Volume 1 Hidden Conspiracy, Chapter 43

The car soon arrived at the master's antique shop.

My master and I got out of the car, greeted Zhang Xiaoying, and then walked into the Taoist temple courtyard.

It was already evening, and I had no intention of going home.

I personally cooked a delicious meal for my master.

My master even praised my cooking, which made me a little embarrassed.

After dinner, I didn't slack off at all. I went straight into the side room and started practicing drawing talismans at the desk.

With daily practice, my success rate in drawing exorcism talismans has reached over 90%.

Nowadays, the success rate of intermediate-level talismans such as the Fiery Talisman and the Suppressing Talisman is over 40%.

However, what I don't understand is that many of the spellbooks are just scattered incantations.

But I couldn't understand its meaning.

However, the book does not record the top-tier talismans that the master mentioned.

I still remember when I first met my master, he mentioned the Source-Tracing Talisman, which is one of the top-tier talismans.

My strong curiosity motivates me to work even harder.

That's human nature; we're always full of anticipation for the unknown, and this is a necessary process for continuous progress in human history.

Lost in thought, I completely forgot about time.

Just as I finally drew the first exorcism talisman, I glanced at my phone:

"Is it already 3 a.m.?"

"Looks like I really got absorbed in it," I muttered to myself.

The moment I drew the exorcism talisman, I felt completely exhausted. I stretched and lay down on the bed.

Lying in bed, I couldn't help but start chuckling to myself.

"Heh, did you finally succeed?"

I suddenly stood up, picked up the talisman I had just drawn on the table, and was filled with excitement!

I lay on the bed with the talisman in my hand, admiring it quietly.

Even the corners of her mouth unconsciously curved upwards in a slight smile.

I took off my clothes, lay on the bed, and quietly fell asleep, placing the talisman by my pillow.

In my drowsy state, I heard a ringing sound:

"Sister Xiaoxi, wake up!"

I heard the ringing sound and groggily stirred, looking just like a caterpillar: "Lingling, stop it! I stayed up all night drawing talismans, I'm so sleepy, let me sleep a little longer..."

However, Lingling did not let go of my little hand that was shaking:

"Oh! It's Li Daoren and my senior brothers back!"

"If you don't get up soon, someone will trap you in bed!"

Upon hearing this, I jolted awake and did a somersault through the blanket, accidentally stepping on the corner of the blanket, which then slammed me hard onto the bed.

At that moment, I was completely dazed, my brain constantly asking myself: Who am I? Where am I? Where am I going?

After a few seconds of stunned silence, I hurriedly crawled out of bed, put on my clothes and shoes, and quickly went to the bathroom to wash up.

The moment I stumbled out of the side hall, I was completely stunned:

"Wu Shi? It's you?"

"Chen Xi? What are you doing here?"

Wu Shi and I spoke at almost the same time.

I kept covering my forehead, my mind was a little fuzzy, and I even wondered if I was dreaming: "No, wait a minute!"

"Let me catch my breath!"

"Didn't we say... you've even explored this far in your outdoor adventures?"

"Master, what's going on?"

Wu Shi, who was in the courtyard, was also confused when he heard what I said: "Master? What's going on?"

"Who is your master?"

Standing next to Wu Shi was a short, thin middle-aged man who looked to be in his early fifties.

The man had a goatee that resembled the character "八" (eight), and he looked somewhat comical, like a fortune teller from the streets.

At this moment, the master stepped forward and said, "As expected, I didn't expect it to be such a coincidence."

"When Xiaoxi gave me her home address last time, I wondered if it was a coincidence!"

"I never expected that you two would run into each other."

However, I still couldn't quite believe it, so I turned to my master and asked:

"So... my senior brother is him?"

"That doesn't make sense!"

"Wu Shi, didn't you say you were an outdoor adventurer?"

"So it really was? Were those all lies you told to hide your identity?"

When Wu Shi heard my question, he scratched his head somewhat awkwardly:

"That's just how our line of work is."

"After all, this line of work is too incredible, and no one would believe it."

Being too honest can actually cause others to feel resentful.

"But I didn't know that you were my master's disciple!"

Upon closer reflection, I realized that what Wu Shi said made some sense, but I still felt like I had been deceived.

At this moment, the middle-aged man next to Wu Shi interjected:

"Junior brother, when did you take this disciple as your apprentice?!"

"I never expected it to be a little girl."

The master replied, "It was during the time you were away on your business trip, about a month or so ago."

“This girl’s family encountered some trouble back then. I felt that I had a connection with her, so I thought I would try to help her.”

"I didn't expect this girl to be so capable. She drew the antidote in twenty days without any prior knowledge."

"Oh? Is there really such a thing?" My senior apprentice was somewhat taken aback.

However, the master nodded:

"Now it seems that this girl is really talented."

"Now I can draw two mid-level talismans: the Fiery Talisman and the Suppressing Talisman."

Even Wu Shi seemed somewhat surprised when he heard his master's words.

Then, my senior uncle slowly walked towards me, looking me up and down, which made me a little nervous.

Then his senior brother spoke up calmly: "Nephew, there's no need to be nervous. It's our first time meeting, so I can't not show my respect."

Then, he took out two small wooden boxes from his person and handed them to me.

"Each of these two boxes contains two pills. The black wooden box contains a life-saving pill, and the brown wooden box contains an antidote pill."

"These two pills will be useful to you in the future, so don't let them out of your sight."

I didn't immediately take the wooden box, but instead turned my gaze to my master who was standing to the side.

My master didn't say much, but nodded at me.

Seeing my master nod, I sincerely accepted the wooden box:

"Thank you, Senior Uncle!"

"Haha, no need to thank me. From now on, we're family. You'll have to learn a lot from your master!"

I nodded and replied, "Yes, nephew, I'll remember."

After handing over the box, the senior master turned to Wu Shi and said:

"Shi'er, your uncle and I have important matters to discuss. You should first take your junior sister and familiarize yourself with the courtyard."

Upon hearing his senior's words, Wu Shi nodded silently.

The senior master then led his master toward the Cold Cloud Hall.

My gaze, however, fell upon Wu Shi.

The feeling at that moment was somewhat complicated, yet it also seemed that our relationship had grown closer...
