Chapter 552 The Situation of Central Town
The next morning, I woke up in my bed and checked the time; it was only six o'clock.
I got back to sleep at 1 a.m. last night and only slept for about four hours, but because of what happened in the central town, I can't sleep at all now.
After getting up, I left a note in my room, then left the hotel alone without waking up Sister Jing and the others. I went to the resort's parking lot, took a car key from the manager, and the truck left the resort, heading towards the central town.
I want to go and see how things are in the central town now, and whether Yao Chengjie and his men's sneak attack was successful.
I don't want to wait any longer.
We must figure out the current situation.
After driving for more than two hours, I was extremely hungry because I hadn't eaten breakfast, and I felt a bit sluggish.
I stopped the car, opened the trunk, and saw that there were quite a few guns inside, as well as some food and drinks. Without saying a word, I took some out, ate some, and after recovering for a while, I continued on my way.
I'm not far from the town center now; I'll be there in a few minutes.
When I arrived in the central town and saw the state of the town, I was shocked.
The shipping containers in front of the town center were fine, but a building next to it collapsed, seemingly from an explosion.
It's already past eight in the morning, and there are quite a few people cleaning up around the collapsed building. Apart from that, I haven't seen any bodies, and I don't know if anyone has died.
When I arrived at the main gate of the town center, I saw two men guarding the gate. The moment they saw me driving over, they raised their guns and ordered me to stop.
The moment I got out of the car and they saw me, they put down their guns.
Because they know me.
One of them even exclaimed excitedly, "Dr. Lu! You're finally back! Hurry, hurry, come inside! There are wounded waiting for you to treat them!"
Hearing this, I nodded blankly and asked in confusion, "What happened here?"
One of them said, "There was an attack on the central town last night, and several people died. You should go in quickly."
"Okay, I'll go in now."
They opened the door for me, and I saw quite a few people in the center of town.
In addition, I saw many corpses on the ground inside the door. These corpses all had bloody holes in their heads and wounds of varying degrees on their bodies.
I roughly counted, and there were about seven people lying in a row on the ground.
These people probably died shortly after being injured, or they may have been killed by the explosion from the beginning. So, to prevent them from turning into zombies, the people of Central Town shot them in the head again, which would make it easier to deal with them.
I walked inside, and soon I saw Zhang Lincai's figure.
Zhang Lincai's arms and head were wrapped in gauze, and blood seeped through the gauze. But he didn't stop and kept busy. I glanced at the bar and found that it had also been bombed. A strong smell of alcohol was coming from the ruins of the bar. It looked like a lot of alcohol was gone. I guess Zhang Lincai was heartbroken.
I walked up to Zhang Lincai, and the moment he saw me, he exclaimed in surprise, "Dr. Lu! You, what brings you here?"
I said, "Didn't I tell you before that I would come back after I settled them in?"
Zhang Lincai realized, "Oh, right, you did say that."
I asked, "What happened to the central town? How did it become like this? It looks like it was bombed?"
Zhang Lincai was covering his forehead. I saw him staggering, so I quickly went over to support him and said, "You should rest for a bit. Let me check you out."
Zhang Lin nodded and sat down on the stool next to me after listening to my words. As I examined him, he said, "Someone came to attack Central Town in the middle of the night last night. If we hadn't reacted quickly, the entire Central Town would probably have been blown up."
I was shocked and immediately asked, "Who is it? Who is so ruthless?"
Zhang Lincai said, "Who else could it be but Yao Chengjie's gang? Hmph, but they were unlucky. If Zhou Liang hadn't reacted quickly and caught them, Central Town probably wouldn't have survived."
My hands trembled the moment I heard those words.
Has anyone from Yao Chengjie's group been arrested?
I swallowed hard and asked cautiously, "Who got caught?"
Zhang Lincai said, "He's a nobody, I don't know his name. Zhou Liang is interrogating him right now. I reckon that guy will confess soon. I'll definitely kill them then. Damn it, they blew up all my treasured wine. They're insane."
Zhang Lincai's words left me feeling somewhat helpless.
But what's done is done, and everyone has been caught. There's nothing I can do. As long as it's not Pu Weichao, I don't care about anyone else.
After examining him, I said, "It's all superficial injuries, nothing serious. However, I suspect you have a mild concussion. Don't do any more work, or you might faint."
Zhang Lincai nodded and said, "I understand. Don't worry about me. Go to the infirmary and see. There are quite a few injured people there."
"Okay, I understand."
I left the bar and hurried to the infirmary.
Upon entering, I saw that there were quite a few people in the medical room, but they all had minor injuries. They were basically bandaging each other and were not seriously hurt.
My arrival surprised them, but it also gave them hope.
When they saw me, they hurriedly said, "Dr. Lu, you've finally arrived! Quick, quick, come in and see Old Zhou, his stomach has been blown open!"
Upon hearing this, I rushed into the inner room and saw the old Zhou they were talking about lying on the bed, his face pale, bleeding profusely from his abdomen, which was stuffed with gauze, but the bleeding could not be stopped.
I went to the bedside and said, "Don't worry, let me take a look."
I lifted the gauze covering his injury and saw the condition of his abdomen; I felt helpless.
His stomach was ripped open, revealing his intestines inside, which were a horrifying, blood-red color.
There's simply no way to save him in this condition.
I glanced at the people around me and saw the gun on the other man's leg. I pulled it out and said, "He's beyond saving. If you have anything to say to him, say it. After you're done, remember to give him a quick death."
I cocked the pistol and handed it to one of the men, then turned and left the room to treat the others' wounds.
I don't know how much time passed, but I heard a gunshot coming from the inner room, which surprised everyone.
I paused, sighed, and continued treating their wounds.
