The library, bathed in red mist, had a cool breeze in the flowing air.
The sacred library has abandoned its tranquility and peace, seemingly transformed into a battlefield where slaughterers can do whatever they want.
Every book on the bookshelf exuded a bloody smell, with stories of death lined up one after another.
The administrator followed behind Yan Jiu and said, "Please stand here and don't move. I'll go get the number plate."
Yan Jiu was puzzled.
Why are we standing?
Can't I sit down?
soon.
When the administrator returned with the gold badge, Yan Jiu was already sitting on the ground yawning.
The administrator wasn't angry at all.
Instead, she smiled.
Look.
It is sloth, one of the seven deadly sins, that dances in the night, revealing its presence.
The administrator led the way with a kerosene lamp, the red glow of which made his face appear somewhat mad.
Yan Jiu's gaze fell on the red light, then on the administrator with the dark gray shadow.
She remembered the instructions on the statue.
But very soon.
Yan Jiu didn't have time to think about it further.
She saw another side of the library.
The enormous bookshelf was pushed aside, and the floor extended downwards, revealing a hidden underground staircase.
The administrator stood aside: "The Holy Land can grant you any wish you desire. Go forth, believer of my Lord."
Yan Jiu raised an eyebrow. Upon hearing that she could exchange it for anything, she couldn't help but feel a little impatient.
Stepping underground.
Yan Jiu then realized that the place she was in was just one of the underground passages, and there were four more like it.
I just don't know if the other four lead to somewhere on campus or somewhere in the world.
She withdrew her gaze, tucked her hands into her sleeves, and went to the sacred place the administrator had mentioned.
There is a statue in the very center of the underground area.
Unlike the statue at the campus entrance.
This is an angel statue.
An angel in a long robe crossed her arms over her chest and looked down on the world with compassion.
Its broad wings spread out in the air, and it was so holy that it didn't resemble a rat hiding in a gutter at all.
After Yan Jiu appeared.
A small, exquisite doll peeked out from behind the angel statue. It was made of cotton and appeared with short legs. It was wearing a pinafore dress with small wings.
The doll reminded Yan Jiu in a soft voice: "Take out your number tag, kneel down and begin your prayer."
Yan Jiu's eyes flashed when she looked at the doll.
This doll actually possesses a power of light that is even purer than that of the angel statue.
He's got quite a background~
Yan Jiu locked onto him with her gaze.
The doll shuddered violently.
I had a strange, ominous feeling, a feeling even more ominous than when it was injured by Satan and lost its Seraphic body, forcing it to hide in a doll to temporarily escape the annihilation of the fallen angels.
It was unaware of how intense Yan Jiu's gaze was, so intense that it might shove it into its pocket and take it away at any moment.
The dolls waited quietly for the apostles' prayers.
This is its daily task as a doll sent to Scholomance to collect the power of hope.
Yan Jiu's expression remained unchanged, but she said, "My knees are injured and I can't bend down. Why don't you kneel down for me?"
The doll with two braids tilted its head, clearly not expecting Yan Jiu to say that.
Yan Jiu suddenly changed the subject: "If I sincerely pray to become rich overnight, what price would I have to pay? In other words, what would I need to exchange for it?"
The doll stated directly, "It needs at least ten years of lifespan."
Yan Jiu pursed her lips and asked again, "Does the three-star mentor certificate come with a half-price discount?"
The doll was confused.
It looked at Yan Jiu.
I'm a little curious about this human's thought process; why is it different from others?
“I knew it wouldn’t be.” Yan Jiu grabbed the doll and stroked its fur as she said, “In ancient times, paper had a spirit, and now dolls have become sentient. You’re the most valuable one here.”
doll:"!!!"
When it was grabbed, it almost thought its true identity had been exposed.
Seeing that Yan Jiu did not show any greed, but only excitement, the doll breathed a sigh of relief in its heart.
Yan Jiu looked around.
The underground space was extremely vast and empty; apart from the angel statue, there was nothing else to be found.
You can exchange anything here; it's nothing more than praying to the angel statue, or paying a higher price for a brief chance to have your wish fulfilled.
Yan Jiu still couldn't solve those three mysteries.
But Yan Jiu guessed that the library was probably used by the school's higher-ups to keep those professors in check.
Other schools pay students a salary for working, but this school feeds students' desire to "eat" them.
It doesn't require paying salaries, and it can also collect many people's wishes, as well as the cost of fulfilling those wishes.
It truly is unlike anything else.
Freebies have reached a new level.
Yan Jiu grew increasingly curious, feeling a thrill of being able to open blind boxes without spending any money.
Then.
An excited Yan Jiu looked at the angel statue.
He raised his foot and kicked him down.
The next second.
The angel statue was shattered like a mirror.
The doll covered its face and screamed.
With the motto "I can't leave empty-handed," Yan Jiu clapped his hands and immediately took the doll for himself.
The doll struggled: "Human, let me go!"
Yan Jiu dusted off the dust and drew thick, long eyebrows on the bare doll: "Don't move. I'll draw your eyebrows first, and then I'll take you back to the light of day. You're welcome."
The doll's originally delicate face instantly became ugly-cute; it struggled for a long time but still couldn't get rid of Yan Jiu.
then.
When the administrator finally saw Yan Jiu, he noticed that the doll perched on Yan Jiu's shoulder looked utterly dejected.
The administrator didn't mind: "What's wrong?"
Yan Jiu feigned anger: "This is garbage! I'm going to complain! The angel statue can't fulfill my wish at all!"
