Chapter 4: What if there is evidence?

"Dad, Mom, I'm home," Shen Yue called out as she opened the door.

Shen's parents were happy to hear that their daughter had returned, but when they saw a boy following behind her, their eyes immediately filled with doubt.

Shen Yue quickly explained, "Dad, this is my classmate Lin Chen. He has some legal matters he'd like to ask you about."

"Hello, Uncle, hello, Auntie, I'm Lin Chen, sorry to bother you."

"Oh, it's nothing, please come in, classmate."

After Lin Chen entered the house, he sat down on the sofa. Chen's mother warmly poured him a cup of hot tea. She thought to herself, "This young man is quite handsome, but I wonder how he is doing in his studies and what his family situation is like. I'll find an opportunity to ask him later."

Shen's father was thinking to himself, "Holy crap, whose pig is this? How dare he try to steal my little cabbage? He even came to my door to steal her! My seven wolves are already itching for a fight."

Lin Chen accepted the hot tea, thanked them, completely unaware of the inner thoughts of the two.

Dad took the initiative to ask, "Classmate, feel free to ask me any questions you may have. This is the first time Yueyue has brought a male classmate home."

Lin Chen pretended not to understand the jealousy in Shen's father's tone and simply recounted the events.

When Mr. Chen heard that this was a serious matter, he also became serious. After listening to Lin Chen's explanation, he frowned and said, "Debt disputes with banks are quite troublesome. Banks won't spend time and energy investigating who the real mastermind is; they will only pursue the guarantor in the contract for accountability."

At this moment, Shen's mother also came over. Shen's mother works at the court, and her profession is similar to that of Shen's father: "Yes, we often encounter these kinds of contract disputes involving guarantors. Generally, the contract prevails, since a signed guarantee still has a certain legal effect, unless there is other evidence to show that the signatory was not in a sound mind or was interfered with by external factors such as threats, inducements, or intimidation."

Lin Chen nodded, then suddenly asked, "What if there's evidence?"

...

Finally, Lin Chen stayed at Shen Yue's house for dinner before leaving. During the meal, Shen Yue's mother asked Lin Chen how many people were in his family and how many acres of land he owned.

After returning home, Lin Chen waited for Lao Lin to come back. The voice recorder on the table was missing, so Lao Lin should be able to bring back evidence today.

At eleven o'clock, Lao Lin came back. He almost tripped and fell when he entered the door. It seemed that he had drunk quite a lot. Lin Chen went over to help Lao Lin and helped him sit down on the sofa.

"Old Lin, Old Lin." Lin Chen nudged Old Lin twice and found that Old Lin had already fallen into a deep sleep.

After searching Old Lin's body, Lin Chen found a voice recorder with one bar of battery left in his pants pocket. Seeing that it was still on, Lin Chen breathed a sigh of relief.

He patted Lao Lin on the shoulder and said, "Lao Lin, get up and go to bed. I can't lift you up."

But after filming for two minutes, Old Lin still didn't react. Lin Chen realized something was wrong and took out Old Lin's phone to call his mother.

"Hey, you actually remembered to call me when you got home today. Old Lin, you've finally had a change of heart."

"Cough cough, Mom, it's your son Xiaolin. Dad's condition isn't right. I can't wake him up no matter what I do. Should we take him to the hospital to have his stomach pumped?"

"Son, don't panic. I'll call an ambulance from the hospital right away."

In less than ten minutes, the ambulance arrived. My mother came back with the ambulance, her eyes red. The doctor and driver lifted Mr. Lin into the ambulance and did a simple check-up.

"It's nothing serious, probably just from drinking too much. A stomach pump will do the trick."

Lin Chen, who came with the ambulance, suddenly remembered something and said to the doctor, "Doctor, please draw some blood for my dad to test. He seems to have taken some kind of medicine after he came back. I'm afraid he took cephalosporin."

Mom immediately got anxious: "You brat, why didn't you say so sooner?"

Upon hearing this, the driver immediately stepped on the gas pedal even harder.

After arriving at the hospital, I had blood drawn, tests done, and my stomach pumped. The ordeal lasted until almost dawn.

Lin Chen waited at the entrance of the laboratory, listening to the recording on his recorder at double speed, and glancing at the self-service examination form printer every ten minutes.

When he saw the blood test results clearly stating "lysergic acid diethylamide," his eyes narrowed. "Good, good, so this is how you play it? If you don't let that damn leader go in and pick up the soap, he'll have wasted his reborn identity."

Lin Chen carefully put away the test report, then ran to the front desk of the laboratory and said to the female doctor on duty, "Sister, the self-service printer is broken and can't print anything. Could you print one for me?" He then handed over Old Lin's blood test receipt.

"That broken machine keeps breaking down. Here, little brother." The doctor reprinted another blood test report for Lin Chen.

Lin Chen dozed off for a while in the nurses' on-call room. When it was time, his mother woke him up, and he went to the hospital cafeteria for breakfast before heading to school.

After school, Lin Chen went to the next class to find Shen Yue to go home together. He had already listened to the entire recording today and had evidence in hand. He wanted to consult Shen's father in more detail.

Amidst the strange looks from the entire class, Lin Chen left with a blushing Shen Yue.

Lin Chen showed the recording and blood test results to Shen's parents. Shen's father said bluntly, "If we send these two pieces of evidence over, we don't even need to go to court. Just call the police and let them file a public prosecution. This already involves illegal and criminal activities."

Ms. Shen also said, "Yes, the case is already very clear. Let's just call the police."

Lin Chen finally felt relieved. He planned to go to the hospital that night to discuss with his mother and father before calling the police. So, he ate another meal at Shen Yue's house.

After this incident, Mrs. Shen became increasingly satisfied with Lin Chen. At his age, he handled things with remarkable maturity and composure, surpassing most of his peers in this regard. Mr. Shen, on the other hand, grew more and more wary of Lin Chen, fearing that his beloved daughter, whom he had painstakingly raised for eighteen years, would be abducted.

After finishing his meal, Lin Chen went directly to the hospital, called his mother to his ward, took out his voice recorder and blood test results, and told her the results of his consultation with Mr. and Mrs. Chen.

Old Lin suddenly said, "I was wondering why Wu Kangkang came to see me this morning and specifically asked if I had a blood test. So that's why. That scoundrel Wu Kangkang, I'll kill him!"

After discussing it, the three of them immediately called the police. The police arrived quickly, and after understanding the situation, they took a statement from Mr. Lin at the hospital.

After the police left, Lin Chen's mother urged him to go home and rest. Before leaving, Lin Chen turned around and smiled at his mother, saying, "Old Lin, if your company's leaders come to see you, you must mention that a TV station wants to interview you."

Old Lin understood immediately, revealing a sly look in his eyes, and chuckled.
