Chapter 325 Wholesale Market

After I told Du Xu my guess, Wang Xintong behind me exclaimed in surprise.

We both quickly turned around. Wang Xintong took two steps back towards us and pointed to the entrance of the convenience store, saying, "There are zombies!"

I looked towards the entrance of the convenience store and saw that the woman who had been unconscious inside had woken up and was now staggering out of the store. She seemed to be quite conscious, and she was holding the note I had left for her and some water in her hand.

"That's not a zombie, that's a living person."

I said something and quickly ran over to the woman's side.

When the woman saw me, she took two steps back warily and leaned against the door, seemingly very frightened.

Du Xu and Wang Xintong also came over.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

The woman seemed afraid to speak to me; her eyes were filled with fear. I wondered what she had been through to be so afraid of me, a living person.

"Don't come any closer!" the woman said hurriedly.

I nodded and said, "Okay, okay, I won't go over. I just wanted to ask if you're alright. I was the one who knocked you unconscious."

The woman clutched the wound on her head, her face contorted in pain, unable to utter a single word.

I said, "Your condition is still unstable. You hit your head on the ground earlier, so you probably still have a concussion. I'm a doctor, so you'd better sit down first and not push yourself, otherwise you'll definitely faint again."

The woman seemed to sense something was wrong with her head, so she sat down on the ground, leaning against the door frame, her brows furrowed, clearly in a headache.

Seeing that she had relaxed her guard, I said, "My name is Lu Xiaonan. I have no ill intentions towards you. I just accidentally knocked you unconscious. To prevent you from getting hurt, I tied you up in the car. I hope you don't mind."

The woman looked at me, still seemingly unwilling to speak.

I sighed and said, "Then you can rest here for now. If you need anything, just call us. We'll be right here."

The woman didn't reply, and I didn't know what to say to her.

I took a few steps back, then turned around and went back to the car. Du Xu ignored the strange woman, but Wang Xintong stood in front of her, seemingly looking at something.

"Xintong, come here," I called out.

But Wang Xintong didn't move. She kept staring at the strange woman, and it was unclear what she was looking at.

I was a little confused, so I called out again, but Wang Xintong still didn't respond.

"Ah!" Wang Xintong suddenly exclaimed in surprise, pointing at the woman sitting on the ground and saying in astonishment, "You are, you are... Teacher Li!"

Du Xu and I were both taken aback when we heard Wang Xintong's words.

Upon hearing this, the woman sitting on the ground looked strange on her dirty face and looked at Wang Xintong with a puzzled expression.

I returned to Wang Xintong's side and asked, "Xintong, do you know her?"

Wang Xintong looked at me and nodded, saying, "Yes, I know her! She was my music teacher in elementary school! Her surname was Li, but I've forgotten her given name."

I nodded and looked at the unfamiliar woman.

Wang Xintong took two steps forward and asked, "Teacher Li, do you still recognize me? I'm Wang Xintong. I used to be the music class representative."

The stranger looked at Wang Xintong with a slightly blank expression, but upon hearing Wang Xintong's name, her previously confused eyes instantly cleared, and she opened her mouth, looking at Wang Xintong in surprise, and exclaimed, "You are... Xiaotong!"

"Yes, I'm Xiaotong," Wang Xintong said happily.

I was a little surprised; I didn't expect them to actually recognize me. But since they could recognize me, that's convenient; there's no need to be on guard.

Wang Xintong quickly went to the stranger's side, helped her up from the ground, and said, "Teacher Li, don't sit on the ground, go lie down in the car. Brother Lu said you still have a concussion."

The strange woman completely lowered her guard when she saw Wang Xintong. She glanced at me and Du Xu, then followed Wang Xintong to the car.

A little while later, Wang Xintong came out and asked me, "Brother Lu, is Teacher Li alright?"

I shook my head and said, "Don't worry, it's fine."

Wang Xintong breathed a sigh of relief, "It's good that you're alright."

Du Xu said, "Lu Xiaonan, why don't we go back first? We won't get any results here, and Chu Yu is still sleeping and doesn't want to come out. Let's think about it slowly when we get back. It's not worth wasting time here."

I sighed, glanced at the Southeast District that had already fallen in the distance, and nodded, saying, "Alright, let's go back first. We won't get any news here."

We got back into the car and drove straight back to school.

On the way back, I kept worrying about Fei Lichao and Sister Jing.

I never expected things to turn out this way. What exactly happened to the Southeast Community? Why was it wiped out overnight?

Obviously, this couldn't have been done by Biyuan. If it wasn't Biyuan, then who was it? Could it be that there are other teams in Jiajiang that possess firearms and ammunition?

I shook off the thoughts in my head. Now was not the time to think about this. I should go back and deal with it later.

Forty minutes later, we returned to school.

Wang Xintong went to take care of her teacher.

As for Du Xu and me, we each went back to our dorm rooms.

...

Around 5 p.m., I was getting a little restless in my dorm room, so I went up to the rooftop to get some fresh air.

Looking at the school in front of me, and the people Du Xu had there, I suddenly realized something terrifying.

It seems... I'm the only one left in this school! People I used to know are either dead or have disappeared. There used to be Fei Lichao and Sister Jing, but now even they've vanished!

"Am I all alone...?"

A sudden panic gripped me, and I didn't know what to do. All the people who used to be around were gone. What was the point of me staying at school alone? Before, it was all about striving for a future, wanting a stable environment for us. But now I'm all alone, and it seems like it doesn't matter how I live anymore.

I gave a wry smile.

How could it have suddenly turned out like this?

Just as I was panicking, Wang Xintong suddenly ran up to the rooftop and shouted, "Brother Lu, come quick! Teacher Li needs to talk to you!"

I snapped out of my daze, frowned slightly, and asked, "What's wrong? What happened?"

Wang Xintong said, "No, Teacher Li is fine, but she said she knows some things about the Southeast Community, so she asked me to come and get you."

Hearing this, I was immediately surprised. "She knows about what happened in the Southeast Residential Area? How could she know?!"

Wang Xintong shook her head and said, "I don't know either, but Teacher Li told me to come and call you."

"Okay, let's go, take me there quickly."
