(The second update is here, please read it slowly.)
Pu Weichao stopped his car by the roadside and stared curiously at the living person.
I was also very curious to actually encounter a living person here.
Moreover, the living person is in very bad condition. He is lying on the sidewalk at the intersection, crawling further and further away. His foot seems to be injured, and he cannot stand up.
The two monsters behind him roared and followed him. If he hadn't climbed fast, he probably would have been bitten to death by the monsters long ago.
Pu Weichao picked up a machete and got out of the car, and I followed him out of the car.
"Should we go over and lend a hand?" I asked.
"Let's wait and see, and then we'll talk when that idiot finds out."
Pu Weichao wasn't in a hurry at all, and neither was I.
It's not that we don't want to help, it's just that the time isn't right yet. If we went to help now, we could indeed save their life, but we're not saints, so why should we save someone we have nothing to do with?
As we were talking, the guy had already climbed over the sidewalk and onto the curb.
He turned around, glanced at us, and saw the two of us on the other side of the road. Just then, the two monsters behind him pounced on him without a word, trying to bite him.
He rolled twice on the ground and shouted to us, "Help! Please, help me!"
"Alright, let's save him." Pu Weichao decisively pulled out his gun and fired two shots at the two monsters behind the guy.
One shot was accurate, blowing the monster's head off, while the other was less accurate, only piercing the monster's cheek, causing it to sway but not fall down.
“There’s one more, you can come.” Pu Weichao rolled his eyes and said.
I laughed, raised my gun, aimed at the monster's head, and fired. The monster fell to the ground, dead.
The guy lying on the ground stared at the two of us with a look of terror in his eyes, seemingly lost in thought.
I saw Pu Weichao get into the car, so I walked across the street, squatted down, faced the stranger, and asked, "Is this okay?"
The guy nodded blankly, then shook his head and said, "I... I twisted my ankle."
I stared at his feet and noticed that they were twisted outwards at a full ninety degrees. I chuckled and said, "I can fix your feet, but it will hurt a lot. I'll count to three, and you'll have to bear it."
He nodded.
"one."
Click!
I counted to one, and with a push, his foot returned to its normal position.
The guy was pale, staring at me with resentful eyes, and said through gritted teeth, "Didn't you say we were going to count to three?"
"Two, three," I said, smiling as I counted to three.
"..." This guy was speechless.
Pu Weichao drove over, rolled down the window, looked at the two of us, and said, "Get in."
I helped the guy up and asked, "What's your name?"
With a troubled expression and still limping, the man said, "Zhou Liang."
I told him to get in the car first, and then asked, "What did you do before?"
He got into the passenger seat and said, "I'm a student at Jiajiang College, and I was supposed to graduate this year..."
As he spoke, it seemed his ankle was in so much pain that he could barely speak.
I squeezed into the back seat, and Pu Weichao, who was driving, continued to ask, "And then? How did you survive?"
Zhou Liang paused for a moment, then said in a familiar tone, "I was lucky, otherwise how could I have survived? By the way, thank you for saving me earlier. I still don't know your names."
"Pu Weichao," Pu Weichao said, "His name is Lu Xiaonan. When the zombie outbreak first occurred, no one was with you?"
Zhou Liang said, "Yes, I was with my girlfriend, but then she got bitten, and I couldn't save her. After she died, I left."
I frowned and stared at Zhou Liang's profile. His girlfriend was dead, so why was there no sadness in his voice?
Pu Weichao seemed to have noticed this as well, and asked, "Your girlfriend died, aren't you sad?"
Zhou Liang shook his head and said with a bitter smile, "I'm heartbroken, of course I'm heartbroken, but what's the use of being heartbroken? She's already dead. I can't just die with her, can I? I still want to go home and find my parents."
Pu Weichao smiled and said, "You're quite open-minded."
Zhou Liang said, "It's not that I'm optimistic, it's just that the world is already like this, and it's impossible to go back to the way it was before. Since that's the case, it's easier to survive if we accept it sooner. Don't you think so?"
I suddenly realized that Zhou Liang was quite eloquent.
We weren't far from the school, so we chatted casually for a bit, and then we took Zhou Liang back to the school.
Zhang Zhihao opened the door for us, and we went inside together.
Zhou Liang looked at the school in surprise, "You live here!"
"Is there a problem?" Pu Weichao asked.
Zhou Liang shook his head: "No, no, no, I just think you guys are amazing. I've been here before, but when I came here before, I saw that there were a lot of zombies in this place. How did you manage to clean up the whole school?"
Pu Weichao parked the car downstairs in front of the dormitory building, turned off the engine, turned around and stared at Zhou Liang, a cold smile appearing on his lips: "Kid, don't ask questions you shouldn't ask. We only brought you back because we pitied you, whether you'll stay or not is still up in the air. So, be good and don't ask any more questions."
Zhou Liang nodded blankly.
We got out of the car, and Zhou Liang limped to a step to sit down.
We moved our things into the dormitory building.
Zhou Liang wanted to help, but because of his foot injury, we didn't let him get involved.
After emptying the police car, Pu Weichao called Zhang Zhihao and went out again to the supermarket. There was still half a supermarket empty, and they decided to go and retrieve everything while it was still early.
