Chapter 483 Locked in the Pharmacy

"Are you sure?" I asked.

After hearing this, Zhang Jianzhou looked at me as if I were an idiot and said, "Of course I'm sure, otherwise why would I be here?"

I didn't say much and continued on the route he indicated.

Because we couldn't enter the city, we spent the next three hours driving around the edge of the city. Zhang Jianzhou said that we could reach Yuelin Town by going around this unnamed city. I don't know if he was telling the truth, but that's how we're going to get there.

However, I think what he said is true, because this place is already far from the central town. If he were to set up an ambush here, it would be a waste of time and effort, and there would be no need for it at all.

Around nightfall, when it was almost completely dark, we arrived safely at Yuelin Town, as Zhang Jianzhou had mentioned.

We did not encounter any ambushes along the way.

I originally thought we wouldn't arrive until tomorrow, but the journey from the research institute to here has been very safe, and we haven't encountered any large hordes of zombies, so the trip has been incredibly smooth. Although I kept suspecting that Zhang Jianzhou might have set an ambush for me, now that we've safely arrived in Yuelin Town, I think there shouldn't be any problems from now on.

The people in the central town probably don't know what's going on in Yuelin Town, and I don't think he would go around talking about his affairs.

Otherwise, the people in the central town wouldn't believe him.

It's unlikely there will be any ambushes in the central town.

Because it was already getting dark, I parked my car outside Yuelin Town and didn't drive in.

Zhang Jianzhou said there are still quite a few zombies in the town. If I drive in during the day, it might be better so I can see the zombies around me. But it's nighttime now, and it's pitch black so I can't see anything. I can only see the front with the headlights on, and I still can't see the sides and the back.

Moreover, the sound of a car engine can easily attract zombies. If we go in and the zombies hear the engine and surround us, wouldn't we be asking for trouble?

After stopping the car and turning off the engine, the two of us went outside.

The surrounding night was hazy, there weren't many stars in the night sky tonight, and the wind was a bit strong, it felt like it was going to rain.

I asked, "Where do you get your medicine?"

Zhang Jianzhou said, "In a clinic in this town, they will put the medicine in a medicine box."

I nodded and said, "Tomorrow is your one-month anniversary, so if we go and wait there now, we might run into each other?"

Zhang Jianzhou shook his head and said, "I don't know about that. I've never been here at this time before."

I said, "Alright, since that's the case, let's go in and take a look. I hope you're not lying to me, otherwise you know what the consequences will be."

Zhang Jianzhou glanced at me, shook his head helplessly, and didn't say anything more before turning on his flashlight.

I walked ahead, holding a knife in one hand and a flashlight in the other, and entered Yuelin Town.

Zhang Jianzhou followed behind me. To prevent him from suddenly attacking me, I didn't leave him any weapons and just let him follow me.

As long as he's not stupid, he shouldn't lay a hand on me.

After entering the town, I hadn't walked far when I heard the sounds of zombies dying from not far away. I shone my flashlight on it and saw a zombie in a car on my left, its hands outstretched, trying to get out but unable to.

I said to Zhang Jianzhou, "Be careful behind you and to your left and right. Tell me immediately if anything happens."

Zhang Jianzhou said, "Understood."

Because it was nighttime, the situation inside Yuelin Town was not very clear.

Zhang Jianzhou told me that the medical center in Yuelin Town is located in the center of the town. He said that there weren't many zombies in Yuelin Town when he usually came here, so there was no need to worry too much.

I don't know if he's telling the truth or not, but I'm worried about whether there are many or few zombies.

After all, if you don't concentrate, even a single zombie could eat you, let alone a whole town full of zombies.

It was pitch black, and we walked for about five or six minutes.

A light drizzle was still falling from the sky.

The drizzle fell on my face, cool and refreshing, which felt quite nice.

However, getting caught in the rain for too long can easily lead to a cold.

And most importantly, the drizzle was getting heavier and heavier!

We walked for about five minutes, and the drizzle had turned into a light rain! I felt my cheeks were completely wet, and my hair was almost soaked.

I asked, "How much further?"

Zhang Jianzhou wiped the rain off his face and said, "Almost there, almost there. We'll be there in about five or six hundred meters."

Since there are still five or six hundred meters to go, there's no need to find a place to take shelter from the rain. It'll only take a few minutes, and we can take shelter in the infirmary later.

As the rain intensified, the surrounding zombies began to sway.

Rain falls from the sky, making subtle sounds wherever it lands, and zombies are generally drawn to these sounds.

This made it much safer for the two of us to walk in the rain.

However, it's not always the case. Some zombies will suddenly appear in front of us and block our way, at which point we'll have no choice but to fight back.

But once you make a move, the surrounding zombies will be alerted.

This happened two or three times, and at first we carefully went around it.

But the situation was different now, because the zombie in front of me was running straight towards me, and if I didn't act soon, it would run into me!

So I decisively raised my knife and chopped off the head of the zombie that was running towards me.

But as soon as I made that move, the zombie in front of me instantly fell to the ground, making a noise. As a result, all the zombies around us turned around and came towards us.

Seeing this scene gave me goosebumps.

"Run!"

After letting out a low growl, we grabbed our flashlights and ran towards the infirmary. We were about 300 meters away from it, but if we ran as fast as we could, we should be able to make it in time and escape the zombies chasing us.

Most of the zombies behind us walk very slowly, so as long as we run, they can't catch up. But some zombies can run! They are a bit shameless, following us closely, their roars never ceasing, leaving us no room to maneuver.

"We're here! We're at the infirmary!" Zhang Jianzhou shone his flashlight into the distance, and I could vaguely make out the words "infirmary" in the dark rain, along with a cross plus sign next to it.

As for the zombies behind us, they followed us here as well.

We ran into the infirmary without hesitation, then closed and locked the door, keeping the zombies outside out.

I breathed a sigh of relief.
