Yan Zhengfeng and Pu Weichao left through the back door. When they left, Fei Lichao gave them all the ammunition, keeping only a gun for himself.
"Where's my brother?" Zhong Linyun asked me, crying.
I washed her face with clean water. The abrasions on her face weren't serious, just a small patch. There was some bleeding from the abrasions on her palms, but it was fine; it would be fine after washing.
"Your brother will be back soon, don't worry," I reassured him.
The girl in front of me is only fourteen years old. Her father is already dead. If her brother gets into trouble again, how can she bear it?
I hope nothing bad happens to Zhong Linxuan.
"What do we do now?" Li Qiming asked, holding his son.
All eyes were on Fei Lichao.
With Pu Weichao absent, everyone can only place their hopes on Fei Lichao.
"Aww—"
Fei Lichao stared anxiously at the group of monsters outside the door. It was clear that he was also worried about Zhong Linxuan and Pu Weichao.
"Wait," Fei Lichao said decisively.
I glanced at Fei Lichao; he seemed lost and confused. The monsters outside the fast food restaurant practically blocked the entire street. Fei Lichao was probably quite annoyed. We had planned to set off, but after only two hours, this happened.
After crying for a while, Zhong Linyun stopped crying and quietly held my hand, but she kept hiding behind me, not daring to look at the monsters outside.
I glanced at everyone present and noticed that they were very resistant to the monsters outside.
I frowned slightly and said, "Why don't we go upstairs and take a look?"
"Upstairs?" Chen Su asked, puzzled.
“Yeah, it’s too dangerous to stay here. This door is made of glass. There are so many monsters outside. If they all crowd in, this glass door won’t last long. What if it breaks? Wouldn’t we be in danger?” I said.
Fei Lichao agreed with me, "Xiaonan is right, it's too damn dangerous for us to stay here. Let's go upstairs and see if we can find a way to lure the zombies away from outside."
Once we had an idea, we immediately took action.
Fei Lichao and Shen Dian went up to check first, and after confirming that everything was alright, we went up.
When we arrived on the second floor, we discovered that the corridor was a single, interconnected walkway, allowing access to buildings on both sides. Upon closer inspection, we found that it consisted of office areas, housing many companies.
There weren't any monsters in the corridor, but it was unclear what was going on in the offices, because we could vaguely hear roaring sounds coming from them.
We didn't pay much attention and went into an office above the fast food restaurant. The office wasn't big, just like the fast food restaurant below. Because of the crowded layout, there was basically enough room for all of us.
Arriving at the window, I thought I could see Pu Weichao and the others, but I couldn't find them at all.
There were a lot of monsters on the road, and they were all crowded in front of the fast food restaurant. Our two cars were in the middle of the road.
I glanced at everyone and noticed that they all looked worried and didn't seem to have any solutions.
There was nothing we could do about it; no one could have predicted that we would be trapped here.
Li Qiming, holding his son, said, "What do we do now? Should we leave through the back door after they come back?"
Lu Jing frowned and said, "But all our things are in the car now, aren't we going to take them with us?"
Fei Lichao and I exchanged a glance and said, "If they can't take it, then don't. There's no need to risk your life for such a small thing. Let's just wait here until they come back."
Everyone fell silent. After all, Fei Lichao was right: supplies were important, but not as important as one's own life.
I thought for a moment, then looked around as I approached the office. The corridor was long enough to reach both ends of the building.
Back in the office, he said, "Actually, it's not that there's no way to get the things from the car."
"You have a way?" Fei Lichao stared at me.
“Hmm,” I nodded and said, “There seem to be a lot of monsters outside, but most of them are concentrated at the entrance of the fast food restaurant. There are very few monsters on the other two sides. If we go to the other side and make some noise, these monsters will definitely run over when they hear the noise, and then the entrance of the fast food restaurant will be empty. That way, we will be safer.”
"But the risk is huge, what if we choose the wrong place..."
Bang!
Suddenly, before Li Qiming could finish speaking, a gunshot rang out from afar.
We were all stunned and quickly peered out the window.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three more gunshots rang out in the distance. We peered out the window toward the direction from which the gunshots came, but we couldn't see anything.
"Look!" Lu Jing exclaimed, pointing to the group of monsters waiting at the entrance of the fast food restaurant below.
Upon hearing several gunshots from afar, the monsters turned around and staggered toward the direction from which the gunshots came. Some of the monsters were very fast and ran straight there.
In no time, the area in front of the fast food restaurant was empty, with only a few monsters remaining, the vast majority of whom had already left.
"What luck! They've all left!" Li Qiming said with a smile.
"It should be Pu Weichao and his group," I said.
The only ones who could fire from a distance are Pu Weichao and Yan Zhengfeng. They must have found that kid Zhong Linxuan, right?
"What do we do now? All the zombies downstairs have left. Should we go to the car and get something?" Lu Jing asked.
