Chapter 108: The Matchmaker's Tale (Part 6)

Emerging from the spiritual leader's residence, Yan Shi saw Zhuang Zhao waiting outside. She ran a few steps and pounced on him, and Zhuang Zhao used her momentum to hug her and spin her around twice.

"Look," Yan Shi hurriedly showed Zhuang Zhao the gold bricks he had just earned.

"This is the first time I've ever held such a large piece of gold." Yan Shi was extremely excited, but his hands got sore after holding it for a while.

"I admire my wife the most for supporting the family."

"It's nothing, take it and buy some nice clothes. You can't always wear such shabby clothes." Yan Shi stuffed the gold brick into Zhuang Zhao's hand, and took the opportunity to grope him, deliberately brushing her fingertips across the back of his hand. Then Zhuang Zhao grabbed her wrist and kissed the back of her hand.

"Don't try to seduce me outside."

"Tui!" Yan Shi said with a grin.

"Harmony in bed leads to harmony in life," Zhuang Zhao said in a deep voice, his forehead touching hers as he lowered his head.

Yan Shi felt a sweet, itchy sensation in his heart; he was absolutely smitten with this adorable little guy in front of him.

The country is developing well and has many tourist attractions worth visiting. Yan Shi and Zhuang Zhao took Yi Fan and Yang Yang to many places during the holiday and took a lot of photos.

A magnificent palace with gardens and art galleries, a national jewelry museum with numerous luxurious and exquisite jewels, mosques of various religious styles, ancient tombs, a historic city steeped in history, the pristine Amirchakhmag Square, the beautiful Thirty-Three Arch Bridge…

“Our Yifan and Yangyang grew up surrounded by art, so maybe they will develop artistic talent in the future.”

Leaving aside worries, immersing oneself in the magnificent and colorful architecture and art provides immense relaxation for both body and mind.

On the way back, they encountered robbers. Yan Shi went all out and beat them black and blue.

The other party had guns, but Zhuang Zhao's puppet protected everyone so they weren't hurt. However, Yangyang was so frightened that he cried and couldn't be comforted no matter what they did.

Yangyang developed a low-grade fever upon returning home, and the accompanying doctor's examination did not provide any relief. Yan Shi felt distressed seeing Yangyang's discomfort and later remembered that Han Yan and Han Mo had given him a handful of talismans before he left. He searched through them one by one and actually found one that could calm the nerves.

The calming talisman was folded into a triangle and placed in Yangyang's chest pocket, in case her fever spiked again. The two adults took turns keeping watch over her, dozing off and waking up intermittently. Thankfully, it didn't get worse.

Her fever had subsided by morning, and she stopped crying. However, she wasn't in good spirits. Yan Shi stayed by her side constantly, and even bought her her favorite cream cake.

When Yangyang was unwell, Yifan stayed by his side, saying that he would send Yangyang away sooner or later, but he took better care of Yangyang than anyone else.

When Yan Shi returned to work, he found a colleague getting along very well with an Iraqi girl. The gossipy Yan Shi couldn't resist the urge to chat, so he started gossiping with his colleague.

When Yan Shi was predicting the marriage compatibility of her colleagues, the male colleagues were not very enthusiastic. Some even made sarcastic remarks, saying that it was feudal superstition and that women only knew about love and romance. There was nothing they couldn't ridicule.

As for the one whose love was blossoming, she didn't join the sarcastic remarks at the time. She didn't say a word to anyone on the side. She even glanced at him a little more and had a feeling that his marriage was coming soon. She thought it was just a misconception caused by the positive feelings she had for him.

Before leaving Iraq, that colleague borrowed money from everyone to marry a girl.

That colleague had to join the religion for the marriage to be recognized as valid, and the religion forbids eating pork. Everyone said that only true love could resist the temptation of pork.

Next stop, Pakistan, also the most thrilling and exciting place we encountered.

Having witnessed women in constant danger in the countries along the way, Yan Shi thought that the peaceful and prosperous Ba Kingdom was truly at peace. However, on his very first day in the city, he was almost doused with strong acid.

Yan Shi instinctively turned around to protect Yi Fan and Yang Yang, while Zhuang Zhao reached out and pulled her into his arms. At the same time, the woman beside him let out a painful scream.

Zhuang Zhao got some splashed on his back, but luckily he was carrying a backpack. Just looking at the holes in the bag, you could imagine how painful it would have been if it had touched his skin.

Yan Shi wasn't so lucky. A few drops splashed onto her calf, and because she was wearing thin clothes, they burned her skin directly, causing her to cry from the pain.

Zhuang Zhao quickly took out water from his bag to rinse Yan Shi's wound. The cloth blocked most of the strong acid, and there wasn't much strong acid that burned the skin. Otherwise, he should have wiped it with an absorbent cloth or paper towel first, and then washed it with soapy water.

Those who witnessed this horrifying scene were also quite shocked, and those who reacted quickly had already joined forces to subdue the culprit.

Zhuang Zhao focused on taking care of Yan Shi, and the others couldn't ignore the victim either, so they immediately sent her to the nearest hospital after emergency treatment.

In fact, the accompanying doctor could also handle it, but it's easier to get a certificate from the hospital, which maximizes convenience and benefits.

Yan Shi was still in shock. Although he had heard of people throwing sulfuric acid at each other after a disagreement in Xingguo, he never thought that such a thing would actually happen to him, or that he would be caught in the crossfire.

She glanced at it and saw that the victim's face was truly unrecognizable. Her right eye was probably beyond saving, and her nose and lips were severely burned, not to mention the skin on her face.

While feeling lingering fear, Yan Shi was also grateful for her and Zhuang Zhao's good fortune. If she had to continue living with such a severely disfigured face, she would never have been able to live optimistically. She would either have to take risks to save money or move to a deserted place.

Yifan gripped Yanshi's hand tightly, his eyes scanning the surroundings like radar, ready to react at any moment, fearing that something unexpected might happen again.

Yangyang was unaware of what had just happened, but sensing the tense atmosphere, she anxiously clung to Yan Shi's neck.

Zhuang Zhao looked at the little brats who had completely taken over Yan Shi's hands and wanted to throw them all out.

Yan Shi's injury was treated promptly and wasn't serious, at most leaving a scar. Apart from still being a little painful, Yan Shi didn't care much about it. However, Zhuang Zhao was extremely distressed and rummaged through the corner of his luggage to find a topical medicine to remove the scar, and even helped Yan Shi avoid certain foods.

Yan Shi: It's not even a scar the size of a fingernail, and it's on your calf. Is it really that serious?

However, she quite liked the gifts sent by Pakistan.

This time, Yan Shi kept quiet. He didn't go out to set up a stall or wander around. He stayed in his room except for his shifts, afraid of getting involved in any trouble again.

People tend to overthink when they have free time. As Yan Shi flipped through the "Divine Calculation Manual" that he knew by heart, he pondered why women in these countries had such low status but few voices of resistance.

Just like the perpetrator who threw strong acid was the victim's husband, because he suspected the woman, his wife, of adultery.

However, the man was not punished. In Pakistan, as long as the victim's family forgives the murderer, the murderer can go unpunished.

Although this issue is increasingly opposed, the country has not yet introduced relevant laws.

When the sun outside the window had faded into nothingness, Yan Shi finally snapped out of her thoughts. Yi Fan and Yang Yang were both asleep, the two little ones curled up like restless kittens.

Zhuang Zhao hadn't returned yet. Yan Shi stretched her stiff body and planned to go to the kitchen to prepare dinner; she was hungry.

She remembered that when she was little, she would always tell her mother that she was hungry as soon as she got home. Now that she thought about it, Yifan and Yangyang never told her they were hungry; they always told Zhuang Zhao.

Although Zhuang Zhao's cooking is indeed delicious.

Today she'll show off her skills and let them taste her cooking.

Yan Shi's overflowing confidence collapsed instantly upon seeing the ingredients available in the kitchen. She didn't seem to know how to cook any of these dishes, so she decided to wait for Zhuang Zhao to return.
