He turned around quickly and rushed towards the table with many items on it.
In the blink of an eye, without a word, he quickly began to pack up the things on the table. He mercilessly packed all the visible objects, whether they were books, papers, pens, inkstones, and other stationery into the large cloth bag he carried with him.
Not only that, even the small boxes and some private letters hidden deep in the drawer could not escape his "clutches" and were also stuffed into the cloth bag. The whole process was smooth and flowing, without any hesitation or pause.
They came to another cave entrance inside the cave and said, "Comrade Jiang, are you familiar with this place?"
Jiang Daya said, "I'm not familiar with it, and those people don't come here."
Zhao Lihan said, "Then you, wait here for me, I'll go in and take a look."
Zhao Lihan walked to the cave entrance alone, feeling a little uneasy. He took a deep breath, gathered himself, and then pulled out a flashlight from his backpack, carefully shining it around.
When the light swept across the tightly closed door, a horrifying scene appeared before his eyes—a hideous skull was painted on the door!
The skull seemed to be staring at Zhao Lihan fiercely. He swallowed hard, suppressed his fear, took out a master key from his pocket, and inserted it into the keyhole with trembling hands. With a light "click", the door was unlocked smoothly.
Zhao Lihan gently pushed open the door, and a cold, damp air blew in his face, mixed with bursts of unpleasant stench. This smell was like an invisible hand, tightly gripping his throat, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
He couldn't help but shiver, but when he thought of the mission he was shouldering, he gritted his teeth and stepped into the cave.
Just a few steps closer, the surrounding darkness surged in like a tide, completely engulfing him. Zhao Lihan could only rely on the weak light of his flashlight to grope forward. The ground beneath his feet was uneven, and gravel occasionally tripped him. The faint sound of dripping water and strange noises in his ears was creepy.
As he was walking, Zhao Lihan suddenly noticed a large pile of black objects not far ahead, blocking his way out. He nervously raised his flashlight to shine over them. When he saw what they were, he couldn't help but gasp and almost collapsed on the ground in fear.
The pile before him turned out to be enormous wooden boxes. They were stacked layer upon layer, forming solid, towering walls. Shockingly, the boxes practically filled the entire cave, seemingly endless.
What's even more creepy is that the surface of each box is painted with a hideous skull pattern. The empty eye sockets, exposed teeth and sinister smile all exude an aura of death and danger.
Zhao Lihan cautiously approached one of the wooden boxes, a sharp dagger tightly grasped in his hand. He took a deep breath, then forcefully inserted the dagger into the crack of the box's lid and pried it open. With a creaking sound, the lid slowly opened.
When he took a closer look at the contents of the box, his eyes instantly widened to the size of bells, his face filled with disbelief. Then, he couldn't help but lower his voice and exclaimed, "Oh my God!"
The box was filled with explosives and detonators, not just other items. The explosives were packed tightly together, like a group of beasts ready to attack.
If such a large amount of explosives were detonated at the same time, the power would be enough to completely raze the entire mountain to the ground, and even destroy everything around it.
The enemy's intentions are obvious. If they can't get something, they would rather destroy it than leave it to others.
Zhao Lihan looked at these dazzling weapons with anger rushing to his forehead. He clenched his fists, with only one firm thought in his mind, which was to protect the country's wealth and never let the enemy's conspiracy succeed.
Thinking of this, Zhao Lihan felt that there was no time to lose. He had to immediately report the emergency situation to his superiors in detail and truthfully. Time was as tight as a burning fuse; every second that passed could lead to irreparable losses.
But right now, the only radio that can communicate with the outside world is still in the hands of the squad leader.
I was separated from my comrades during the parachute jump. I still don’t know where they are or whether they have reached the rendezvous point. I don’t know any of this.
He couldn't leave this cave. He had to stay here, but how could he spread the news? He suddenly thought of someone, but he hesitated. Time was running out, and he couldn't afford to waste time here.
So, he locked the door and hurried out of the cave...
After a while, he came to the place where he and Daya had agreed to meet and said, "Comrade Jiang, let's go outside first. I have something to talk to you about."
After hearing what he said, Jiang Daya felt a little uneasy. She didn't know what Zhao Lihan meant, but she still followed Zhao Lihan closely.
They walked out of the deep and dark cave carefully. The outside of the cave was still shrouded in thick night, as if an endless black curtain covered the entire world.
The surroundings were so quiet that it felt somewhat oppressive, with only the occasional strange and sharp bird calls from afar piercing the deathly silence, sounding particularly creepy. However, for the two people at this moment, such a scene was nothing compared to the horror in the cave.
Zhao Lihan raised his hand and glanced at the luminous watch on his wrist in the faint moonlight. The hands moved slowly, indicating that it was still a full five hours until dawn.
Zhao Lihan pondered his thoughts for a moment before slowly speaking, "Comrade Jiang, are you familiar enough with the terrain in this area?"
Jiang Daya said, "I am a little familiar with it."
Zhao Lihan asked again: "Are you afraid of walking alone at night?"
He said to Daya, "What's there to be afraid of? When they were asleep, I often went out alone to find my way home. If I hadn't been thinking about my parents and my brother, I would have run away long ago."
Zhao Lihan listened to Daya's words and said, "Can you help me do something?"
Jiang Daya hesitated and did not answer in time.
Zhao Lihan looked at Jiang Daya and saw that she didn't answer, knowing that she had some concerns in her heart.
