Chapter 8 A Narrow Escape

run!

I had no choice but to run!

The monsters behind me swarmed up like locusts. If they really knocked me down, they would probably devour me in an instant!

I dared not imagine the pain. In the corridor ahead, the monster that had been wandering around turned around unsteadily and walked slowly toward me. Its steps were slow because its legs were covered in blood and bits of flesh.

Upon closer inspection, I realized that this monster was actually Zhou Yang!

It is no longer Zhou Yang; its face is distorted, its eyes are unfocused, and its white coat has long been stained with blood.

I ran past it and headed towards the emergency room, with the monsters close behind.

However, when I reached the corner, I immediately stopped in my tracks.

Because the emergency room doors ahead were fully open, all the monsters inside came out! The moment I ran over there, the monsters were attracted by the sound of my footsteps and all ran towards me.

Looking back, I saw that the monsters were already right behind me. Instantly, I broke out in a cold sweat.

Monsters are everywhere!

Is this the end? Am I really going to die this time?!

I don't want to die, I really don't want to die!

I swallowed hard, at a loss for what to do.

Looking around, I tried to find an exit, but there were only corners and no doors around, so where would I find an exit?

Just as I was at a loss, I saw Zhou Yang being pushed to the side by the other monsters, and I immediately noticed a gap of more than 20 centimeters high under the glass of the blood drawing table in the laboratory!

Normally, when patients have their blood drawn, they put their arms through this gap.

Whether a person can squeeze through this gap, I have no idea.

Since things have come to this, we have no choice but to give it a try; otherwise, we're doomed.

I kicked away the monster that lunged at me, and with a push of my foot, I slipped into the gap.

I gripped the blood-drawing table and tried my best to squeeze inside. Just as my upper body was inside, these monsters grabbed my legs!

They showed no mercy and took a bite!

"Ah!" I cried out in pain, turned around, and kicked the monster's head. I kicked it away in one go. With the monster no longer pulling my leg, I used my strength to tumble into the blood-drawing table, and the fall hurt terribly.

Aww—

The monster outside kept roaring and reaching its hand in, trying to grab me.

I sat on the ground, panting, trembling all over, and cold sweat pouring down my forehead.

He rolled up his trouser leg and took a look. Because it was too dark, he couldn't see the condition of his calf. After touching it with his hand, he found no blood or wounds, and then he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Luckily I was wearing thermal underwear, otherwise it would have been terrible if it had been bitten through!" I thought to myself with relief.

Half a minute later, I came to my senses and realized that I had escaped death. I looked around and saw the door leading to the laboratory.

I crawled on the ground to the door, but instead of opening it directly, I pressed my ear against the door to listen for any sounds inside the laboratory before finally opening it.

The laboratory was pitch black. It was already evening, and the already dimly lit laboratory was now completely dark.

You can't see anything at all.

This makes me hesitate; should I go in?

But staying in this room is a dead end. If I can climb in through the blood-drawing window, then those monsters outside will climb in sooner or later!

There is only one path in front of me: go in!

Even if there are monsters in the lab, I'm going in!

And most importantly, there's a break room specifically for doctors in the lab; there should be food there, right?

Pushing open the door and stepping into the pitch-black laboratory, I took out a pen light for examining pupils from my pocket and used a faint beam of light to illuminate the space ahead.

I crawled forward, not daring to stand up or make any noise, for fear of attracting the monster in the laboratory.

The pen light could only illuminate a small part of the space in front of me. I had been to the laboratory before, so I was familiar with the layout. After passing two centrifuges and an analyzer, I saw the door to the lounge across the street.

However, I was stunned the moment I saw the door to the lounge.

Because slivers of light were seeping through the gap at the bottom of the wooden door to the lounge.

"There's someone inside?" I asked in surprise.

"Aww!"

Before I could think, a sudden roar came from behind me, startling me so much that I immediately turned around and saw a monster in a white coat standing behind me.

It bent its knees and pounced.

I hurriedly rolled to the side, and the monster missed its target.

I quickly got up from the ground and ran towards the lounge. When I got to the door, I touched the doorknob, but the door was locked and I couldn't open it!

At that moment, a gasp came from inside the door.

There really are people!

I was overjoyed and kept banging on the door, shouting, "There's someone inside, right? Please, open the door! I'm alive! I haven't been bitten! Please, open the door! I really haven't been bitten!"

The people inside didn't say a word. I kept banging on the door, and the monster behind me had already stood up from the ground and was rushing towards me!

"I won't open the door, go somewhere else." Just then, a girl's voice came from inside.

"Please, I have nowhere else to go, there are zombies everywhere outside! Please, let me in." I was almost going crazy with anxiety. The monster behind me had already rushed up. I kicked it, but it almost grabbed me and made me fall.

I kept knocking on the door, but the girl inside remained unwilling to open it.

"I...I dare not!" the girl said fearfully from inside.

In my panic, I started banging on the door and threatened, "If you don't open the door, I'll break it down and we'll all die together!"

"No, no, no, I'll open it, I'll open it!" The girl seemed to have been pushed to her limit. After I rammed the door twice, she opened it directly, and I fell inside.

Not only that, the monster I kicked away also chased after me in.

"Ah!" the girl screamed in fright.

I lay on the ground, watching the monster break in, and kicked it away with both feet.

Then he quickly got up, slammed the door shut, and locked it.

The girl was so frightened that she hid under the lab table.

"Huff." I leaned against the door, panting heavily, my face covered in cold sweat. The monster outside was banging on the door, but it wasn't very strong and probably wouldn't break it open. But I still leaned against the doorway, just in case.

Two minutes later, the monster that had rammed the door left, and I finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Turning around, he saw the girl hiding under the table and said with a wry smile, "Alright, the monster outside is gone, it's all right now. Thanks for earlier, if it weren't for you, I would be dead."

(Sorry for the late updates today. I was out of town during the day and just got home. I'll update soon.)
