Chapter 724 The Negotiation That Cannot Be Heard
I'm still outside the park and don't know what's going on inside, but judging from their expressions, they seem to have just sat down and started talking.
A large crowd, at least fifty people, had gathered around the pavilion. The two sides were evenly matched and neither side was willing to give way.
Seeing this, I was conflicted because there were so many people around the pavilion that it was practically impossible to get close to them, which meant I couldn't hear what they were saying.
Is there any way to get closer?
I looked around the park and was a bit conflicted. The area around the pavilion was very open, making it virtually impossible to find a place to hide.
Is there really no way to get close?
As I thought about this, I cautiously approached the park. The outside of the park was quite secluded, and the park was full of trees. I used these hidden spots to carefully get closer, afraid of being discovered.
I didn't know which way to go next, because I had unknowingly arrived near the pavilion. If I got any closer, they would probably spot me, which would completely disrupt Pu Weichao's plans.
After much deliberation, I decided to stay here and not move. Pu Weichao was in the pavilion, and I stared at his expression. I was surprised to find that he showed absolutely no expression.
I have no idea what their leaders are discussing, which really piques my curiosity, but unfortunately, I can't hear anything from that far away.
I glanced around and realized I had to find a way to get closer, but how exactly should I do that?
There were people all around the pavilion. Could it be that I should disguise myself as one of them?
That's utterly delusional! They all know each other, and pretending to be one of them is just asking for trouble.
After much thought, I still couldn't come up with a solution, so I had no choice but to retreat for the time being.
To my surprise, as I cautiously backed away, Pu Weichao suddenly looked in my direction. I noticed a strange expression on his face before he returned to normal, which puzzled me. I wondered if he had already noticed my presence.
Immediately, I turned around and ran out of the park.
If he discovers my presence, then I don't need to stay here any longer.
I came here with the intention of eavesdropping on their discussion, but now there's no way to do so. Plus, Pu Weichao has already discovered my presence, so staying here will only cause him trouble. It's better to just leave and lie in ambush in the surrounding area.
After I left the park, I ran back into the alleyway and saw two people suddenly walk by outside. Both of them were carrying weapons, and they were chatting as they came over.
I was surprised when I overheard their conversation, because they were talking about negotiations.
"Do you think this negotiation will succeed? What are the people from the larger community trying to do? They were putting pressure on us before, targeting us everywhere. We were clearly at a disadvantage, and we hadn't even considered negotiating. Why are they suddenly trying to negotiate with us?"
"Who knows? Maybe they've gone crazy, or maybe they're just brain-dead."
"I think there's definitely something fishy going on here. It's very likely that the negotiations are part of a larger community's conspiracy. What if they take action during the negotiations? Wouldn't our boss be finished?"
“I don’t think we need to be afraid of this. Don’t forget Pu Weichao. That guy is a monster. Since he came here, he has foreseen everything, including what was going to happen in the Big Community and the last time the Big Community ambushed us. He foresaw all of that. If he hadn’t killed many people in the Big Community, I would have suspected that he was an undercover agent sent by the Big Community to infiltrate us.”
"Yeah, I feel that way too. He is indeed very capable, and I trust him quite a bit. Besides, we've never seen him in the big community before. If he really came from the big community, someone as capable as him couldn't possibly be completely unknown."
"Yeah, so we can only count on him. I think the boss trusts him a lot. I think as long as Pu Weichao is around, it's only a matter of time before we take over the big community!"
"Yes, I believe that too!"
When I heard them talking about Pu Weichao, I was a little stunned and couldn't quite process it. I didn't expect Pu Weichao to have climbed up the ranks in the third-party team so quickly. Now he's practically a figure close to the leader.
The two men outside the alley had already walked away. They didn't say much about the negotiations, and it's likely that they were sent to patrol outside the park and didn't know what had happened.
However, it is certain that the negotiations were initiated by people from the larger community.
I'm wondering if it's because after their surprise attack on the army resulted in their complete annihilation, they don't have much strength left and want to negotiate with a third-party team to reach a ceasefire agreement first?
It seems very likely that this is the case; if that's the case, this matter could become a huge scandal.
I just don't know if the third-party team will actually agree.
I don't know what Pu Weichao will do.
...
Two hours later, their negotiations ended. I waited for a full two hours on the building outside the park. Then, I saw Pu Weichao say something to his leader and run over here alone. I knew without a doubt that he was coming to find me.
I rushed down to the alleyway and saw him run out of the park, carefully look around, and then cross the road into the alleyway.
We didn't talk in the alleyway; it was too dangerous there, and it wouldn't be good if someone saw us.
I pulled him straight into the building and closed the door.
He frowned and asked directly, "Why did you come here?"
I said, "I followed the large community after I found out where they were, hoping to see what was going on, but I couldn't get close, so I had to retreat first."
Pu Weichao's expression was very unpleasant. He said, "Do you know how reckless you are? What if you get caught?"
I knew he was a little angry, so I said, "Don't be angry. I know this is dangerous, and I'll be careful. Can you tell me what's going on with this negotiation?"
Pu Weichao said, "Don't rush. Let me ask you, has the army had a conflict with the large community?"
I nodded and said, "Yes, the people from the larger community tried to ambush the army, but we counter-ambushed them and killed fifty of them."
