As expected, the others did not believe what the two said.
This is normal, since they haven't seen the alien species either.
"Okay, you can go find the door to the third level first, and look for the key while you're at it. When the time comes, just see if the door opens or not."
"Neither of us is entirely sure, but there's no going back. If what we've heard is true, no one can leave until the door is opened."
"Make yourselves at home, we'll go look in the rooms upstairs."
Yan Shi roughly counted, and it seemed that several more people were missing. If something happened in this level, they would either be eaten or turn into zombies. They were really risking their lives. He didn't know why these people came to try it out.
Some others: Do you think we wanted to come here? We were arrested.
Another group of people: They just want excitement and thrills!
The remaining few: those who complete the game receive generous rewards; in the apocalypse, there are no lotteries, only death playgrounds.
Some people took action, some were skeptical and decided to wait and see how others reacted, and some clearly didn't believe it and went to find a place to rest.
Ignoring their concerns, the two went upstairs and released the zombies from each room. The zombies passed right through them and headed straight downstairs.
The two then moved freely among the zombies, sweeping through each room, trying to guess where the key might be.
"Isn't this a bit inappropriate?" Yan Shi felt a little guilty, as if he was shifting the blame and harming others for his own benefit.
"There's nothing wrong with it. Nobody can get through without the key. It's everyone's responsibility." Zhuang Zhao didn't care about morality. Even if Yan Shi had killed someone today, he would have found a reasonable excuse for her.
"I think they're pretty good. If they work together, they can definitely kill that alien."
"I'm afraid someone will shoot me in the back, like the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole."
"Yes, who would dare to trust someone at a time like this, let alone a stranger?"
"Just trust me, no one else needs to."
"Hehe, here's a little heart for you." Yan Shi blew a kiss over to him.
"So, the Commander of the Imperial Guard just let you in like that, without mentioning any unequal treaties?"
"No, don't worry about him too much. I have something on him."
"What leverage?"
"It's not convenient to talk about it here. You'll find out when you go out."
"Okay, let's focus on finding the key now. I think it's quite fun. There's a sense of satisfaction when you push your limits, and the key-finding part is similar to an escape room. I've been wanting to play it for a while now."
Perhaps because Zhuang Zhao was by his side, Yan Shi relaxed completely.
"That's actually quite good. I was terrified watching from outside. Some of them have sharp spikes at the bottom. If you fell in, you'd be riddled with holes."
"I didn't even notice." Yan Shi was still scared. She was a little afraid of heights and basically didn't dare to look down. It wasn't until she was seriously injured in the trap maze that she realized death was always approaching.
"I was thinking at the time, if something really happened to you, I would definitely regret not being there with you."
"It was my recklessness that made you worry."
"I've been worried for so long, and all you've done is offer verbal comfort."
"This... what kind of comfort do you want?" Yan Shi was completely taken aback. His words were so suggestive and imaginative that they gave one the feeling of closing the door, getting into a car, and getting ready to drive.
"Go back and kiss me. I feel like I've aged several years in just a moment. I need to be nourished by love and stay young."
Yan Shi: What's wrong with me today? Have I been possessed by the cheesy god of war? But to be honest, I'm actually hungry, so hungry that I'm hallucinating. Looking at his chubby little mouth, I really want to take a bite.
No, you have to hold on. This isn't home. We're out there, and there might be two perverts watching us.
"I agree. I will choose you as my concubine when we get back."
"Your Majesty, I thank you for your great kindness."
After searching the second floor without finding the key, the two went up to the third floor.
There were no zombies on the third floor, and it was quiet and peaceful, but it felt strangely oppressive. The two of them stopped talking and quickly searched around before heading to the fourth floor.
The fourth floor is an attic, not very big, but with excellent natural light. It has bookshelves, a rocking horse, a toy car for children, and a child's bed—all things for children.
Yan Shizhao was agitated, much like when he gets angry when he can't find something.
"It's too difficult to search like this. It must be in a rather unusual place. He should have given us a clue. Let's go back to that room and see if we missed anything."
"If it's unusual, do you think the zombie in that room could be hiding there? I think that's a possibility."
"Possibly."
The two went back to the room on the second floor, turned on the light, and searched the room thoroughly. They actually found a note under the bed.
"The key is somewhere you can definitely see it," Yan Shi read aloud from the note.
“It’s definitely visible. It wasn’t deliberately hidden. We can rule out places that are out of sight.”
"I feel like it's referring to zombies, since this level is related to zombies."
"The zombies are all downstairs, right? Let's go downstairs and take a look; maybe someone has already found them."
"By the way, we still haven't found the door to the third level. It might be on the first floor too."
"If they're both on the first floor, then we've both been running up and down for nothing."
"Well, there's nothing I can do about it. Do you have any food left?"
"There's also a sausage."
"I have two apples, let's eat them before we go downstairs." It doesn't matter if we find the key or not, we absolutely have to eat them secretly.
"You eat, I'm not hungry."
"Giving each other half is my biggest concession. You're making me seem selfish." Yan Shi stuffed an apple into Zhuang Zhao's hand, and after Zhuang Zhao put the sausage in her hand, she cut the sausage in half and gave half back to Zhuang Zhao.
