Chapter 539 Zhou Liang found out
Back at the research institute, when Sister Jing saw me, she asked in surprise, "Why are you back again?"
Having just returned, I said helplessly, "Something happened in the central town. Don't come near me. I'm afraid I might get infected too."
"Contagious? What kind of contagiousness?" Sister Jing asked worriedly.
Sister Jing wanted to come over, but I backed away as soon as she did.
I said, "There's been a bird flu outbreak in Central Town. I've been in contact with patients, so Sister Jing, it's best if you don't come near me. Go inside and bring Zhang Jianzhou out. I came back here specifically to see him."
Jing nodded and didn't go any closer. Before going in, she asked worriedly, "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. If something had happened, I wouldn't have been able to come."
A few minutes later, Zhang Jianzhou was brought out from inside by Sister Jing.
This guy has been eating and living well here these days, and he looks like he's gained weight.
I approached him and said, "There's been an outbreak of bird flu in the central town. Do you have any ideas on how to deal with it?"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Jianzhou decisively took a few steps back, then frowned and stared at me, asking, "Are you infected?"
"I don't know, that's why I came to ask you if there's any way to resolve this?"
Zhang Jianzhou frowned. "Didn't you learn this before? Avian flu can be treated with antiviral drugs, but it depends on the situation. If it's a new virus, there's basically no way to save it without a specific drug."
Antiviral drugs?
I gave it to that unconscious guy before, but it didn't work at all.
Zhang Jianzhou said, "Don't tell me you came here to ask me to go back and resolve this matter?"
I said, "Yes."
Zhang Jianzhou sneered, "I'm not going. Who knows what the situation is like over there? Judging from your expression, someone must have died in the central town. Since someone died, there's no way to save them. If I go back in this situation, I'll be dead if I get infected. Also, stay away from me. I don't want to get infected by you!"
I stared at Zhang Jianzhou, that cowardly bastard, and after thinking carefully, I asked Sister Jing, "How much antiviral medicine is left here?"
Sister Jing said, "There are still quite a few."
“Give me a third of it, and I’ll take it back and see,” I said.
"Oh, okay, I'll go get it for you right away." Sister Jing said as she ran back.
Zhang Jianzhou stood in front of me and said, "Lu Xiaonan, I never expected you would help people in Central Town treat illnesses. I'm really impressed with you."
I laughed and said, "Don't be so smug. If I get infected and die after I go back, you won't survive either. So you should pray that I don't die, otherwise we'll be traveling together to the underworld."
Zhang Jianzhou's expression changed.
I chuckled softly.
Not long after, Sister Jing came out of the research institute with the medicine. After I took the medicine, I got back into the car and left.
This involves two trips, one to the other.
I arrived in the central town on the morning of the second day. I slept for a night on the way, otherwise driving all day would have exhausted me.
When I arrived at the central town, Zhang Lincai asked me, "Why are you only coming back now?"
I rolled my eyes and said, "It's so far, why don't you go and try?"
When Zhang Lincai saw that I was the only one who had returned, he asked, "Where's Dr. Zhang? Didn't he come back with you?"
I said, "I told him about bird flu, but he absolutely refused to come back, saying he was afraid of getting infected."
Zhang Lin frowned. "This bastard, I didn't expect him to be so afraid of death."
I sneered inwardly, but said aloud, "Alright, alright, stop with the nonsense. Are those three alright? How are they now?"
Zhang Lincai said, "They're still the same as before, with a high fever and a cough, looking like they have a cold. We've already given them fever reducers, but it hasn't helped at all."
I took the medicine out of the car and said, "Let them take these medicines first."
"What kind of medicine is this?" Zhang Lincai asked, looking at the medicine in my hand.
I said, "This is an antiviral drug. If it's just ordinary bird flu, taking this medicine should basically solve all the problems."
"Okay, I'll go right away."
...
I originally planned to go with Zhang Lincai, but halfway there Zhou Liang stopped me, pulled me aside, and asked me directly, "Did you go back again yesterday?"
"yes."
Zhou Liang asked, "What are you going back for this time?"
I said, "Get the medicine."
"Why are you taking the medicine? Aren't there medicines in the central town?"
I said, "Yes, there are quite a few medicines in the central town, but the antiviral drugs have all expired, so I'm going back to get some."
Zhou Liang asked in confusion, "Antibacterial drugs? What are you doing bringing those over here?"
I wanted to ask him if he didn't know about bird flu, but after thinking about it carefully, I suddenly remembered that I had asked Zhang Lincai to keep this a secret, so basically no one in the central town knew that someone had contracted bird flu.
So I hesitated a bit about whether to tell Zhou Liang.
Given Zhou Liang's personality, once he finds out about this, the matter certainly won't end so easily.
But if I don't tell him, I'm afraid he'll keep asking me questions until he gets to the bottom of it.
This is really troublesome.
I said, "Come with me and you'll see."
As I spoke, I led Zhou Liang to follow Zhang Lincai, who was getting the medicine, and we arrived at a room in a corner of the central town. There was practically no one there, and the room had been completely isolated at Zhang Lincai's order.
I put on a mask, pushed open the door, and saw what was inside.
The three people inside were lying on the bed. When they saw us, they all raised their heads and looked at us. Their faces were pale as if they had been bewitched, and they kept coughing. It was obvious that they were seriously ill.
Zhang Lin didn't go in himself; instead, he had someone else bring in the medicine he was carrying.
I said to Zhou Liang, "See? I brought the medicine here to treat people's illnesses."
Zhou Liang looked puzzled, covered his mouth and nose with his hand, glanced at me, then pulled me outside. After we took a breath of fresh air, he asked, "What's wrong with the three people inside? It doesn't look like a common illness!"
I said, "It could be bird flu."
"Bird flu! Isn't that very serious? Will people die?" Zhou Liang asked.
I nodded and said, "There's a possibility of death, it depends on their condition. If they've taken the medicine, and it's just ordinary bird flu, they should recover."
Zhou Liang nodded. "What if it isn't?"
"Waiting to die."
Zhou Liang frowned, but his face showed no sadness or regret for them.
I saw his eyes darting around, and I wondered what he was thinking. Could it be that he had another idea?
