Chapter 3 Recording Pen

Wang Kai walked away arrogantly. Lin Chen looked at the two hundred yuan bill in his hand and thought to himself, "Having lived two lives, I never knew making money felt so good. I must steadfastly continue down this path of making money in this lifetime."

Making money is fun for a while, and making money all the time is even more fun.

After tidying up his textbooks and homework, Lin Chen rode his bicycle home with Fatty Wang.

The two lived in the same neighborhood. This was an apartment that his mother had been allocated by the hospital. Wang Pangzi's mother and his mother were nurses at the same hospital, so he and Wang Pangzi were best friends who had grown up together.

Speaking of which, this neighborhood is about to be demolished, right? It seems like it happened right after my college entrance exam. But at that time, something big happened to Lin Chen's family, something that was enough to change the fate of Lin Chen's entire family.

Lin Chen's father works in the bank's loan department. He failed to meet his loan targets for the first half of the year, so he has been accompanying his boss to visit clients every day, and he comes home drunk every day.

The day after the demolition notice was issued, while the whole family was immersed in a joyous atmosphere, someone knocked on the door. When they opened the door, it turned out to be court personnel who showed their work ID and the execution document for "Compulsory Auction of House".

My parents were stunned. In the end, the court explained that a business owner had defaulted on a bank loan and absconded, and the guarantor on the bank loan documents was actually my father, Lin Zhiyuan.

With sufficient evidence, the house was auctioned off, and all the money went to the bank. Lin Chen's family had to move back to their old house in the countryside. His father lost his job at the bank, and in the end, he managed to get a job as a security guard at the hospital through his mother's connections.

Lin Chen felt a chill run down his spine when he thought about these things. Now that he had been reborn, he certainly couldn't let these tragedies repeat themselves.

Actually, Lin Chen had been drinking with Lao Lin once after graduating from university. Lao Lin, drunk, said that back then, it was his bastard boss who tricked him into signing the documents while he was drunk in order to complete the loan task.

Lin Chen clearly remembered that the loan document used as evidence was signed on May 8th. He glanced at his digital watch; today was May 7th, which meant tomorrow.

Immediately, Lin Chen braced himself with one foot, and the bicycle swung wildly. While pedaling hard, he shouted to Fatty Wang without turning his head, "Fatty, you go back first, I'm going to buy something."

Lin Chen rode his bicycle to the digital mall. Before it closed, he spent 150 yuan to buy a voice recorder. After testing the sound quality, which was acceptable, he went home.

When I got home, my parents weren't home as expected. On the table was dinner that my mom had brought back from the hospital, along with a note that read: "Son, Mom is on night shift. You'll have to eat dinner by yourself."

As for Lao Lin, without a doubt, he's probably out drinking with the leaders right now.

Sure enough, Lao Lin didn't come back until 11 p.m. Usually, Lin Chen would be asleep by then, but today he had something he had to do, so he sat in the living room waiting for Lao Lin.

Old Lin, drunk, opened the door and turned on the living room light with a snap. Suddenly, he saw someone sitting in the living room, which startled him sobered him up considerably.

"Hey kid, what are you doing sitting in the living room in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?"

"Old Lin, I need to talk to you about something very serious."

"What trouble have you gotten yourself into?"

"No trouble was caused."

Did you fail the mock exam?

"The exam hasn't even started yet. Oh dear, don't interrupt me, it's really important!"

"Okay, okay, you tell me."

Lin Chen took out a voice recorder and handed it to Lao Lin: "Lao Lin, you must remember this: from the time you go to work tomorrow until you come back after drinking tonight, this voice recorder must be kept on."

"You brat, what nonsense are you talking about? Why would I bring a voice recorder to work?"

"Old Lin, I'm not kidding you. If I find out you didn't turn on your recorder tomorrow night, I'll hand in a blank exam paper."

"Are you asking for a beating?!"

Lin Chen looked at Old Lin and said, word by word, "I, didn't, joke."

After saying that, he went back to his room to sleep.

Lin Zhiyuan cursed "brat" and went to sleep.

When Lin Zhiyuan woke up the next morning, he was stunned to see the breakfast that Lin Chen had made for him in the living room. This was the first time in eighteen years that Lin Chen had made him breakfast, even though it was just a bowl of instant noodles.

While eating, he thought about what Lin Chen had said yesterday. It was a bit inexplicable, but he was really afraid that the kid would hand in a blank paper for the college entrance exam. Anyway, he could just put the recording pen in his pocket and no one would know. So he turned on the recording pen and put it in his pocket.

At this moment, Lin Chen was already sitting in the classroom, but his thoughts were all on his father, Lin Lao. Based on his understanding of Lin Lao, he knew that with the threats last night and the instant noodles this morning, Lin Lao would definitely do as he said. That's right, it was that easy to manipulate him. After all, Lin Chen was the only son in three generations of the Lin family.

However, besides evidence, you also need to hire a lawyer to go to court. I only have fifty yuan left in my pocket from yesterday's money, which is not enough to hire a lawyer.

"Hey fat guy, do you know any lawyers? Preferably the kind that don't charge fees."

"Brother Chen, are you crazy? Lawyers really don't charge fees? Would you dare to use one? Aren't you afraid the court will award you double the amount?"

Lin Chen nodded, agreeing with what he said.

"Chen Yue's dad is a lawyer, you can ask her for help. Oh... I almost forgot, you two broke up yesterday."

"Break up??? We were never even together."

Lin Chen was frustrated. Asking Shen Yue for help was less appealing than killing him with a single sword strike.

After class, Lin Chen excitedly ran to the next class to find Shen Yue.

"Chen Yue, I was wrong yesterday, and I apologize to you."
