Chapter Seventy-Two: Zhuang Zhao's Family

Yan Shi found it absurd and let his imagination run wild, conjuring up all sorts of possibilities. Apart from the fact that Zhuang Zhao was not Zhuang's mother's biological son, the other guesses seemed to be untenable.

But Zhuang Zhao's brother's attitude was alright, and he didn't seem to have any grudge against him.

"Don't overthink it, I'll explain later." Zhuang Zhao could tell that Yan Shi was lost in thought again after a long silence.

Yan Shi nodded obediently.

Zhuang Zhao chatted with his father for a few minutes before leaving, but his father asked him to stay for dinner.

"No need, our friends are waiting for us. You and Mom take care of yourselves. Call me if anything happens, although I may not be able to come back in time."

Zhuang Zhao left behind all the remaining universal currency from the second district.

"Take care of yourself. Dad is incompetent and can't help you."

"I'm fine, you don't need to blame yourselves. You've provided me with plenty of food and clothing, and you've raised me well."

Goodbye, Uncle.

Yan Shi didn't dare to say a word, and reluctantly followed Zhuang Zhao by holding his hand.

"Sorry, I was walking too fast."

"It's okay, let's go get some ice cream to change our mood."

Zhuang Zhao nodded.

While eating ice cream, Zhuang Zhao told Yan Shi about his family situation.

Everyone thought I had been kidnapped by human traffickers, so they all went out to look for me. Later, they found me crying loudly after I had just woken up in the green belt. My mom didn’t recognize me and said I wasn’t her child. It caused quite a big fuss, and it became a situation where it was either her or me. Then I was sent to my grandma’s house in the countryside. After my grandma passed away, I was sent to a boarding school. Later, I lived in a dormitory during high school. I counted that I hadn’t spent more than a few days at home.”
