Chapter 161 Sealed Memories (2)

The girl changed her tune: "Oh, you're an orphan?"

The girl remained silent.

The girl grew impatient and simply picked her up and took her to the police station.

The girl struggled in her grasp, trying to escape, but the woman was too strong and held her firmly in place.

Seeing the girl fidgeting, the girl simply slapped her on the bottom: "Behave yourself."

"If you behave, I'll give you candy."

Upon hearing this, the girl's empty, lifeless eyes suddenly lit up a little: "Will you give me something to eat?"

Although she didn't know what sugar was, she was fine with anything that was edible.

The girl's rare outburst was because of the candy.

The girl paused for a moment, then burst into laughter: "So you're a foodie too?"

Seeing that the girl was indeed obedient and no longer struggling, the young woman frowned slightly.

"Go with them if they have food. Hey, you haven't been kidnapped, have you?"

The girl didn't know what human trafficking was.

Thinking that the other person would give her food, she answered coldly and mechanically, "I'm very hungry. I'm willing to make anything that's edible."

Upon hearing the girl's answer, the young woman teased, "How hungry are you?"

"I'm very hungry."

"How long has it been since you last ate?"

"have no idea."

"Then what do you know?"

"All I know is that sandwiches are delicious."

"Oh, you like sandwiches?"

"tasty."

"Oh, I get it, as long as it tastes good?"

"Um."

With just a few words, the young girl had already figured out the girl's speaking habits.

She handed the girl over to the police station for investigation, and the final result was that the girl was an unregistered orphan without an identity or name.

The police quickly contacted the orphanage, completed the necessary procedures, and sent her to the orphanage.

In the orphanage, she lived a life with clothes to wear and food to eat, and no longer had to secretly scavenge for garbage and be beaten by the adults.

She treasured the coat, placing it on her small bed and not letting anyone touch it.

If anyone touches her coat, she'll bar her teeth and chase away the "bad guys" like a little wild animal guarding its food.

Because of her aloofness and coldness, many people are unwilling to get close to her, fearing that they will be hurt by her coldness.

She was like a helpless person, isolating herself from the crowd and protecting herself with a body full of cold thorns.

But there are always other children in the orphanage who, because of similar experiences, are willing to lend a helping hand to the newcomer and patiently help her get acquainted with the orphanage.

At first, she kept her distance, not wanting to get close to them, nor did she want them to get close to her.

Later, with their persistent efforts, the girl, who experienced kindness for the second time, gradually lowered her guard, tried to remove the first thorn in her heart, and began to accept her companions.

...

She spent a year in the orphanage, met many people, and became friends with those around her. Much of her "cold thorns" have been removed.

Until one night.

The orphanage was ransacked.

Those fearless antisocial individuals, seeking thrills, stormed into the orphanage in broad daylight with knives and attacked people indiscriminately.

At this moment, the sun was shining brightly, and the sky was cloudless. Under the scorching sun, the orphanage was covered with bloodstains and smelled of blood.

The thugs' laughter mingled with the children's cries, filling the entire orphanage.

With a swift movement, the knife fell, and blood splattered everywhere.

Endless wails and rampant laughter, like a violin relentlessly playing a melody of despair and madness.

The orphanage was thrown into chaos, with the ground littered with debris.

Using her childhood habits and keen observation, the girl quickly found a suitable hiding place and hid.

She hid in a corner, watching everything indifferently, knowing she didn't have the power to save them.

But she prayed in her heart, hoping that someone would come to save them.

Just as she closed her eyes to pray, a masked thug grabbed the short-legged boy, slashed his face with a knife, and shouted arrogantly, "Scream! Keep screaming! Louder! Not enough!"

The thugs thoroughly enjoyed their screams and pleas for mercy.

The girl tried her best to control her lips, preventing herself from making a sound.

The boy who was being lifted up seemed to see her and cried out to her desperately, "Please... save me."

The moment the girl saw the boy, a surge of impulse flashed across her face. He was her friend, and she wanted to save him!

But she was powerless to save him.

At this moment, she hated her own incompetence and cowardice.

Incapable of protecting friends.

They dared not step forward to create an opportunity for their companions.

Just as she was wavering, another scream rang out. She looked towards the scream and saw her deskmate, the first friend to lend her a helping hand and introduce her to the orphanage.

Seeing the knife about to plunge into her classmate's stomach, the girl's wavering heart was ultimately overcome by her feelings.

She bit her lip, rushed out from the corner, and bit the assailant's leg!

The thug, who had been bitten on the calf, angrily shook her off.

Seeing that she dared to do something reckless, the assailant dropped the other girl he was holding and went straight for her.

The thug's fierce gaze intimidated her, and she was so frightened that her legs went weak and she couldn't stand up.

As death loomed, her memories were awakened. She recalled the method she had seen the older girl use in a corner a year ago, and without thinking twice, she recited the exact same incantation.

In an instant, wisps of black mist emerged from her body, rushing straight towards the thug and swallowing him whole in the blink of an eye!

The assailant was swallowed before he could scream and escape.

Not only that, the gluttonous black mist devoured all the thugs present, leaving no trace.

The girl who witnessed this scene looked at her hands in disbelief. She never thought she could protect her companions on her own!
