Chapter 93 Kidnapping

"Old Zhou, that kid seems to have woken up," someone said.

Old Zhou's footsteps approached, and he ripped off the blindfold covering my eyes. The dazzling light immediately filled my vision, making me feel uncomfortable. After a moment, I was able to see the crew-cut man in front of me clearly.

Old Zhou sneered: "You're awake."

I glanced around and found that there were only three people here, one less than before.

Old Zhou pinched my face, ripped off the tape from my mouth, shoved the walkie-talkie in front of my face, and asked, "Kid, I'm asking you, is this thing of yours even working? It's been over twenty minutes and your people still haven't arrived?"

I stared at the walkie-talkie and said, "It's no use."

Snap!

Old Zhou slapped me across the face and yelled, "Bullshit! What's the point of carrying it around if it's useless? Is it for fun?"

I didn't say anything more.

Old Zhou stared at me and said, "Kid, let me tell you, if your men don't come, you're not going to make it out alive, you understand? So I advise you to obediently let them exchange you for guns and food, otherwise, I'll just kill you, you know!"

"You really want our guns that badly?" I changed the subject to buy time.

He wondered if Fei Lichao and the others hadn't heard the walkie-talkie or if they simply didn't know the way. Twenty minutes had passed, and they still hadn't arrived!

Old Zhou said, "Of course, I don't know what kind of luck you guys had to get a gun."

I said, "If, if we really give you the gun, will you really let me go?"

Old Zhou laughed and said, "I'm not such a dishonest person. I'll leave things for you. If we run into each other again in the future, I might even have to thank you. Don't you think so?"

I swallowed hard and said, "Can I tell you the truth?"

Old Zhou looked down at me and asked, "What do you want to say?"

I said, "Even if we give you the gun, you probably won't have a chance to use it."

Old Zhou frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Literally, we let you go once before because we didn't want to kill innocent people indiscriminately. After all, everyone is just trying to make a living, and there's no need to kill everyone just for a little food. Don't you think so?"

"Are you threatening me?" Old Zhou glared at him.

“I’m not threatening you, I’m just telling you the truth. My two companions, the one who had the gun earlier, is a soldier. His methods are beyond your imagination. I’m giving you a piece of advice now: release me immediately. If they come, I’m afraid none of the three of you will survive.”

Old Zhou laughed when he heard this. "Who are you trying to fool? As long as you're in our hands, do you really think they'd dare to kill us? If they really dared to kill people, wouldn't they have killed us long ago?"

I chuckled and said, "Do you think I'm important to them? I'm just the most useless one among them; whether I live or die makes absolutely no difference to them. Otherwise, why have you been waiting for twenty minutes and they still haven't arrived?"

Old Zhou's expression changed slightly, and I knew that he actually believed some of my nonsense.

The two people standing to the side seemed a little intimidated.

"Old Zhou, what he said doesn't seem like a lie. Why don't we let him go?"

"Release him?! We went to great lengths to bring him here. What if he brings his men to cause trouble for us if we release him? Do you really believe his nonsense?!" Old Zhou roared.

"Old Zhou, right? I advise you to listen to him..."

Snap!

Before I could finish speaking, Old Zhou slapped me hard across the face; it stung and burned. I clenched my fists, really wanting to kill this bastard.

"Kid, let me tell you, if I don't get my hands on a gun today, you're dead!"

Not long after Lao Zhou finished speaking, the sound of a car engine suddenly came from outside the gate.

The other two looked out the door and said, "Old Zhou, someone's here. It's the same two from before."

"Did they have guns?" Old Zhou asked, picking up a machete from the side.

"Take it," the other person said.

"Take it." Old Zhou smiled, holding the machete to my neck. The machete in his hand was still mine.

I sat on the stool, and Lao Zhou taped my mouth shut again, so I couldn't see what was happening outside.

At that moment, I saw the other two people open the door.

I was sitting right in front of the door, so Fei Lichao and Pu Weichao could see me from outside.

The two of them didn't rush in.

Old Zhou called out to the outside, "I've been waiting for you for a long time, come in."

Pu Weichao said from outside, "Hey, friend, isn't what you're doing a bit inappropriate?"

“Why is it inappropriate? You stole our things before, and now I’m asking you to exchange them for this person, is that not allowed?” Old Zhou said.

Pu Weichao followed his lead and said, "Sure, why not? All you want is a gun and food, right? I have a gun right now. If you release my brother, I'll give you the gun. What do you say?"

Old Zhou stared at the gun and said, "Give me the gun first, I want to see if it's real or fake."

Pu Weichao shook his head and said, "Hey, that won't do. This gun is loaded with bullets. What if you take it and kill my brother? Who will we complain to then?"

“But what if I release you brothers and you kill us?” Old Zhou retorted.

Pu Weichao laughed and said, "Friend, that's not very interesting. Since we're doing business together, how about we make an exchange? You bring my brother out, we'll go outside, and I'll give you the gun in one hand and the man in the other, how about that?"
