Liu Pei thought that there must be electricity in the operating room at this time.
"Liu Feng, you stay here, I'll go take a look."
"Okay, go ahead!"
Not long after Liu Pei left, a nurse wearing a large mask, with her entire head covered tightly, leaving only a pair of big eyes exposed, came pushing a medicine cart and swaggeringly pushed the door of the operating room.
Liu Feng stepped forward to stop her and asked, "Who asked you to come?"
"The power is out. It's the doctor who asked me to bring the emergency equipment."
"Which doctor?"
"It's the doctor in the operating room."
Liu Feng thought to himself, "Although there was a power outage, Wang Xiaolan didn't issue any instructions for emergency equipment. There must be something fishy going on here."
"We didn't ask for these things. Even if we did, we wouldn't use the equipment you sent us. We've already prepared it ourselves. It's not your turn to send any. Please go back!"
The nurse stood there with no intention of leaving.
At this time, the electricity came.
When the nurse saw the red light on above the operating room door, a look of panic and unwillingness flashed in her eyes, and she hurried away.
At this time, Liu Pei ran over and told Liu Feng, "I went to the hospital's engineering department to ask why the power to the operating room was turned off."
"Their response was that this was impossible. They sent an electrician with me to the power distribution room to check, and they discovered that someone had deliberately removed the switch."
"I asked, 'Why isn't the door locked for such an important place?' The electrician said it's always locked. He checked the lock and found signs of prying. It looked like someone had deliberately vandalized it."
Liu Feng told him what had just happened.
"There must be someone who doesn't want Zhao Lihan to wake up. Who is this person? Could it be..." Liu Pei suddenly thought of the case he was handling.
He slapped his forehead and said, "It should be one of theirs."
Just as the two were talking about what had just happened, Dean Li hurried over.
"Just now, the Health Department called again, saying I had violated hospital regulations and questioning why I allowed an unqualified barefoot doctor to perform the surgery. They said I had violated a taboo."
Liu Pei took out a letter with an official seal from his briefcase and handed it to Dean Li: "This is something I wrote specifically for you at the Public Security Bureau. If they come to you again, show them this letter."
"Zhao Lihan is our important witness. We have the right to designate a third party to perform the surgery. This has nothing to do with the regulations. They have no right to interfere."
Dean Li took the official letter and said, "With this official letter from you, I feel much more at ease. I am not afraid of their complaints anymore."
"Dean, thank you for helping us a lot. Zhao Lihan is very important to us. Without his testimony, we will not be able to close the case on hand." Liu Pei said, shaking Dean Li's hand.
"Everything you did was reasonable and legal."
"Okay, okay, I feel relieved with you guys here."
Liu Feng handed Dean Li a Pegasus cigarette: "Uncle, thank you! I'll give you a cigarette as a reward."
Dean Li took the cigarette and said, "Haha, you're smoking now, kid. And it's a good cigarette. Your dad smokes his own rolled cigarettes..."
"Uncle Li, I'm not that extravagant. This is for socializing."
Liu Pei took a cigarette from the box in Liu Feng's hand and said with a smile, "Then give me one."
"We're just brothers! Let's have a try."
Just then the door of the operating room opened and Wang Xiaolan came out.
All three of them walked into the operating room.
The dean asked anxiously, "Xiao Wang, was the operation successful?"
Wang Xiaolan nodded and said, "Very successful. This is the shrapnel inside." She handed a small plate to Dean Li, "This is it."
Dean Li picked it up with tweezers, examined it carefully, and said, "Is that all?"
"Yes! It was just a tiny bit. He was lucky, otherwise it would have cost him his life."
Dean Li said, "I'll take you to the inpatient department now."
After saying that, they pushed Zhao Lihan, who was still unconscious, to a place not far from the veterans' inpatient department. A particularly conspicuous red brick and tile house stood in the center of the inpatient department.
As soon as they entered the hall, a nurse came up to them, took them to the end of the corridor, and pushed open a door.
As soon as they walked into the room, they were stunned by the layout inside.
This is a small suite with a living room outside. There are two sets of single wooden sofas on both sides of the wall, and a telephone on the coffee table.
In the middle of the room, there is a floor-to-ceiling glass window with velvet curtains. In front of the window is a maroon desk.
On the table stood a bamboo thermos and an exquisite tea set made by a famous Chinese ceramics factory.
The innermost room is the bedroom, with a bed on each side of the wall.
Liu Feng took in the surroundings and said in surprise, "This is even more luxurious than the Provincial Party Committee's reception office. Uncle Li, I didn't expect your hospital to have such a high-end place."
"Yes, our intensive care unit is for experts who have made great contributions to the country, as well as international friends. Therefore, we put a lot of effort into the decoration and room layout."
Wang Xiaolan didn't know what to say after hearing what the dean said: "Dean, we still don't want to live here. This place is too high. We are embarrassed to live here."
"Zhao Lihan is also a hero, why not you? Are you..." the dean asked in confusion.
