The master looked at the man, his tone full of certainty.
The man's name was Niu Wen, and the woman's name was Song Lijuan.
Niu Wen's tone was weak, as if he were terminally ill: "Sir, you are truly amazing. You were right. Besides me, there is another brother who is a year younger than me."
Upon hearing Niu Wen's words, the master nodded and said, "Then I have a general understanding of the situation. Everything will become clear once I get to your place."
Song Lijuan asked with some concern, "Sir, how much should we pay you?"
The master waved his hand: "After the matter is resolved, the amount of the reward will depend on your willingness."
"Alright, you two wait for me. I'll set off with you in 10 minutes."
After saying that, Master gave me a look.
I instantly understood and sat down in the spot where my master had just been sitting.
After my master left, Song Lijuan turned her gaze to me:
"Little girl, how old are you this year?"
"You look quite young. Is that gentleman your father?"
When I heard Song Lijuan's question, I answered casually:
"No, he is my master."
Song Lijuan seemed somewhat surprised: "Is this line of work very profitable?"
Why would a little girl need to learn these things?
I'm getting a little annoyed by Song Lijuan's constant talk about money.
"Many things cannot be measured by money."
"Furthermore, if no one is willing to carry on this tradition, who will you turn to for help?"
When Song Lijuan heard what I said, she was speechless.
I noticed them the moment they walked in.
Song Lijuan's words definitely concealed important information.
Otherwise, Master wouldn't have had that expression.
I am good at observing and analyzing other people's words and actions, because in the struggle for interests, some subtle expressions are enough to judge the other party's bottom line and concerns.
Just from the moment Song Lijuan's eyes darted away, she must have something to hide and hadn't revealed.
However, I have no idea what exactly happened.
When the master came out of the Taoist hall, he had already changed into a clean, plain-colored robe.
"Let's go."
The master simply left a few words and walked towards the vehicles by the roadside.
The couple and I followed behind and got into Master's car.
As the car drove towards Zhaojiawu, we did not speak to the couple.
There must be a reason why Master did this.
After about twenty minutes of driving, we arrived at this small village called Zhaojiawu.
The village is small, with only about forty households.
The roads in the village are somewhat potholed, and it seems that they have not been planned.
Even inside the village, several dirt and stone roads remain, making the ride very bumpy.
Following Song Lijuan's directions, after entering the village and turning a few corners, we arrived at the couple's home.
Compared to other families in the village, the couple's house was considered quite good.
Before even entering the courtyard, a large iron gate blocked the way.
Song Lijuan got out of the car, took out her keys, and slowly opened the door.
The master drove the car into the yard and parked it in a corner.
The yard is planted with all kinds of vegetables, and it is now the harvest season.
Inside the yard, a Chinese rural dog was wagging its tail excitedly in our direction.
Logically speaking, this family's life, while not wealthy, was still manageable.
But for some reason, the closer I got to the house, the more I felt a chill creeping into my heart!
The master did not go into the house immediately, but instead began to look around the courtyard.
But strangely, this time the master didn't open his ghost eyes; he just looked around as if he were on a tour.
The master walked around and his gaze fell on the dilapidated pigsty to the side.
It's called a pigsty, but there are no pigs inside.
This is practically standard practice in rural areas; even if a family doesn't raise pigs, they'll build a pigsty in advance.
The master walked around for a while before asking the couple, "Does your brother's family live close to yours?"
Upon hearing his master's question, Niu Wen nodded quickly: "It's nearby, right in our backyard."
The master nodded: "Would it be convenient for you to take me to see it?"
Niu Wen hesitated, then said, "This..."
At the same time, Niu Wen's eyes subconsciously glanced at his wife beside him.
His action further confirms that there must be something hidden going on.
At this moment, the master's face gradually turned cold, and he said in a deep voice, "If you still don't talk, then I think you won't live much longer."
Upon hearing my master's words, the couple both jolted, and the panic on their faces became even more apparent:
"No, sir, it's just... oh dear... it's just that our family and the second son's family have a rather strained relationship."
"Back when we were dividing the family property, we almost came to blows over this little thing."
"At that time, things had already escalated to the point where they no longer communicated with each other."
"If we go to him now, won't we just end up fighting again?"
Upon hearing Niu Wen's words, the master could no longer contain himself: "Hmph! Don't you two have any idea how you contracted this serious illness?"
"I'm already being lenient by not exposing your beastly behavior!"
"I'll only ask you one question: why is there a tattered quilt in the pigsty?"
