Chapter 251 Speculation

(I estimate there will only be two updates today. I haven't been feeling well these past few days, and I've had a headache all day. Once the headache subsides, I'll give you more. Anyway, I guarantee at least two updates of 6,000 words every day.)

In the blink of an eye, it's already early June.

We've been cooperating with Jiangbei for almost half a month now.

During this period, Jiangbei would send several patients every one or two days. Some had minor colds and fevers that could be cured with some medicine, while others required special care and attention. As a result, the school has now become like a hospital.

Currently, there are many patients resting in the dormitory rooms on the first floor. Jiangbei has also sent people over to help me take care of them.

These days keep me so busy that I sometimes can't even rest at night.

This reminds me of my internship days at the hospital, where I basically had no time for myself and was exhausted like a dog all day long.

I never expected it to turn out like this.

...

Today is June 1st, Children's Day.

It was drizzling outside, and the sky was incredibly gloomy.

There are three patients on the first floor who need to be observed for another day or two. After all, their wounds are quite large, and I need to prevent them from getting infected. Their dressings were just changed, and those three are resting now.

I stood on the rooftop with an umbrella, clearing my mind of everything, giving myself a break.

After standing there for about five minutes, Sister Jing came to the rooftop and found me.

"I was just looking for you, and I knew you'd be here." Sister Jing came to my side, crossed the light rain, and ran under the umbrella.

I asked, "What's wrong? Is something wrong with those three patients downstairs?"

Sister Jing said, "I didn't want to talk to you about this. Fei Lichao discussed it with me before, saying he wanted to clean up the university in front of us. I don't really agree with that, so I wanted to ask for your opinion."

I turned to look at Sister Jing and asked, puzzled, "Clean up the university in front? Why?"

Jingjie said, "The main reason is that we don't want to suffer losses. You understand our current situation; we can't afford any more setbacks. Although we've cooperated with Jiangbei, and they will protect us to some extent, it's still too passive. So Fei Lichao wants to clear out the schools in front of us so they can be used as our secret base or something."

I stared at the university located south of my high school; the two schools were separated only by a road.

"A secret base? Isn't this a bit too close?"

Jingjie shrugged. "Fei Lichao means that the more dangerous the place, the safer it is. We set up our secret base in front, so if we get into trouble in the future, we can just run there and hide. Who would have thought of that?"

I gave a wry smile, but inwardly I agreed with Fei Lichao's idea. Indeed, setting up the secret base in the school ahead would be unexpected, and no one would think of it.

I said, "It's possible, but there are too many zombies at the university ahead. How can just a few of us manage? Besides, since it's a secret base, we have to operate in secrecy and can't let the people of Jiangbei know."

Jingjie said, "So, I told him that the plan for this secret base is simply not feasible at this stage. And do you know what he said to me?"

"What did they say?" I was curious.

Sister Jing sighed, "He said he would handle this matter by himself. Isn't that being willful? Even if he's capable, he shouldn't risk his life."

Indeed, there were too many university zombies ahead. No matter how powerful Fei Lichao was, if he were surrounded by zombies, he would only face certain death.

"And then, Sister Jing, what did you say?"

Sister Jing said irritably, "What else can I say? Of course, I'll reject him! I can't let him go crazy."

I nodded and said, "We really can't let him go crazy. We need to think this through carefully."

Sister Jing nodded, "Yes, we must consider this carefully, and we absolutely cannot let the people of Jiangbei know about this."

I stared at the university in front of me and thought about it carefully. What Fei Lichao said could indeed be done, but the process had to be kept secret. Okay, but how should we keep it secret?

I frowned, and a general idea formed in my mind.

"Perhaps, there is a way."

"What do you mean?" Sister Jing asked curiously.

I looked down at Cui Xiaofei, who was walking back from the playground downstairs, and said, "It's been almost a month since we came back from Wutong City. I estimate that Du Xu will be here soon. Maybe we can ask them for help."

Sister Jing asked, "The key question is, are they willing?"

I shook my head. "I don't know. We'll have to wait until they arrive. If they're willing, that's great; if not, we'll discuss it further."

Sister Jing said, "Okay, then let's do it your way."

Just as Jingjie and I were discussing it, a dusty car drove in from the school gate and hurriedly stopped in front of the dormitory.

I stared at the car and said, "A patient has arrived. Let's get out."

Sister Jing looked down and saw that a patient had indeed come over.

When we got downstairs, we found that the people who came were a mother and daughter.

The daughter was carried out unconscious, while her mother cried anxiously beside her.

"Brother Lu, she's dying!" Zhang Zhihao carried the girl directly to the conference room.

My brow furrowed, and I was about to go over when my mother grabbed me, pleading, "Doctor, I beg you, please save my daughter, please..."

"I will do my best."

I glanced at Sister Jing, who helped me hold my mother's hand, and I immediately went into the meeting room.
