Chapter 544 Zhang Jianzhou Dies
"ah!"
Zhang Jianzhou screamed and fell to the ground, clutching his thigh and screaming in agony.
There's no way to leave now.
Zhou Liang got out of the car and strolled over to Zhang Jianzhou. He held a gun in his hand but didn't rush to fire. He said, "Well then, I know you really want to live, so I'll give you a chance."
Zhang Jianzhou's face was contorted with rage as he stared at Zhou Liang in disbelief.
Zhou Liang continued, "You have ten minutes to convince me. If you can persuade me not to kill you, then I will save you, understand?"
"I understand, I understand, I understand." Zhang Jianzhou swallowed hard and hurriedly said, enduring the pain.
Of course, if you can live, you'll choose to live. Who would be foolish enough to choose to die? But what can I say to convince him?
Zhou Liang glanced at his watch and said, "Ten minutes. Let's begin now."
Zhang Jianzhou swallowed hard, looking at his thighs and pants, which were soaked with blood. The pain made him lose consciousness, and he had no idea what to say to persuade Zhou Liang.
A minute passed, and Zhang Jianzhou still didn't know what to say.
He swallowed hard and said, "I... I can also help you take control of the entire central town, as long as you save me and then kill Lu Xiaonan, I can definitely help you do that!"
Zhou Liang sneered, "Even without Lu Xiaonan and you, I can do it all by myself, so it's not possible."
Zhang Jianzhou racked his brains and hurriedly said, "I know all the shady dealings in Central Town, I know the relationships between them, and I know how they operate. I know all of this. As long as you let me live, I will tell you everything about Central Town."
Zhou Liang shook his head. He was joking. He knew all these things in less than a week, so why would he need someone else to tell him?
Besides, even if you tell me, who knows if you're telling the truth?
Zhang Jianzhou wore a pained expression; his face had begun to turn pale due to continuous blood loss.
Zhang Jianzhou said a lot, but Zhou Liang just kept sneering.
In the end, he collapsed due to excessive blood loss, his breath weak, his face pale, and he basically had no strength to breathe.
Zhang Jianzhou glanced at the puncture wound in his thigh and knew he was beyond saving.
"Kill me." Zhang Jianzhou stared at Zhou Liang with blurry eyes.
Zhou Liang said, "No rush. If you wait any longer, you'll bleed to death, and I won't waste my bullets."
"Why! Why did you kill me!"
Zhou Liang said, "Some things still need to be kept secret. Given Lu Xiaonan and my current situation, if you actually show up alive in Central Town, we're basically finished. So you have to die. Once you're dead, this secret will be gone forever. That's the safest way."
Zhang Jianzhou closed his eyes, a bitter smile on his lips.
Zhou Liang said, "Lu Xiaonan is still too soft-hearted. If it were me, I would have torn you to pieces long ago. How could I have kept you alive until now? You're just making trouble. But it's alright now anyway, you're going to die soon anyway."
Zhang Jianzhou was no longer able to speak, and he was barely breathing.
In less than two minutes, he was completely dead.
Zhou Liang checked him over and only felt relieved after confirming that he was really dead.
Then, Zhou Liang stood up, looked around, drove the car over from a distance, loaded Zhang Jianzhou's body onto it, and began searching for our trail.
...
Half an hour later, Zhou Liang's car appeared in front of us.
When Zhang Lincai saw the two cars that suddenly appeared, he became a little nervous and hurriedly ordered his men to prepare for battle.
But when he saw that the person getting out of the car was Zhou Liang, he breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "Zhou Liang, weren't you in the central town? Why are you out again?"
Zhou Liang said, "I was afraid you wouldn't be able to find it, so I came out with you to look for it."
I looked at Zhou Liang, wondering if he had found Zhang Jianzhou.
"Did you find it?" Zhang Lincai asked.
Zhou Liang nodded and said, "We found him, but unfortunately, he's already dead."
"Dead? How did he die?" Zhang Lincai asked in surprise, beckoning me to jump out of the pickup truck together. "Where is he?"
Zhou Liang pointed to the car and said, "It's in the trunk. Go check it out yourself."
I walked over to Zhou Liang and saw his calm expression. I wanted to ask, but felt it wasn't the right time. Since Zhou Liang said Zhang Jianzhou was dead, then Zhang Jianzhou must be dead.
It seems that Zhou Liang killed Zhang Jianzhou, but I don't know how he found Zhang Jianzhou.
Zhang Lincai then opened the trunk of the car and hurriedly called out, "Lu Xiaonan, come and see what's going on."
I went to the trunk and saw Zhang Jianzhou's body stuffed inside. After confirming, I found that he was indeed dead.
"How did he die?" Zhang Lincai asked, puzzled.
I looked him over and found no other wounds except for a gunshot wound that went through his thigh.
"Let's get him down first, and I'll check him myself."
Zhang Lincai had someone lift Zhang Jianzhou out of the trunk and lay him flat on the ground.
After examining him, I said, "He died from excessive blood loss. He was shot in the leg and lost too much blood while running away. He couldn't hold on any longer, so he died."
"But how could someone die from blood loss after just one shot? I was shot in the leg last time, and I survived for a long time without any problems!" Zhang Lin said in disbelief.
I said, "Judging from his bleeding condition, it must be a ruptured major artery. Otherwise, with his abilities, he could have held on for a long time."
After hearing my words and looking at Zhang Jianzhou's corpse, Zhang Lincai had no choice but to believe it, even if he didn't want to.
After all, the person is already dead, so nothing we say now will make a difference.
Zhang Lincai said, "Let's deal with him first, then bring him back to the central town. I'll summon the higher-ups and hold a meeting. This matter is of utmost importance; we can't just let it go like this."
I didn't say much, and Zhou Liang stood to the side in silence as well.
I glanced at Zhou Liang and figured he must have killed Zhang Jianzhou. The blood on Zhang Jianzhou's thigh hadn't seeped into his feet, clearly indicating he hadn't moved after being shot.
It must be because of Zhou Liang.
But none of that matters. Now that Zhang Jianzhou is dead, I've learned something and eliminated a threat.
There's nothing to worry about anymore.
Unfortunately, there were still many things I couldn't get out of him. It seems I can only talk about those things now, since they're not important for the time being.
