Chapter 628 Meeting

Chapter 629 Meeting

Time flies, and the day after tomorrow at nine o'clock in the morning will be the agreed meeting time.

I brought my men to the reservoir. As for Zhu Zhenhao, he didn't come. The reason is simple: someone still needs to keep an eye on the school. Who knows if that Zhou boss will launch another surprise attack? So it's safer to have Zhu Zhenhao keep an eye on things there.

As for this side, I brought Lao Li here, along with two other people, who were basically fully armed and carrying guns.

Actually, I had them come to the reservoir to keep watch last night, to prevent the other side from setting up an ambush here and leaving us at a loss.

After a night of surveillance to make sure no one was lying in ambush, we finally arrived here.

It's already nine o'clock, and the other party hasn't shown up yet.

Old Li asked, "They haven't shown up yet. Could it be that they're afraid to come?"

I chuckled and said, "Why don't you mention that Chen Yuanlin didn't deliver the message yesterday?"

Old Li said, "Probably not. Since they were able to get to the school safely from their side, they must have a way to get back safely. The message should have been delivered."

“You said it yourself, it should be true, but whether it was actually delivered or not, nobody knows. It’s very likely, as you said, that they don’t dare to come over. After all, they already knew the strength of the base when they raided it before. Plus, considering what Chen Yuanlin said yesterday, we can basically conclude that their strength isn’t that great,” I said.

Old Li nodded. "That's possible, but there's one thing I find strange."

I asked, "What?"

Old Li said, "Yesterday you told us that these people sometimes get to eat meat, which I just don't understand. We haven't had meat here for more than half a year. How can they, who have trouble even getting enough to eat, possibly have meat to eat?"

I smiled and said, "Humans are made of flesh too."

Old Li's expression changed instantly.

To be honest, when I first heard Chen Yuanlin say that they sometimes had meat to eat, I didn't quite believe it. I thought he was just making things up. But looking at him at the time, I figured he had no reason to lie to me about such a small thing.

So I thought about it for a long time yesterday. Although I kept trying to deny it, after careful consideration, I realized that this was probably the only way they could eat meat. Moreover, judging from their situation, they don't have many opportunities to eat meat, and they don't care what kind of meat it is, as long as they have something to eat.

Based on this, it's highly likely that what they were eating was human flesh.

As for why they can only eat them occasionally, it's probably because they eat homeless people who pass through their area, get captured, killed, and eaten.

All of this is possible.

We waited for about half an hour, but the other party did not appear.

Old Li said impatiently, "I don't think they're going to show up. Maybe we should just go back."

I said, "Don't rush, wait another half hour. If they still don't show up after half an hour, then we'll..."

Before I could finish speaking, I saw several strangers appear in the distance.

Among them was Chen Yuanlin, whom I released yesterday.

I said, "Look, they're here now."

I looked at them, and including Chen Yuanlin, there were five of them in total, exactly the same number as our group.

After they came up to us, the one in the lead stepped forward and asked, "Who sent me here?"

With my hands in my pockets, I asked, "You're Boss Zhou?"

The man in front of me was middle-aged, with a slightly high forehead and a receding hairline. He wore sunglasses and was dressed lightly. "It's me, the one who sent me?"

I said, "It's windy outside, let's go inside and talk."

There's a concrete building next to us. It used to be a monitoring station, but now it's abandoned.

Old Zhou turned his head and glanced at the small cement house, then said, "Okay, just the two of us?"

I nodded and said, "Yes, just the two of us."

Boss Zhou sneered, "I hope you don't try anything funny in there, or none of you will be leaving here today."

When I heard this, I didn't understand what it meant at first, but after thinking about it carefully, I suddenly stopped and turned around to whisper in Old Li's ear, "Send a message to headquarters and tell them to come and provide support. Make sure everyone has a gun."

Old Li didn't say a word, and his expression remained unchanged.

Boss Zhou didn't notice the interaction between me and Lao Li.

After we entered the concrete house, I closed the door.

When Boss Zhou saw what I did, he laughed and asked, "Are you trying to double-cross me?"

I chuckled and said, "Eating from each other? You think we're all shady characters?"

Old Zhou laughed: "Isn't that right?"

I shook my head and said, "You may be black, but I am not."

Old Zhou pulled up a chair and sat down, saying, "Don't try to make yourself look good. Although I don't know you and don't know much about the situation over there, we've all got some lives on our hands by now, don't you think? If you say you've never killed anyone, I don't believe you."

I said, "I have indeed killed people."

Boss Zhou said, "Isn't that settled? You've already killed people, and you still say you're innocent? Have you no shame?"

I laughed and said, "I have indeed killed people, but I have never eaten them."

Boss Zhou was stunned for a moment, but then he pretended to be terrified and said, "What are you talking about? Do you think I've ever eaten people?!"

I laughed and said, "Did I say you've eaten people?"

Boss Zhou curled his lip. "Alright, alright, stop with the nonsense. Tell me, what do you want from me?"

I said, "Let's discuss the matter of your previous ambush on us."

Boss Zhou stared at me. "What's there to discuss? What, you're not happy about it?"

I said, "I am indeed a little unconvinced..."

Boss Zhou sneered, "If you're not convinced, then so be it. What does it have to do with me?"

I said, "You gave the order to launch the attack, so you're the one who did it. So many of my men died, and you think it has nothing to do with you? If I had my men kill your men outside now, would you have any objections?"

Boss Zhou narrowed his eyes, "If you dare to make a move, none of you will leave here alive today."

I stared at him, not intimidated at all, and said, "Don't waste my breath on me. Don't you want me to go back alive? You, surnamed Zhou, who do you think you are? Do you think you have the ability?"

The moment I finished speaking, Boss Zhou pulled out a gun and pointed it at my head.

I wasn't idle either. Knowing he was about to pull out his gun, I instantly snatched it from his hand and quickly disassembled it into parts.
