Chapter 650 Escape

Chapter 651 Escape

"Run!" I said to Hu Fei.

Before the guys guarding the door could react, Hu Fei and I had already run past them and out of there, and they hurriedly chased after us.

I didn't expect things to turn out this way. I should have known better than to threaten Chu Fei. Sigh, I was really stupid.

I'd been here before, so I knew how to get out. I led Hu Fei straight towards the main gate. A short while later, I heard gunshots behind us. Turning around, I saw that the group had caught up with us.

"This way!" I quickly turned the corner to avoid being shot.

The main gate was still quite far from here. I looked around and realized there was a side gate we could use, so I quickly ran over with Hu Fei. The people behind us were obviously more familiar with the area than I was.

In no time at all, they caught up with us again!

I picked up my pistol, aimed it at them, and fired a few shots, slowing their pursuit down somewhat.

However, this didn't have much effect. I led Hu Fei to the side gate of the mansion. The side gate wasn't locked; it opened with a push. There was no one holding the door open either, so we decisively ran out.

Outside the gate was the road leading up the mountain. Hu Fei originally wanted to go down the mountain, but it was too dangerous. His group would definitely have an ambush below, so he had no choice but to go up the mountain.

The mountain path was rugged and covered with trees, providing ample opportunity to evade their pursuit. However, the path up the mountain was indeed quite steep; after only a few steps, Hu Fei and I were already panting.

But hearing the footsteps chasing us from behind, we dared not relax and had no choice but to grit our teeth and run up the mountain.

You don't necessarily have to cross this mountain; you just need to find a place to hide.

I don't know if we were running too fast, but after three to five minutes, the footsteps behind us disappeared.

"I can't go on anymore, I need to rest for a bit." I sat down, leaning on the steps in front of me; I simply couldn't run anymore.

Hu Fei, also panting, sat down next to me and started complaining, "Are you out of your mind? Saying such nonsense to that guy, when did the Delta become your territory?"

I said, "I just wanted to scare him and see if he really wanted to save Wu Shuang. Now it's out, he doesn't want to save Wu Shuang at all."

Hu Fei said, "That's not the point! The point is you could have used a completely different method!"

I said, "I couldn't think of anything else at the time, so I just said that. Okay, let's keep going, lest they catch up with us."

Helpless, Hu Fei got up with me again and continued climbing the mountain. The mountain wasn't high, and we reached the top in just a few minutes, then began to descend from the other side.

With no one chasing us, we were temporarily out of danger.

When we reached the foot of the mountain, we were both exhausted. We found a place to hide and lay down to catch our breath.

A few minutes later, Hu Fei asked, "What do you plan to do now? Go and rescue Wu Shuang?"

I said, "Yes, but let's go back to the office building first, make some preparations, and then figure out a way to find Wu Shuang."

Hu Fei said, "But you don't even know where Wu Shuang is, how are you going to find him?"

I chuckled and said, "That's easy. You've forgotten about Li Sanyang's deal with Longhu tomorrow. Li Sanyang will definitely contact Longhu and have them deliver the weapons to the designated location. All we have to do is follow Longhu's people."

Hu Fei frowned and said, "I have a feeling it's not that simple. Do you think the people from Longhu would find them so easily? That Chu Fei clearly didn't want to exchange weapons. Li Sanyang will definitely understand that, so..."

“I know!” I interrupted Hu Fei. “I understand everything you’re saying. Li Sanyang dared to leave Longhu and go it alone, and he’s already developed a team of over a hundred people. His strength is definitely not to be underestimated. He must have thought of Longhu’s plan, but so what? If I don’t follow him, I won’t even have a chance to find Wu Shuang.”

Hu Fei thought about it and realized it made sense, so he said helplessly, "Okay."

I said, "I'll go alone tomorrow, you don't need to come with me. I didn't expect so many things to happen when I came to Hangzhou to find Wu Shuang, and this has already dragged you into this."

Hu Fei asked, "Are you sure?"

I said, "I'm sure this is my own business. I only brought you here because I wanted someone to keep me company. Now go back to the office building and wait. Once I find Wu Shuang, we'll go home."

Hu Fei stood up, walked up to me, patted my shoulder, and said with a smile, "Let's forget it! I came with you in the first place because I was afraid something might happen to you on the way, or that you might die in Hangzhou and I wouldn't be able to explain it to Sister Jing and the others when we got back. So I'll just come with you, in case something happens to you."

I said, "But what if something happens...?"

Hu Fei said, "If something happened, then something happened. It just means it's my fate. If we're lucky enough to survive, then it means we're not destined to die. Okay, let's not think about it anymore. Let's go back first and talk about it then."

With no pursuers behind them, they probably didn't bother chasing them anymore.

However, just as the two were about to leave the house, the door suddenly opened, and Su Yuanqing, panting, pushed it open and walked in.

I quickly pointed my pistol at him, and he raised his hands and said, "Don't shoot, don't shoot! I'm all alone, no one came with me."

Hu Fei went outside to check, and indeed there was no one else there.

I grabbed him and led him into the house, asking, "How did you get here?"

Su Yuanqing said, "I searched for a long time in the vicinity before I found you. Don't worry, I didn't mean anything by it. I just wanted to save Wu Shuang."

I was surprised. "You want to save Wu Shuang?"

Su Yuanqing nodded, "Yes, I did feel a little bad about what I did before, but I also broke my hand. I really didn't mean any harm to Wu Shuang; I genuinely wanted to save her."

I said, "Why should I trust you? Who knows if you were sent by Chu Fei to keep an eye on us?"

Su Yuanqing said, "The leader wants to kill you. If I really was sent by the leader, you would be dead already. I know you don't believe me, but I can help you! I have two walkie-talkies. The leader has already started gathering people to arrange tomorrow's operation. I can use the walkie-talkies to tell you about their actions so you can go and rescue Wu Shuang."

I looked at the walkie-talkie, took it, and said, "I hope what you're saying is true. Don't lie to me, or I'll make you suffer a terrible death."

"I know, I wouldn't lie to you."

After he finished speaking, I hit him on the back of the head with the butt of the gun, and he immediately passed out.
