Chapter 493 Zhong Jianzhou's Situation at the Research Institute

I took a deep breath, and suddenly felt a little helpless.

When I left the research institute, I never imagined that I would end up in Jiajiang, and even come to Jiangbei to see Su Mu.

After getting out of the car, Du Xu said, "Let's go. We've already notified Su Mu. He should be waiting for us on the rooftop now."

Rooftop?

I shook my head and gave a wry smile. It really brings back memories. How many decisions were made on the rooftop back then?

It seems that Su Mu really has a special fondness for rooftops.

We successfully entered Jiangbei, which is now completely different.

The damaged wall on the east side has been repaired, separating it from the demolition site on the other side. The square is planted with many plants, and most importantly, there are far fewer people here. They must have all dispersed, some to school, and some to Biyuan.

In short, Jiangbei is now thriving.

After so long, coming back here, I think most of the people who had met me before would no longer recognize me. After all, it was just a brief encounter, and we didn't have much interaction. They probably all forgot about me.

Our arrival went unnoticed by the people in Jiangbei, who seemed to have gotten used to Du Xu and his group and continued doing their own thing.

Entering the building where Su Mu was located, we went to the rooftop.

The rooftop is pretty much the same as before: a sofa, a coffee table, a ceiling, and that's about it.

And of course, there's the Shetland Sheepdog.

I went up to the rooftop, where Su Mu stood with his hands behind his back, staring down at the scene below.

He turned around, and when he saw me, he was stunned for a moment, his eyes filled with surprise.

A moment later, he walked over and said, "Although I already knew you would come, to be honest, I can't accept seeing you in front of me again."

I stared at him, expressionless, and said, "What? Do you think I can't survive after leaving Jiajiang?"

Su Mu shook his head and said, "No, I know someone like you can survive anywhere, but actually I kind of hope you die out there."

I smiled and said, "Then I'll disappoint you. I didn't die out there."

Du Xu stood to the side, somewhat embarrassed. He clearly hadn't expected things to be so tense right after we met.

Du Xu said awkwardly, "Let's sit down and talk."

Su Mu made a gesture of invitation.

I had no objection and sat facing him on the sofa.

Su Mu looked at me and asked, "What are you planning to do now that you've come back? Did you find it unbearable to live outside, so you came back?"

I shook my head and said, "No, my return was just a coincidence."

Su Mu said, "If it's a coincidence, then why did you come looking for me? Don't you think it's a bit inappropriate?"

I raised an eyebrow, staring at him as I said, "Is it necessary? So much time has passed. Do you still think I want Jiajiang? Why are you always thinking about these things?"

Su Mu said, "There's nothing I can do, that's just who I am."

I said, "My return this time was indeed a coincidence, and I also learned some things, so I plan to leave after I finish these things. Don't worry, I won't get involved in Jiajiang's affairs. I didn't originally want to come here, but someone I know is here, so I wanted to come and see him."

Su Mu frowned and asked, "Someone you know? Who?"

I said, "Zhong Jianzhou."

Su Mu's expression froze for a moment, then he asked in confusion, "You know him?"

I nodded and said, "We know each other, but I don't know if he's the Zhong Jianzhou I know. If you don't mind, could you have him come over? I'd like to meet him."

Su Mu raised his hand and said, "No rush. Tell me first what your relationship is with him. If you are enemies, I won't arrange for you to meet, to avoid any trouble."

I said, "I'm not his enemy. There was a girl in my team named Zhong Linyun, who is Zhong Jianzhou's daughter. If he really is the Zhong Jianzhou I know, I don't think you would stop them from seeing each other, right?"

Su Mu looked at me and asked, "Really?"

I nodded and said, "Really."

Su Mu pondered for a moment and said, "I don't think you would lie to me about this matter. However, Zhong Jianzhou is currently at Biyuan, not in Jiangbei. If you want to see him, you can only go to Biyuan to see him."

I glanced at Du Xu, who also looked helpless.

I said, "Okay, let's go to Biyuan then. I'll also take the opportunity to see what Biyuan looks like. I didn't even know what Biyuan was like when I left."

"I think you'll definitely like it there."

Su Mu chuckled and continued, "But before I go, there are some things I'd like to ask you about."

"What is it?"

Su Mu said, "You've been living outside for the past few months. I'd like to know if you've encountered any raiders?"

I was a little surprised and nodded, saying, "Yes."

Su Mu asked, "So how much do you know about them? I'd love to know everything about them."

I asked, "Have they been to Jiajiang?"

Du Xu had told me before that the raiders had come to Jiajiang, but they were repelled.

Su Mu nodded and said, "Yes, they've come three times in total. We wiped them out twice, but the most recent time a few of them escaped. Since you know about this raider group, could you tell me a little about them?"

I said, "I don't know much about them either. I only know that their weapons are obtained by trading in a place called Central Town. Their purpose in robbing other survivors is to obtain these resources and then trade them for weapons in Central Town."

Su Mu asked in confusion, "Where did the weapons in Central Town come from?"

I smiled and said, "Do I think I know?"

Su Mu nodded, not delving further into the question, but instead changing the subject and asking, "So how many of these raiders are there?"

I shook my head and said, "I don't know, there should be a lot. But these raiders are scattered, they are all small groups, and there are very few large teams. I have encountered a few small groups before, and we wiped them all out."

Su Mu nodded: "Since they are scattered, I am relieved. What I fear most is that they are a group. If they are a group, I am afraid I will not be able to hold Jiajiang."

I said, "Although they are scattered, you still have to be careful because the raiders share information. They will share some rich areas. If they can't take over a place, they will bring others with them. So it's better to be careful."

Su Mu said, "Well, but where is this central town you mentioned?"

I looked at Su Mu and shook my head, saying, "I don't know."

"Of course I know where Central Town is, but I can't tell Su Mu. I know what Su Mu is thinking, but Central Town is too powerful, and I don't want Jiajiang to get involved."
