Chapter 77 not found

(It's past midnight. Please recommend and add to your favorites. Sigh, I'm still struggling. It's really frustrating. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. I'm extremely grateful.)

The six of us set off together from the fast food restaurant, looking for Zhong Linxuan.

I was holding a machete, while Li Qiming was holding an axe.

It had been almost two minutes since we left the fast food restaurant. We had turned two corners, and the restaurant was long gone from our sight.

“Actually, you didn’t need to come along.” After we arrived in the alley and looked around to make sure there were no monsters, I said to Li Qiming beside me.

"Why do you say that?" Li Qiming asked curiously.

"Because you still have a son, if you're out there..."

"Stop, stop, stop." Li Qiming raised his hand to stop me from continuing. "Don't curse me. You know I have a son. Is it appropriate for you to say that?"

"I'm sorry," I said with a wry smile.

Li Qiming said, "There's nothing we can do about it, isn't there? The two Zhongs are just kids. If that boy dies, what will happen to his sister? Besides, I have some connection with Zhong Jianzhou. He's already dead, and I can't just watch his son die too."

I nodded without arguing.

Li Qiming continued, "Moreover, although we haven't known each other for very long, I can tell that everyone in our team is a good person; otherwise, they wouldn't be so concerned about this matter. To be honest, I'm very fortunate to have met so many good people."

I smiled slightly and said, "Indeed."

Li Qiming patted my shoulder and said, "Alright, we came out here to find someone, not to chat idly."

We don't know where Zhong Linxuan has gone.

I can only search aimlessly, relying solely on my intuition.

This search is very inefficient, but there is no other way now, and we all know that if we can't find him before 4 o'clock, Zhong Linxuan is probably doomed.

Even if he were still alive, we couldn't keep waiting for him here forever.

We discussed this issue when we were in Linshan. If anyone got separated from the group, we would search for them for a maximum of two days. If they hadn't reappeared after two days, we would have to leave. Everyone agreed to this when we were in Linshan.

This applies to everyone.

Even me.

Two hours later, Li Qiming and I had walked three blocks, but we still couldn't find any trace of Zhong Linxuan.

"Why don't we go back? I don't think this kid could have run that far," Li Qiming said, looking at the hotel in front of them.

I looked around and realized that it was indeed quite far from the fast food restaurant where we had started. Since we were traveling in a straight line, we had covered a considerable distance.

"Yes, it's too far."

I said something and turned to walk back.

"Wait a minute. Look!" Li Qimin suddenly grabbed me and pointed to the sidewalk not far to the west.

"What's wrong?" I asked, looking curiously in the direction he was pointing. I didn't know what he was referring to, but I saw a lot of monsters on the sidewalk over there.

"Come on, let's go take a look." Li Qiming pulled me along and jogged over.

"Huh?" I asked, puzzled. I followed behind him, providing cover, and along the way, we killed quite a few monsters.

In no time we reached the middle of the sidewalk. Li Qiming picked up the down jacket from the ground. There was a large tear in the jacket, and white down was peeking out from inside. The tear looked like it had been bitten open.

“Isn’t this that kid’s jacket?” Li Qiming said.

"Are you sure?" I asked doubtfully.

Li Qiming was not sure at first, but after rummaging through his pockets, he took out a bag of biscuits and said, "I'm sure. I gave him this biscuit this morning, and he's kept it in his pocket ever since."

I know about this cookie too.

Before setting off, to avoid losing food, everyone took a biscuit and put it in their pocket, just in case.

“It looks like he’s nearby,” Li Qiming said, frowning.

"Let's look for it," I said.

Now all we can do is keep looking. Finding Zhong Linxuan's jacket was a pleasant surprise; maybe the kid hasn't gone far and is still around.

But the area around here is so big, how are we supposed to find it? We can't just split up with Li Qiming to search, that would be too dangerous.

But if we don't separate, it will be too much trouble for the two of us to search for each other.

It would be great if we could notify Fei Lichao and the others.

However, just when we were at our wits' end, a cry for help suddenly came from the alley next to the hotel ahead.

"Help!"

The cry for help was so loud that even the monsters in the distance heard it. They immediately turned around and staggered toward the alleyway.

Li Qiming and I were standing on the sidewalk when so many monsters suddenly turned around, and we two innocent victims became their prey.

"Aww—"

I realized something was wrong and urged, "Run!"

Li Qiming and I ran towards the alley ahead. The alley ahead wasn't far from us, only twenty or thirty meters away. The monsters around us were all moving slowly, but after seeing us, their pace quickened considerably.

We ran to the entrance of the alley and immediately discovered that it was a dead end!

A large group of monsters were crowded in the alley ahead. At the deepest part of the alley, there seemed to be several people struggling. It was impossible to tell who they were, but their anxious and panicked cries for help could be heard.

I don’t know if Zhong Linxuan is among them.

Holding the machete, I said to Li Qiming, "You go to the left, I'll go to the right."
