. After all, we have a grudge against each other, but I don't want to kill you right now, so I need something to control your actions. Otherwise, what if you turn around and send people to kill me after I release you? Wouldn't I be at a huge loss?"

Zhang Jianzhou shook his head and said, "No, I won't do that. After you let me go, we'll pretend nothing happened between us. Besides, I was the one who owed you in the first place. I killed Zhou Yang back then, and you killed me once too. We're even, aren't we? So there's no enmity between us!"

I sneered, "Do you think I'd believe that? I doubt even you would. So hurry up and tell me, where's the medicine? If you don't tell me, I'll just have to leave you here. Didn't you say you'd turn into a zombie if you didn't take your medicine for a day? When you do turn into a zombie, I think Zhang Lincai and the others will definitely kill you."

"So, if you want to live now, there's only one way you can go, and that's to tell me where your medicine is."

I sat there confidently, watching him.

Zhang Jianzhou stared at me, gritting his teeth, unable to contain himself, and cursed directly: "Lu Xiaonan, you bastard! I used to be your teacher!"

I smiled and said, "You said it yourself, you used to be my teacher, but you're not anymore."

Zhang Jianzhou angrily retorted, "Don't you think what you've done is going too far?!"

I shook my head and said, "It's alright."

Zhang Jianzhou's eyes looked like they were spitting fire. He struggled on the hospital bed, but because the ropes were tied too tightly, he couldn't break free at all.

I said, "As long as you tell me where your medicine is, I'll untie you and make you more comfortable."

“You’re dreaming!” Zhang Jianzhou roared.

I raised an eyebrow and said, "Fine, if you won't talk, I won't move. I'll just watch you die here. Anyway, it's past midnight. Let's see how long you can keep this up."

I slowly wore him down. At first, he kept cursing at me, begging for mercy, and resisting.

But after more than an hour, he surrendered and said, "The medicine is in the metal box on top of the cabinet."

I smiled slightly and found a metal box on the top of the cabinet. After opening it, I saw a bottle of medicine inside. The bottle was glass, about the size of my palm, and there was still about half a bottle of medicine inside.

I asked, "How often do you get your medication from them?"
