Volume 1 Hidden Conspiracy Chapter 017

But these are not things I can consider right now. The most important thing right now is to take it one step at a time, draw the talisman to break the curse, and ensure my parents' safety.

My mind was a bit confused, and the next few spells all failed.

Uncle Ma seemed to sense my unease: "Girl, calm down, don't overthink it. You're not mentally stable right now, so it's unlikely you'll succeed."

It was only then that I realized what was happening, and I quickly composed myself: "Sorry, Uncle Ma, I was just a little distracted."

Uncle Ma waved his hand: "It's alright, focus on your practice, I'll be here watching."

I cleared my mind of all distractions and focused on the talisman. Before long, I had successfully drawn the second talisman.

The third one, the fourth one...

In two hours, I drew twelve talismans in a row. Although the speed was a bit slow, the success rate was already very high.

Uncle Ma patted my shoulder: "Girl, you did a good job. That's enough for today. Remember this feeling. When you get back, try to break the curse talisman slowly."

After listening to Uncle Ma's words, I began to look forward to it.

Night fell quickly, and through the balcony, it was pitch black outside.

Uncle Ma gave me an exorcism talisman and told me to put it in my pocket.

I followed Uncle Ma to the fifteenth floor, which was the place where the female ghost first appeared.

At this moment, I also began to feel uneasy.

After hearing Sun Mengcai's description, how could they not be afraid?

But I didn't dare stay in the house by myself, since the safest place was still with Uncle Ma.

I quickly followed Uncle Ma's pace, afraid that if I fell behind, something would suddenly appear behind me and grab me.

After all, I've seen horror movies, and ghosts, for example, love to attack people from behind.

Before long, we arrived at a private room on the fifteenth floor.

The door was open because I had informed Sun Mengcai in advance.

Uncle Ma and I went into the house together, and Uncle Ma closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

When Uncle Ma opened his eyes again, I was surprised to find that his eyes were as black as ink, as if he were wearing colored contact lenses.

Seeing my curiosity, Uncle Ma explained to me, "This is called the Ghost Eye, which is similar to the Yin-Yang Eye, but the difference is that my Ghost Eye can be activated selectively, while the Yin-Yang Eye is something you have to see."

"I've had this ghost eye since I was born. Maybe I was born to do this kind of work."

It was only then that I understood why I always felt that Uncle Ma's eyes were different from others, giving off a chilling feeling.

Perhaps, like Uncle Ma, he has also experienced distress because of these eyes.

Uncle Ma's gaze quickly locked onto the windowsill of the room. He took two steps forward and shouted at the air, "What? One death isn't enough? You want to die a second time? Taking your child with you?"

I could hear sarcasm, anger, and even a sense of disappointment in Uncle Ma's voice.

But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't see anything on the windowsill.

At this moment, Uncle Ma spoke up again: "Oh? There's no other way? So you have to die? What do you take life for?"

Do you know how much a life has to go through to come into this world?

"It's one thing if you die, but this child hasn't even seen the wonders of the world. Just because he has you as his mother, he will have to suffer the torments of hell again. He might even be beaten to death because of you!"

Seeing Uncle Ma so angry, I gently tugged at the corner of his clothes.

When Uncle Ma saw me pulling him, he realized I couldn't see: "It's best if you don't see, I'm afraid you won't be able to accept it."

However, at this point, my curiosity had overcome my reason: "Uncle Ma, can you let me see it? I want to see it."

When Uncle Ma saw that I was determined to see it, he didn't stop me. Instead, he put a calming talisman on my back and then took out a small bottle of an unknown liquid.

"This is cow tears. If you drip it into your eyes, you can see ghosts for a short time. It will sting your eyes, so you'll have to bear it." Uncle Ma then handed me the cow tears.

I dripped cow tears into my eyes, and a dry, stinging sensation came over me, making me involuntarily gasp.

After about half a minute, the feeling gradually disappeared, and I felt that my vision became foggy, as if I was surrounded by fog.

I looked up at the windowsill that Uncle Ma was looking at, and what I saw there made me exclaim, "Wow!"

I admit I regret it a little at this moment!

At that moment, I wanted to slap myself. Why was I so curious? What kind of terrifying thing was this?!

For no other reason than that I just glanced over and saw a naked female ghost standing on the windowsill like a telephone pole, extremely conspicuous.

Even more terrifying, blood was gushing out of her head—yes, gushing! Not dripping, I didn't mistype!

It looked like a perpetual motion machine of blood fountains, enough to support a hospital's blood bank.

She was holding an infant with the umbilical cord still attached in her arms. The baby looked much older than his age, like a little old man, and his appearance was quite eerie!

The baby's tiny feet were still kicking inside the female ghost's belly, pulling on the umbilical cord, making people feel nauseous!

I felt like the steamed buns I ate this morning didn't taste good anymore; they were pounding against my throat like boys and girls charging forward.

I couldn't hold it in any longer and ran straight to the bathroom, where I vomited violently.

I felt like I was going to throw up my stomach; the violent coughing brought tears to my eyes!

I leaned over the toilet for a while before the urge to vomit subsided.

I got up and frantically rinsed my mouth, even brushed my teeth, and then gulped down water. It took me a while before I finally left the bathroom.

When Uncle Ma saw me come out, he asked with concern, "How are you? Are you feeling better?"

“I was afraid you wouldn’t be able to accept it, so I didn’t think about opening your eyes.”

I looked at Uncle Ma pitifully: "Uncle Ma, you can actually try to hold on, waaaaah~~~"

"This is terrifying!"

Uncle Ma looked at me and smiled jokingly: "I'm just doing you a favor, haha. Alright, now I'm going to talk to this female ghost about serious business. You can listen in too."

I patted my chest and nodded: "Although the female ghost is still scary, I'm not as afraid as I was before. It's probably because Uncle Ma is here."

Uncle Ma said coldly, "I'll give you three seconds to get down!"

Startled by Uncle Ma's shout, the female ghost quickly grabbed the child, climbed down from the windowsill, and went inside.

Uncle Ma walked leisurely to the tea table and sat down, tapping the table with his hand: "Come sit down, tell me the details, I need to know the whole story."

"Don't even think about lying to me, don't even think about distorting the truth, I promise you won't do that!"
