Chapter 110: The Matchmaker's Tale (End)

The group followed the location and found it to be a private residence.

Just as her colleague was about to knock on the door, Yan Shi reached out and stopped him.

"I don't know what's going on inside, I want to find out." Yan Shi looked at Zhuang Zhao, who released a lifelike puppet insect. The puppet insect circled around once and went directly into the house.

The phone screen showed the situation inside the house, and there was nothing strange about it.

"Find the basement," Yan Shi said at the opportune moment.

Zhuang Zhao immediately switched his focus to the basement and quickly found the entrance.

"Then what?"

"Can we sneak in as quietly as possible?"

"We have invisibility talismans, but it's still quite difficult to avoid being discovered."

"Let's give it a try. If we get caught, we'll just force our way in. If we don't find our colleagues, we'll just apologize." After saying that, Yan Shi went to his bag to find an invisibility talisman, and he and Zhuang Zhao stuck it on before going inside.

The others who came with us: What about us?

The two tiptoed in, and when they opened the basement door, they inevitably made a sound, immediately sensing that the atmosphere inside was different.

However, it could also be due to a guilty conscience.

The dim light on the wall couldn't illuminate the ground at all, and the two groped their way forward, like they were in a haunted house.

Just as she was concentrating on her studies, a dark figure suddenly rushed over, startling Yan Shi so much that she almost cried out. It was Zhuang Zhao who caught her in time, bringing her back to her senses.

Invisibility is simply concealing one's physical form. It can be understood as using optical effects to make the body difficult to see. Sound, breathing, and the body itself cannot be hidden.

Unable to communicate verbally, Yan Shi mentally prepared himself and peeked out from Zhuang Zhao's arms, only to find himself face-to-face with the dark figure.

Yan Shi was so frightened that he was speechless. He slumped into Zhuang Zhao's arms, and if Zhuang Zhao hadn't caught him, he would have slid to the ground.

That thing... is it a human head?

Suddenly, Yan Shi remembered a phrase: "flying head descending."

She didn't know much about flying head curses, only that it was a type of black magic where the flying heads would eat people. That was about it. She had only seen it in anime and novels, and its authenticity was questionable, or rather, impossible to verify.

The sorcery of Dika Kingdom is real; it is a form of witchcraft with many conflicting origins. One lineage shares similarities with the Gu poison of Miao territory, but it's not to say that all of them are the same.

The Flying Head Curse is the most mysterious and difficult of them all. If you don't master it, you can easily be killed by the shrimp soldiers and crab generals. Generally, only people with deep-seated hatred and no ties can make up their minds to do it.

Wouldn't her colleague become food for the flying head curse? Would she even have a chance to survive?

Does she eat this black hole?

Yan Shi patted Zhuang Zhao, pointed to the head that was so close to him, and made a throat-slitting gesture.

Can it be taken care of?

Zhuang Zhao nodded, pointed to the head, made a throat-slitting gesture, and clenched his left fist and slapped it against his right palm – a pre-arranged code between the two.

Should we kill it?

Yan Shi shook his head and moved his right index and middle fingers in the air twice.

We'll take care of it if needed.

After all that, he was short of oxygen and Yan Shi held his breath to the limit. Just as he was about to catch his breath, his head flew back to his normal position.

Thankfully, physical violence was avoided.

Adjusting their breathing, the two continued to grope forward. After more than ten steps, the space widened and became brighter, allowing them to see the situation clearly, though they still couldn't understand it.

My colleague and his wife were lying slumped in the corner, I don’t know if they were still breathing.

I didn't see the head I had just seen, but there was a short person sitting on the futon in the middle, surrounded by a circle of candles.

Candles are practically an essential item for warding off people. Whether it's a person or a ghost, their presence will inevitably cause air disturbances, and these air disturbances will cause the flame to flicker.

Yan Shi informed Zhuang Zhao, regardless of whether he would be discovered, or perhaps he was even hoping to be discovered, and went directly to his colleague to check on him.

Thankfully, I'm still alive.

"Aren't you going to show yourself?" A hoarse male voice suddenly rang out behind Yan Shi.

Yan Shi wanted to retort, but swallowed the words back down.

Forget it, there's no need. Their identities are special, and there's no need to reveal them and cause trouble for the country.

They applied teleportation talismans to the two of them, and when Zhuang Zhao arrived, they teleported directly to the side of his colleague who had come with them.

"Get in the car, let's go." Yan Shi said to his dumbfounded colleagues, and together with Zhuang Zhao, they carried the two still unconscious people into the car.

Back at the investigation team, I didn't tell the leader too many details. The leader sensed something was wrong and immediately led everyone away by car.

"Dica is too strange, I'd better not come here again."

After waking up, my colleague told everyone what had happened.

His wife's period was late, and he was worried that she might be pregnant, so he wanted to buy a pregnancy test. Just as he left the pharmacy, he bumped into an old man, and then his body went out of control and he followed the old man home.

He fainted after going down to the basement. He woke up once and heard a particularly pitiful woman's scream, as well as strange laughter and gnawing sounds. He couldn't open his eyes or move. He didn't know how much time had passed before he fainted again. When he opened his eyes again, he was in the car.

"Where's my wife? How is she?"

"She had just miscarried and was seriously injured, so her body was in great distress and she had been in a coma."

"Miscarriage? How did you miscarry?"

“It must have been that sorcerer who took the child away,” Yan Shi replied.

The male colleague fell silent.

"A baby who's only a little over a month old, not even the size of a fingernail, what can you do with it?" the male colleague muttered to himself.

The ghost baby might be removed because the mother sensed that the fetus wouldn't stay long, rather than being raised in the mother's body until birth. Ghost babies raised in the mother's pain have stronger resentment and are more effective.

Yan Shi didn't say what was on his mind; there was no need for them to know, as it would only add to their unnecessary guilt.
