Chapter 227 Collapse

Chapter 227 Collapse

Mary and Lena climbed up the slope, and gradually the metal railings disappeared.

In the darkness, Mary, who was at the front, suddenly felt a staircase.

After walking a few steps, they came to a door.

It was a small wooden door with inlaid patterns. It was very small but extremely delicate. At first glance, it seemed to be designed specifically for children.

Mary turned the doorknob easily. She pushed it open and light flooded in.

It was an attic room with a row of four stained-glass windows through which the light came.

The vertical triangular windows, like a church, protrude from the roof.

This space seems to be independent of the palace, and the only way to get up is through a secret corridor hidden in the wall.

The fire didn't reach here, but it still looked bad.

The walls were blackened with smoke, with wavy black lines like burn marks. There were holes in the floor, revealing the gap between it and the ceiling of the room below.

However, the room was in good condition overall, and the carpet and exotic wallpaper were not damaged.

The furniture was also intact, and on a throne-like chair sat Lady Elizabeth, her face twisted and glaring fiercely.

Mary and Lena simultaneously clenched their fists and the daggers in their hands. They hunched their backs slightly, their chests rising and falling like panthers ready to pounce.

But soon the two of them noticed something unusual. Lady Elizabeth's malicious gaze was not directed at them.

To be precise, her eyes were unfocused, and she was staring at a moment in the past with resentment.

The two approached cautiously, their eyes becoming increasingly empty, as if they were trying to grasp something in vain.

At this time, Lady Elizabeth was wearing heavy makeup and powder, so thick that it looked like a mask, making it impossible to see her true appearance.

Her mouth was enlarged by the lipstick, her eyebrows were thickened by the drawing, and her cheekbones were made higher by the makeup.

When you stand close enough, you can see saliva dripping from the corner of her mouth and onto her thighs.

She reeked of alcohol, mingling with other, fouler, more disgusting odors.

Her hair was completely hidden by a wig, with the thick blond curls tilted slightly to reveal short, sparse gray hair underneath.

She was wearing a green evening gown with a high collar that covered her throat and rested on her chin. She had her legs crossed and her feet on a nearby chair.

She was wearing soft silk slippers, and her hands rested on her thighs, hanging lifelessly, just like her loose mouth.

Mary and Lena moved closer in a daze. They had never thought they would see such an expression on Lady Elizabeth's face.

In my memory, although she had a heart as poisonous as a scorpion, she was a true beauty. The kind of beauty that radiated from the inside out was so beautiful that it moved the heart.

Now, she is not beautiful, but ugly.

That beautiful skin was swept away by the fire, leaving only ashes.

The first time Mary and Lena saw Lady Elizabeth, they knew she was finished.

Her energy was drained away, she became weak, and her whole body exuded a sense of decay.

She floated on the black lake, and soon the black water would drag her under.

The room was filled with a deep silence, even breathing was barely audible.

Mary and Lena were at a loss, their rage for revenge vanished without a trace.

They were shocked and confused, not understanding why their former instructor had suddenly fallen into such a situation.

They were standing right in front of her, but she ignored them.

"Mary, we..." Lena was distraught and the dagger in her hand quietly loosened.

"She didn't live long. The fire destroyed the palace and destroyed her too."

"I" Tears flashed in Lena's eyes. She wanted to say something but was suddenly interrupted by a scream.

A heart-wrenching cry, as sharp and piercing as the roar of a wild boar was heard.

Mary turned around suddenly, and Lady Elizabeth's eunuch, Abu, rushed over quickly.

She instinctively raised her arms to block, but it was too late. Abu's fierce collision caused Mary to lose her balance.

He held Mary and broke through an attic window. Mary leaned back and hung outside the window.

"Mary!" Lena screamed and pounced on her like a leopard.

As a result, another figure bumped into her and both of them fell and rolled.

Lina saw the face clearly, a face identical to Abu's. He also had braids, shaved eyebrows, and a tattoo on his bald chin.

They are twin brothers! Lady Elizabeth's two personal servants are actually twin brothers!

He held a scimitar as thin as a cicada's wing in his hand and pressed it down towards Lena viciously.

Lena held on desperately, she turned her head to look at the window, Mary was still there.

The broken glass cut Mary's arms and ears. The wounds were deep and cold blood flowed out.

She was pressed against the windowsill and could see the blue sky above her head and Abu's head shaking wildly.

Abu pushed Mary forward desperately, his feet moving strangely forward on the ground, not worrying at all about falling out of the window.

Mary realized that he was planning to die together, so she pushed them both out and landed heavily on the ground.

Abu has no confidence in defeating Mary, so he can only take the initiative and fight for his life.

Mary hooked one leg around the windowsill and leaned back to release the force. Caught off guard, Abu rushed forward and fell to the windowsill.

Mary took the opportunity to climb through the window and grabbed Abu's braid with one hand. Then she used her feet and shoulders to throw Abu out with an over-the-shoulder throw.

She wanted to help Lena, but Abu jumped up and rushed over screaming again.

Mary touched her waist and found a dagger in her hand.

While Abu was rushing over, she ducked down and squeezed out from under his arm, then turned around and swiped a few times.

Abu screamed in pain. His legs and back were covered with deep wounds.

But he still charged forward fearlessly, and Mary's eyes flashed with anxiety.

She knew that Abu wanted to buy time for his twin brother, and Lena was in danger.

After all, women's explosive power is not as long-lasting as men's. The scimitar in front of Lena was getting closer and closer, only a few centimeters away from her pupils.

Lena was furious and was ready to trade injury for injury, sacrificing an ear in exchange for an opportunity to counterattack.

"Puff!" A muffled sound suddenly echoed in the room.

The figure above Lena trembled, then slowly fell to the ground.

Everyone looked towards the doorway. Ron had appeared there, pistol in hand. Anil and several of his men were also scattered around the attic, searching for any suspicious hidden targets.

"This is my first time shooting, and it's pretty accurate." He breathed a sigh of relief.

Lena collapsed to the ground and smiled.

"Dude, did you choose this time on purpose to be a hero?"

"Don't mention it. Those broken stairs break if you step on them. I searched for a long time before I finally found my way here."

"You came at the right time." Mary also smiled.

A scream interrupted their greetings, and Abu suddenly gave up Mary and rushed towards Ron.

The sternness on his face turned into shock, and then into ferocity, anger, and extreme hatred.

The hatred in his voice made his screams pierce the eardrums and make people feel terrified.

He didn't care, ignoring the bleeding wounds on his body, and rushed towards Ron like a madman.

Fire, a blazing fire, gushing out rage, burning his eyes until they were about to burst.

Bang! Anil raised his hand and fired a shot, aiming at the eunuch's abdomen.

Abu's legs gave way and he fell to the side. Whimpering in pain, he rolled on the floor, hunched over, cradling his bleeding wound.

He groaned, but with great perseverance he got up, limped towards the throne-like chair, put his body in front of Lady Elizabeth, and protected her with his bare chest.

He stared at Ron fiercely. He knew that he couldn't protect his master, but he still did it.

Anil raised his gun, but Ron reached out to stop him and looked at Mary and the others.

"Do you have any questions?"

"Forget it, the palace is finished, and they are finished too."

Abu was already at the end of his strength, and his twin brother had already fallen silently in a pool of blood.

Ron looked at Lady Elizabeth in the chair. This was the first time he had seen her.

It is impossible to tell his specific age and nationality. He may have Russian ancestry, or he may be of Hispanic descent, or he may have Greek ancestry.

"It's very different from the picture," Ron commented.

"You haven't seen her when she was young." Lena got up from the floor.

"So what happened?" he asked.

"Let's talk about it outside. Why did you come up here?" Mary walked over.

"I'm worried. You've been here for too long, and there's been no movement. Honestly, this building is very dangerous. I can feel something's wrong just by stepping on the floor."

"Well, it's over." Mary turned around at the attic door.

Abu collapsed under the throne, staring blankly at the ceiling, his chest no longer rising or falling.

Lady Elizabeth still had a hollow look in her eyes and a loose mouth half open.

She was as motionless as a puppet, without breathing or heartbeat, and would probably fall over with the slightest push.

A few people turned around and left, but the secret corridor suddenly collapsed. It could not bear the weight of so many people at the same time.

They fell, through the fire-scorched wood, and landed heavily on the hard floor.

"Ahem. Damn it!" Ron came out of the secret passage covered in dust.

"I almost fell here." Mary pushed Lena away with lingering fear.

The raised charcoal dust and fibers made several people cough and spit out dirty things from their mouths.

"Are you okay, master?" Anil fell last.

"Listen," Ron pricked up his ear, "this is not good, run!"

A slight creaking sound came from the roof, like the sound of ice cracking.

Several people were so frightened that they ran out of the building quickly and left through the back door of the yard.

Boom! The attic on the top of the third floor collapsed diagonally and fell to the ground, raising a large cloud of dust.

"Damn, luckily I ran fast!" Ron was still scared.

He guessed that the collapse of the secret passage just now caused a series of chain reactions.

The secret passage is connected to the attic and has only one exit.

Mary and Lena stared at the ruins in silence.

Ron couldn't describe the feeling. It was as if they had unloaded some kind of burden, feeling both relaxed and tired.

"It's over," Mary sighed.

"Free." Lena smiled.

"Ladies, we can talk about your feelings later. We'd better leave quickly before outsiders come to check." Ron had to interrupt them.

"That's right, we're going to have a good drink tonight."

"Yes, I won't go home until I'm drunk!" Lena shouted.

Ron took one last look at the ruins of the palace, his eyes flashing.

Lady Elizabeth, dead.
