"Sister-in-law, you're back!" As he said this, he pursed his lips towards the factory, as if he wanted to say something, but he stopped himself.
Wang Xiaolan followed his gaze and saw a group of people gathered at the factory gate, looking very excited. She couldn't help but ask in confusion, "Captain Xiao, there's a commotion at the factory, why didn't you call the police? Why are you still here?"
Captain Xiao looked embarrassed, as if he had something to say but couldn't express it, and he gave a helpless look. Only then did Wang Xiaolan realize that Captain Xiao was being held hostage by two tall men behind him.
The two men stared at her fiercely, their eyes revealing a fierce and threatening look. One of the men even showed the dagger in his hand, the sharp blade flashing with a cold light, as if to warn Wang Xiaolan that if she dared to act rashly, he would not treat her politely.
Captain Xiao spread his hands and shook his head helplessly.
Wang Xiaolan immediately understood what was going on and quietly held the silver needle in her hand.
She continued to talk to Captain Xiao calmly and asked, "Where's my sister-in-law?"
Captain Xiao said, "Your sister-in-law is also stuck in the factory."
When Wang Xiaolan heard Captain Xiao's answer, she pretended to be surprised in order to let the people watching them relax their vigilance. At this time, someone ran over from the other side of the village and shouted, "Captain, this is not good..."
Just as everyone was looking at the newcomer, Wang Xiaolan took advantage of the moment when their attention was distracted and inserted the silver needle in her hand into the bodies of the two people.
The two men instantly felt as if struck by lightning, their bodies shaking uncontrollably. They fell to the ground, their limbs twitching as if they had lost control of their bodies.
Their faces were filled with pain and fear, their expressions distorted to the point of being unbearable to look at. Their once arrogant faces now became hideous and terrifying, their eyes revealing despair.
Wang Xiaolan said, "Captain Xiao, call the police quickly."
Captain Xiao, with an embarrassed look on his face, said, "The phone line has been cut again. I can't make a call."
Wang Xiaolan turned around and said to the driver, Xiao Wang, "Xiao Wang, go to the town police station to report the incident. Then go to the county police station and find Director Zhang to tell him what's going on here."
The driver, Xiao Wang, drove away from the village office without saying a word.
Captain Xiao, seeing the two guys who were monitoring him were like dead fish, showed a casual smile on his face and hurried into the village office to untie the villagers who were tied up with ropes.
Cheng Gang and several villagers dragged the two guys to the scene of the trouble.
The scene was in chaos, with workers and a group of people engaged in a fierce standoff. The air was filled with tension. Wang Xiaolan stood in the crowd, anxiously searching for something. Suddenly, her eyes fell on a familiar figure—Shi Hehua!
At the same time, Shi Hehua also saw Wang Xiaolan, and her guilty conscience immediately appeared on her face. She tried to act calm, but her inner fear made her unconsciously retreat away from the crowd, wanting to take the opportunity to escape the scene. However, Wang Xiaolan did not give her such an opportunity.
Wang Xiaolan gave Cheng Gang a wink, and Cheng Gang immediately blocked her way. She wanted to get angry, but she saw that the outskirts of the crowd had been surrounded by villagers.
Wang Xiaolan glared at Shi Hehua fiercely, and she was so scared that she trembled all over.
At this moment, the quarrel at the factory gate was extremely fierce, people's emotions were getting more and more excited, and their voices were getting louder and louder. However, they were unaware of the subtle changes taking place in the crowd.
Suddenly, a man dressed in a way that didn't fit in with the crowd appeared at the front. He wore a black hat, a cigarette dangling from his lips, and a signature mustache. He was dressed in an off-white cotton shirt and loose black trousers, and in his hand he held a black and white folding paper fan.
Anyone with a bit of discernment could tell at a glance that his outfit was clearly modeled after the traitors in that popular anti-Japanese war drama! And the man dressed like this was none other than Zhang An, a man Shi Hehua had only recently met and befriended.
His appearance escalated the argument. Zhang An, with his hands on his hips, looked at Wang Xiaolin, one of the factory managers, with an arrogant look on his face. He said shamelessly, "If you don't take the money, your factory will be closed down. We will also station our people in the leadership of your factory."
When Deputy Factory Director Wang Xiaolin heard this, he was immediately filled with rage. However, he did not lash out immediately. Instead, he suppressed his anger and said coldly, "You are such a hypocrite. You are so arrogant. Your unreasonable request is not only unacceptable to our general manager, but even we will not agree to it."
Zhang An listened, but burst into laughter, his laughter full of sarcasm and disdain.
He looked at Deputy Factory Director Wang Xiaolin, a cunning gleam in his eyes, and said, "What general manager? Isn't she just the barefoot doctor? Let me tell you, she got into trouble in the provincial capital and was arrested by the police. Don't you know? Haha, that's true, how would you ordinary people know?" There was a sense of gloating in his tone.
"You, you're talking nonsense."
Deputy Director Wang's face turned grim upon hearing this. She stared at Zhang An with wide eyes, disbelieving, and said, "That's pure nonsense. I think you're still asleep."
Zhang An said with a smug look on his face: "Bitch, you dare to say that I haven't woken up yet." Then he put away the folding fan and poked her chest with it with an evil look on his face.
