Chapter Seventy-Two: Zhuang Zhao's Family

"The representatives from District Two are coming with us; we'll have to wait a few days for them," Si Yue told everyone, informing them to arrange their own time.

“Perfect timing, let’s go to Chu Jing’s offline meet-and-greet tomorrow.”

Who is Chu Jing?

"The male celebrities she likes."

"Don't just like other people. Can't you give me your extra affections?" Si Yue asked, frowning.

Yan Shi: This child's mental age seems to be stuck at six years old, no more than that.

"You're everywhere."

Who does Zone Two represent?

"Su Ke's girlfriend."

"Isn't Su Ke a woman?"

"Yeah, but he doesn't even have a girlfriend yet."

So who's her girlfriend?

"The violent loli—Xiong Kexin, is someone Jiang Liuer knows."

"The only girl in our class who spent all her extracurricular activities on improving her fighting skills. She's only 1.56 meters tall. It's said that because she's never been able to fight, her dad enrolled her in a taekwondo class. She enjoyed it so much that she signed up for every class on that street. If she didn't have enough money, she would go to competitions. If there were no competitions, she would challenge people to fights. Her reputation as a violent loli was known for miles around."

"I never expected these two to be a couple."

Yan Shi was extremely interested and looked forward to meeting him.

Chu Jing Meet and Greet

There were more people than I expected, and it felt chaotic, probably because the management wasn't as efficient as before the apocalypse.

It was quite different from the fan meeting Yan Shi had imagined; it was more like a book signing event.

Chu Jing sat behind a table, on which were colorful origami and folded paper cranes. A man stood beside her, but she couldn't tell if he was her assistant or her manager.

The crooked line moved slowly, and the number of origami cranes on the table dwindled, while the number of picture books on the other side remained the same.

It was Yan Shi's turn.

"I really like your paintings. Thank you for creating and sharing them." Yan Shi handed over the art collection.

Chu Jing looked up at her, signed his name on the first page of her art book, and added two words: "Thank you."

"I also really like your performance on variety shows. Be yourself, and other people's opinions are not that important."

Chu Jing is several years younger than Yan Shi. In real life, he feels like a younger brother to Chu Jing, and he always wants to give him some advice.

"Would you like to take a photo together?"

"Thank you, but no need. My boyfriend would be jealous."

"This is for you, wishing you a long and happy life together." Chu Jing pulled out a pair of support keychains from the drawer. They were shaped like little whales and were very cute.

Yan Shi ran to find Zhuang Zhao, who was waiting for her on the side, carrying the art collection, and even showed him her keychain.

"No one else got one, but they gave you one too."

"He's such a good kid, but I always feel a little sorry for him."

You see everyone as pitiful.

"Absolutely, I always feel like they're not free."

"You're just soft-hearted and sentimental. A smoothie will do the trick."

"That suits my taste perfectly, let's go."

"Zhuang Zhao?"

Yan Shi turned around and saw a man in his twenties or thirties staring at Zhuang Zhao. He must know Zhuang Zhao, but Zhuang Zhao did not turn around.

So Yan Shi pulled him along.

Zhuang Zhao turned to look at Yan Shi, who gave him a look that told him to look behind him.

"Brother." Zhuang Zhao called out, and Yan Shi's pupils dilated in shock.

"You're still alive... You seem to be doing quite well. Why haven't you contacted your family?"

Yan Shi: This sounds like you're still family? Zhuang Zhao never mentioned it. Are you not on good terms?

"It doesn't matter, Mom and Dad are here."

"Yeah, we were lucky; we escaped by hiding inside the house."

"Could you bring me some things? I won't go see them."

"Go back and visit Mom, I miss you."

Zhuang Zhao looked at Yan Shi and saw that she looked confused, which was quite cute.

"Could you come with me to meet my parents?"

"Sure." She was nervous and curious, but not uneasy. Judging from Zhuang Zhao's relationship with her family, it wouldn't matter whether her family liked her or not.

“Let’s go then,” Zhuang Zhao replied to his brother.

"Hello, my name is Zhuang Yao, and I am Zhuang Zhao's older brother."

"Yan Shi, his girlfriend."

When did you meet him? After the apocalypse? Or were you already together before?

"After the apocalypse".

"Xiao Zhao is aloof and tends to keep things to herself, but she's not a bad person. Please be understanding."

"Mutual tolerance and mutual understanding."

They bought fruits, snacks, vegetables, meat, cooked food, milk, calcium tablets, and other items, carrying a full load as they visited.

Zhuang Zhao didn't forget to greet Yan Shi.

“My mom doesn’t like me much, so we just go to see her. If she says something unpleasant, just pretend you didn’t hear it and don’t take it to heart.”

"We'll just meet once; we won't be living together afterward."

"I'm not that sensitive," Yan Shi joked.

After taking the bus and changing buses, I learned from our conversation that Zhuang Yao's wife had asked him to come and buy storybooks for their baby. The bookstore was right next to Chu Jing's.

Yan Shi: It was a coincidence, otherwise we would have missed each other, and the chances of meeting again would definitely not have been high.

Zhuang Yao took out the key and opened the door.

"I'm back, Mom, Dad, look who I brought home."

"Xiao Zhao! Where have you been? Are you hurt?"

"I'm fine, this is my girlfriend."

Hello, Uncle.

"Alright, come in and sit down. Chunying, Xiao Zhao has brought his girlfriend back."

"You guys chat first, I'll go check on Xinru." Zhuang Yao carried the things to the kitchen doorway.

Zhuang Zhaola sat down on the sofa, and Zhuang's father poured water, behaving like a host.

Yan Shi felt awkward, so he held Zhuang Zhao's hand to ease the embarrassment.

Zhuang Zhao's mother didn't come out. It was unclear whether she was asleep and didn't hear Zhuang Zhao's father's words, or whether she didn't want to see Zhuang Zhao.
