(It's the third update again. I feel like this book has flopped again. I only have a thousand favorites. I'm going crazy.)
I drove home.
Fei Lichao was driving, and I was sitting in the passenger seat, feeling very uneasy.
Actually, I'm very reluctant to go home now because I'm afraid of seeing my parents turn into monsters.
If that were the case, I'm afraid I would break down.
Taking a deep breath to calm my anxious heart, Pu Weichao seemed to sense my worry and said from the back seat, "Don't worry too much."
"Hmm." I nodded slightly, but I still felt a weight on my mind.
How long has it been since you went home?
It's been more than half a year since I last came back. I originally planned to come back during the Chinese New Year because some hospitals give seven days off during that time. But before the New Year even arrived, the world had turned into this horrible mess.
There are still some days until the Chinese New Year.
I couldn't help but wonder, if I went back now, would I find my parents home, perfectly fine, without any problems? Would they be surprised and delighted when I returned?
I couldn't help but start overthinking.
After passing three traffic lights, I saw the residential area ahead and said, "It's the residential area ahead. Turn in and walk about fifty meters, and you'll be there."
"Alright." Fei Lichao turned the steering wheel and entered the residential area.
Because my home is located in the south of Wutong City, and Wutong City is just a small city with a population that cannot be compared with Hangzhou, we did not see many monsters along the way.
Once inside the residential area, there were more monsters, but compared to Hangzhou, they were nothing.
I pointed to an open roller shutter door in front of me, and Fei Lichao drove his car to the doorway.
The monsters around them heard the sound of the car engine and came over.
The three of us watched the situation outside.
Pu Weichao asked, "Are you going up by yourself, or should we go up with you?"
I glanced at the residential building and the monsters that were constantly gathering on the surrounding roads, and said, "I'll go up myself. You two take care of the monsters here."
"You're really shameless, kid," Fei Lichao laughed.
I couldn't be bothered with him and said, "Then I'll go up first."
Pu Weichao nodded and said, "Go ahead, we'll wait for you here. While we're at it, let's clear out those monsters that are coming, so we don't get stuck later."
I left the things downstairs to them and went upstairs alone.
The apartment building has ten floors in total, and my home is on the sixth floor.
Without the elevator, I had no choice but to walk up.
As I walked upstairs, I suddenly remembered something very serious.
I don't have the key!
I'd completely forgotten my house keys at the hospital. If I went upstairs now and the door wasn't open, wouldn't that be awkward?
A moment later, I arrived at the stairwell between the fifth and sixth floors. Looking up, I saw that my door was ajar, and I immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Just as I was about to go up.
I suddenly heard hurried footsteps coming from downstairs.
He subconsciously stopped in his tracks, wondering if Fei Lichao and the other two had come up.
I waited on the stairs, and the footsteps downstairs grew closer and closer. I wondered why these two, who were supposed to be unable to come up, were now coming up again.
Just as I was wondering what was going on, the two people downstairs came up.
When I saw the two people coming up, my expression changed drastically, and I knew in my heart that something was wrong.
Because these two people were not Fei Lichao and Pu Weichao at all, but the crew-cut man and his companion whom we met at the convenience store earlier!
Why are these two here? Are they following us?
"you……"
Before I could speak, the crew-cut man lashed out at me with a stick.
I ducked to avoid it, but the other person took the opportunity to punch me in the nose.
My nose was in excruciating pain, and a warm stream flowed from my nasal cavity. I instinctively touched it and found it was bleeding!
The crew-cut man didn't give me a chance to fight back. He slapped me across the face with a stick, and I felt a sharp pain. I passed out immediately, without even having a chance to call for help.
In a daze, I felt the two of them take me away.
...
When I regained consciousness, I felt that my eyes were covered with a cloth, my mouth was taped, and my hands and feet were tied to a chair, so I couldn't move at all.
At that moment, I heard people talking around me.
"Hey, Lao Zhou, how do I use this walkie-talkie?"
"Are you stupid? Just press here!" Old Zhou pressed the button on the walkie-talkie, and the walkie-talkie immediately emitted a hissing sound.
I heard their voices and realized that the man called Lao Zhou must be the man with the crew cut.
The walkie-talkies they had were given to me by Fei Lichao, so I could contact them directly if I was in danger.
Now they've taken it, and I don't know what these people are going to do with it.
Then I heard Lao Zhou say into the walkie-talkie: "Hello, hello, is anyone there? I'm telling you, we have one of your men in our hands right now. If you don't want him to die, bring me food and a pistol in exchange, otherwise, I'll kill him right now, understand? I'm giving you ten minutes to get to the intersection of Chongde Avenue and Wutong Avenue right now!"
The intersection of Chongde Avenue and Wutong Avenue?
Isn't this place very close to my home? I was surprised. If Fei Lichao heard this news, he would probably come to find me very soon.
"Wait a minute, Lao Zhou, are you sure they can hear us? What if they can't?" the person next to him asked.
"If they can't hear me, they can't hear me. Anyway, I left them a note, they should be able to see it."
