Chapter 113 The New Year

When the family of three returned, their master was nowhere to be found in the house.

Yan Shi didn't want to upset himself any further, so he shook his head and sealed away the matter of his master and Miss Ding Xiang, returning to the routine of preparing for the New Year.

On the day before the Lunar New Year, Yan Shizheng, Zhuang Zhao, and Yi Fan made dumplings together. They were feeling lazy during the New Year, so they made a lot of frozen dumplings. They could just cook them with whatever they wanted later, which was convenient and nutritious.

They didn't make too many dumplings, and it took the three of them more than an hour to work together. Yan Shi's neck ached from looking down so much.

Just as I finished working and collapsed on the sofa, too tired to move, the doorbell rang.

"Yifan, go see who it is."

"It's your senior brother."

"Then open the door, and run back immediately after you open it. What you see is my senior brother's appearance, which may be a manifestation of a different species."

"Why not just install an infrared thermal imager on the door? The body temperature of alien species differs from that of humans, so it will be easy to tell at a glance."

"I'm just reminding you to be more cautious."

As soon as Fang Ling entered, he saw Yan Shi looking helpless.

"Are you so unwelcoming to me? That's really hurting my senior brother's feelings."

"It's not because of you, it's because I'm being childish."

“Master came over a couple of days ago, so maybe we can spend the New Year together.”

"Did Master encounter the one who was chasing him?"

"How did you know? I even chatted with her for a while and heard her talk about her ill-fated relationship with her master."

"I have a feeling that Master will no longer have to hide from us."

"I'm really afraid that if Ding Xiang acts impulsively, Master will be reincarnated."

"Don't let Master's appearance fool you, he's quite agile. If he doesn't want to, no one can easily get close to him."

Neither of them wanted to get too involved in their master's affairs, so they exchanged a few casual words before getting back to the main topic.

"I've come to ask you for a favor." Fang Ling was embarrassed for the first time, and Yan Shi wanted to take a picture of it and keep it as a keepsake.

"explain."

"Could you help me check my marriage prospects? I recently met a girl."

"You like that girl." Yan Shi understood instantly.

"She is different from others."

"If you like someone, go for it. Why worry about fate? Even if it doesn't work out in the end, it will still be an unforgettable experience."

As Yan Shi spoke, he laid out his tools; how could he miss such gossip?

"When the Red Phoenix Star is in motion, good things often come with difficulties."

"Didn't see the results?" Fang Ling frowned.

"No, it's probably because the outcome is still uncertain. But you don't have many opportunities for marriage, so if you don't work harder, you might encounter a suitable match someday."

Although Yan Shi had used his senior brother's name to practice before, he had never seen anything substantial. This time, however, he was surprised to see quite a bit.

"Alright, I understand." Fang Ling wasn't in a good mood because he didn't get the answer he wanted.

"Senior brother, take the initiative. When it comes to marriage, you only have a chance if you take the initiative."

"Okay, I know, stop nagging."

"Call me if you need anything. Girls understand things better than you. With your pitifully little experience, you can't even figure out why people are staring at you like that."

Fang Ling grabbed a banana from the fruit plate on the table, put it in his pocket, and left.

"Hey, I'm cooking dumplings. Have a meal before you go."

Yan Shi was unable to stop him.

"You've already said that about him, how can you possibly stay for dinner?" Zhuang Zhao brought over the cooked dumplings.

"I didn't say anything."

"It's practically saying he can't win over that girl."

"That sounds pretty harsh. I'll rephrase it next time. Speaking of which, with Senior Brother here, doesn't that mean that girl is very likely from District Seven?" Yan Shi raised an eyebrow, his face full of amusement.

"Didn't you see what the girl looked like?"

Yan Shi shook his head.

"But when I saw that she was carrying a machete, I thought it was interesting. My senior brother developed a fear of girls because Ding Xiang chased after our master with a knife, but now the girl he likes is holding a machete. Isn't this a destined marriage?"

"Yeah, right," Zhuang Zhao replied dismissively.

There's no such thing as a predestined marriage. He doesn't believe in that. If you like someone, why not pursue them? Are you just going to sit at home and wait for fate to come knocking? If you win them over but don't maintain the relationship, and they become disheartened, are you going to wait for fate to automatically fix itself? What a joke.

There are quite a lot of people in District 7. Even if you know the characteristic of the weapon being a machete, it won't be easy to find that girl. You can only hope for fate.

On the eve of the Lunar New Year, the family of three ate dumplings, watched the Spring Festival Gala, and stayed up all night amidst the sound of firecrackers to welcome the new year.

Then, early in the morning, Yan Shi, who was awakened by the sound of firecrackers, tried his best to suppress his temper. He couldn't get angry on the first day of the Lunar New Year, because if he got angry today, he would be angry all year round.

I was in a bad mood because I didn't sleep well. There was a lot of banging and crashing outside. It started around 3 a.m. Just when I was about to fall asleep, there was another round of crackling and popping.

"My only thought right now is that the world should be destroyed immediately, and no one should live," Yan Shi said defiantly.

“I can release the zombies that Kui Mei is raising.” Zhuang Zhao hugged Yan Shi from behind, resting his chin on Yan Shi’s shoulder.

"Kui Mei even raises zombies, isn't she afraid they'll escape?"

"If he ran out without his permission, he'd just be a pile of corpses."

"That's true. The Kui Mei is probably the alien species that lives most peacefully with humans."

"It's likely that someone is keeping them in places we don't know about."

"Of course there is. Humans want to control everything. We don't know what the future holds for humans and zombies. We can't just stay in this stalemate forever."

"No, once the internal conflicts among humans are resolved, it will be the zombies' turn."

"I heard that the pro-station and pro-peace factions are locked in a stalemate."

"It has nothing to do with us, do whatever you want."

"It's not that it doesn't matter, but we can't really decide anything. As long as we can't find a way to overcome the zombie virus, we can't completely eliminate the zombies."
