Chapter 5 Zhou Yang is dead

"Ah! It hurts!" Zhou Yang cried out in pain as he lay on the bed, unable to bear the pain in his legs.

"Xiao Lu, shut him up, or all those monsters outside will be attracted here!" A doctor whispered to me. I knew him; his surname was Liu, and his name was Liu Neng.

I glanced around, grabbed a corner of the blanket from the hospital bed, and stuffed it into Zhou Yang's mouth.

He gripped my arm tightly, biting the blanket, making whimpering noises. The injuries on his legs were really painful for him.

Bang!

Suddenly, the door to the ward was slammed shut by the monster outside, making a loud noise that frightened everyone present into immobility.

I held my breath, staring into Zhou Yang's pained eyes, and my heart ached too.

If it weren't for that bastard Zhang Jianzhou, Zhou Yang wouldn't have been bitten!

Soon after, there was no more movement outside the door; the monster must have left.

The attending physician, Liu Neng, turned around and glanced at Zhou Yang's condition. He then asked me in a low voice, "Was he bitten like this by those monsters?"

I nodded and asked, "Dr. Liu, is it possible to save him?"

Liu Neng frowned and shook his head, saying, "I can't save him. He won't live much longer in his current condition. The virus has already invaded his body. Look at his neck, black blood vessels have appeared. It won't be long before he turns into one of those monsters outside."

"But, but..." I wanted to plead for them, but the people in the ward didn't dare to come near.

Liu Neng said, "Xiao Lu, I advise you to put him outside. Otherwise, he'll turn into a monster here, and we'll all be in trouble."

“Yeah, Lu Xiaonan, don’t worry about Zhou Yang anymore, he’s beyond saving.” Shen Lin chimed in, echoing Liu Neng. He was an intern here, just like me.

Looking at Zhou Yang's pained and contorted expression, I knew he was beyond saving, but I didn't want him to die!

Tears welled up in my eyes.

At this moment, Zhou Yang ripped the blanket out of his mouth, gritted his teeth to suppress the pain, and reached out to grab my collar. His bloodshot eyes stared at me as he said, "Xiao Nan, I...I don't want to die! I really...don't want to die! Xiao Xiao, Xiao Xiao is still...still waiting for me, I have to go find her...I have to go find her..."

“Zhou Yang…” I choked up and couldn’t speak, tears streaming down my face.

"Xiaonan... save me... I really... don't want to die... save me..."

"I'm sorry, Zhou Yang, I'm so sorry, so sorry, so sorry..."

Gradually, I noticed that he loosened his grip on my collar, and soon after, the black veins on his neck began to spread to his cheeks.

"Uh...uh..." He could no longer make a sound. After his body twitched twice, his hand fell down, and I saw that his pupils had dilated.

Zhou Yang is dead.

I knelt by the bed, tears streaming down my face.

At this moment, Liu Neng came over and said, "Xiao Shen, come and help! Zhou Yang is dead. Come and throw him out. We can't let him turn into a monster here, or we'll all be in trouble!"

Shen Lin was initially a little scared, but he still came up and lifted Zhou Yang's body. After opening the door and checking that there were no monsters outside, the two of them threw Zhou Yang out.

I watched them throw Zhou Yang out without stopping them.

I leaned against the corner of the ward wall, wiped away my tears, and saw Zhang Jianzhou standing opposite the hospital bed.

Just now in the emergency room, if it weren't for him, Zhou Yang might still be alive!

The thought of this fills me with rage.

Clenching his fist, he sprang up and rushed over, kicking him. Caught off guard, the man fell to the ground and screamed in pain.

"Xiao Lu, what are you doing!" Liu saw this and immediately came up and hugged me, while Shen Lin also pulled me away from him.

"Zhang Jianzhou, I'll fucking get you!" I cursed, trying to break free from the two of them and rush at them.

But Liu Neng and the others held me so tightly that I had no chance to break free. All I could do was curse:

"Why?! Zhou Yang saved you before, why did you hurt him?! If it weren't for you, Zhou Yang would still be alive..."

Snap!

Before I could finish cursing, Liu Neng slapped me.

"What are you shouting for? Do you want to attract the monsters outside?" Liu Neng whispered angrily in my ear.

"Aww!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a low growl came from outside the door.

Everyone present knew without a doubt that the sounds were coming from the monsters outside.

"Shh!" Liu Neng, who was holding me, immediately covered my mouth, signaling others not to make a sound.

The monster roared twice outside and even banged on the door twice, but it didn't stay at the door for long. After a while, it left, and the roaring sound gradually faded into the distance.

At this moment, Liu Neng released my mouth, stared into my eyes, and whispered, "Don't be impulsive anymore, okay? Otherwise, if those monsters outside hear us, we'll all die!"

I nodded, and recalling the situation in the emergency room, I was filled with fear and remained silent. But the moment I saw Zhang Jianzhou, I was filled with rage.

Liu Neng and Shen Lin released me. I took two steps back, leaned against the wall, closed my eyes, and slowly calmed down.

I glanced into the ward and noticed that there was another nurse in the corner.

After glancing through the window in the door to make sure there were no monsters outside, Liu Neng asked, "I forgot to ask you earlier, were either of you bitten?"

Zhang Jianzhou rubbed his sore knee and said, "Don't worry, I wasn't bitten."
