The mutants seem to have gone into hiding. There's no way to deduce their movement routes based on where they appear. A day is enough time for people to kill all the zombies in the safe zone. When Yan Shi went to collect her wages after the killing was over, she saw a boy who looked a bit like the one who warned her on the street that day.
Yan Shi pointed at the man and asked Bu Ke about him.
"I don't know him, but he's surrounded by hunters, so he must be a hunter too."
"I thought you warlocks all knew each other."
"Warlocks all know each other, even if they're not close, they've heard of each other, since there are only a few schools, but he's not a warlock."
"If it's not a sorcerer, then could it be an alien?" Yan Shi suddenly became hopeful. After more than two months of stumbling and struggling, she hadn't seen a single one of her kind.
"I don't know. Hunters don't just hunt zombies; they also have logistical support. Besides, there are many powerful ordinary people as well."
"Honestly, with his build, it's hard to believe he's the kind of ordinary person who can fight so well." Yan Shi was already inclined to think he was an alien. While waiting in line, he stared intently at the man, mentally rehearsing how to strike up a conversation.
Just as it was time for her to settle her bill, the other person left first. Yan Shi was so angry that she stomped her feet and muttered, "We were destined to meet but not to be together."
Most people thought the aliens had left and the crisis was over, but in just one night, the aliens created hundreds of zombies in various places. These hundreds of zombies then attacked other people, and the scope of the impact was unimaginable.
As dawn broke, the outer area was almost completely overrun. Survivors were trapped in their homes, unable to move forward or backward. If no one came to their rescue, they would starve to death even if zombies broke down the doors.
The hunters and warlocks were also helpless. They were scattered, and while they could protect themselves, it was quite difficult for them to break through the encirclement.
Yan Shi wasn't afraid of that, and now he didn't need to hide anything. He alternated between the laser knife, which hadn't been returned yet, and the black hole in his left hand, sweeping away a group of zombies.
Chuan Kong still remembered collecting the zombie heads and dragging the large bag to find Bu Qing and his sister.
They encountered other hunters along the way. Seeing that Yan Shi was too fierce, they took the initiative to recruit her to join them. Yan Shi didn't mind, mainly because she saw a boy who interested her.
"Are you the one who alerted me when the alarm went off?" Yan Shi leaned closer, and before he even got close, he could smell a very pleasant scent.
Yan Shi suddenly felt ashamed. She was probably covered in the smell of zombies, but since the street was full of that smell, it wasn't too noticeable. If she got too close, she would definitely be able to smell it.
Yan Shi quickly stopped and stood two steps away, waiting for the boy to answer.
The boy nodded. He seemed a bit introverted, and it was quite admirable that he noticed her confusion and took the initiative to help her.
"Thank you for that day. I was new here and didn't know what the alarm meant."
"You're so capable, nothing would have happened even if I hadn't told you."
"Not necessarily. Since you're from the hunter team, are you an alien or a warlock?"
"I'm just an ordinary person, but the zombies don't seem to like me. Even if I get bitten, I won't turn into a zombie."
Yan Shi caught the hint of pride in his voice, and the corners of her mouth that had just curved upwards immediately fell back down. What to do? He's so cute.
“That’s pretty much like me. Zombies don’t like me either, and I won’t turn into a zombie if I get bitten.” Even if he wasn’t an alien, Yan Shi felt very close to him, but he didn’t feel the same way about Bu Qing and Bu Ke.
Is it because he looks dull, clumsy, and weak?
Perhaps this kind of person is even more dangerous; they pretend to be weak to take advantage of others, deliberately lowering their guard before striking.
Their random thoughts didn't stop them from having a pleasant conversation. Yan Shi was the one asking most of the questions, and the others were getting impatient watching them chat.
Before long, they arrived near Bu Qing's house. Yan Shi greeted them and left the group to find Bu Qing and her brother, but after taking a few steps, he remembered something and turned back.
"My name is Yan Shi. Yan is the 'Yan' in 'Yanzi sent to Chu,' and Shi is the 'Shi' in 'time.' Here's my phone number. Contact me if you need anything." Yan Shi casually plucked a blade of grass, wrote her phone number on it, and handed it to him.
We've been chatting for ages and I still haven't asked your name, that's really something.
"Zhuang Zhao." The boy reached out and wrote the two words in Yan Shi's palm.
Yan Shi clenched his fist, and inexplicably felt that his palms would keep itching.
See you later.
Just then, Bu Qing and Bu Ke went out. Bu Ke, with her sharp eyes, turned around and saw Yan Shi. She called out and ran towards her, while Bu Qing followed behind Bu Ke at a leisurely pace.
Yan Shi was busy replying to Bu Ke, and when he turned around, Zhuang Zhao had already walked far away.
What were those two words I wrote on my palm just now? I forgot them as soon as I turned my head, and it's not easy to chase after them and ask them now that I'm so far away.
“I knew my sister would come looking for us. Have you had breakfast? We saved a few of the steamed buns for her.”
With the still-warm vegetable bun in my mouth, I was still racking my brain trying to figure out what those two words meant.
"Sister, wasn't that the guy you asked me about last time? You know him?"
"Hmm, but I don't remember the name."
From the frustrated tone in her voice, Bu Ke knew that her brother's chances were completely over.
"The name doesn't matter, as long as you know which team they're on."
"have no idea."
"So what did you talk about?"
"Thoughts on zombies and what they like to eat."
"As expected of you. What's in that bag?"
"Brain".
"But we no longer buy heads."
"Where should we throw it?"
"Whatever."
Yan Shi glanced at the head that had been dragged along, then looked around, and simply swallowed it all with the black hole. He then picked up the pebbles that had fallen to the ground and put them in his pocket.
Sangzhi didn't say what the pebble was at the time, but suggested that she keep it and study it later.
Sangzhi didn't deliberately avoid it, and Bu Qing and his sister didn't ask any questions. Everyone understood each other implicitly; they were just strangers who had met by chance, so it wasn't appropriate to ask too many questions.
