Side Story 2: Jian Xingzhi

If you can't handle it yourself, call someone over.

It's not a big problem.

Shi Yun was confident that his father could handle this matter well. Although most of the family's influence was overseas, it did not mean that they had not infiltrated the entire country.

Ye Yunzhan was quite confident that his family was wealthy; a wad of cash wouldn't be enough to get these thugs into jail.

snort.

That's the price of a whole truckload.

Anyone who can be beaten by Bao'er is no good.

To outsiders, they are the ultimate sister-complex.

Internally...

My sister is the best scapegoat; she's a professional at taking the blame for them.

Ye Qi took Jian Xingzhi to the hospital and paid his medical bills.

After treating his wounds, Jian Xingzhi lay on the bed, feeling the stinging pain in his back, and recalling his helplessness and despair in the alley.

This was the first time he had ever felt this emotion.

He thought he would be at a loss when he encountered difficult problems in the college entrance examination, and thus rediscovered his passion for the world and his sense of challenge.

Or perhaps it's encountering a thorny problem on the path of endless learning and striving for the highest peak in a particular field, which sparks great interest.

But it definitely doesn't mean being bullied to the point of being powerless to fight back.

A brief explanation for the first year of junior high school.

Still too immature.

I never knew that my ideas could never keep up with the ever-changing world.

He had no idea that his change would come so unexpectedly.

But it surprised him—

He certainly had the opportunity to experience frustration.

This incident, from another perspective, corroborates his hypothetical ideas.

All his ideas were simply a way to experience failure, to stop being numb, and to become someone he hated.

But he was lucky enough.

The price of this opportunity wasn't so insane as to require him to risk his life to fulfill it.

This pain is enough for Jian Xingzhi.

When Jian Xingzhi returned home that evening, he didn't say anything about it, but his brother seemed to have noticed something.

The two tacitly refrained from mentioning the matter.

Jian Xingzhi returned to his room and began to look forward to his tomorrow.

He couldn't explain why he was looking forward to tomorrow.

But he knew there was one reason for it—

His mindset changed secretly without him even realizing it.

The next day, when he went to school as usual, he added Ye Qi on his contact list, returned the medical expenses to her, and expressed his sincerest gratitude.

Ye Qi smiled, her eyes crinkling, and agreed to his thanks, feeling proud of her helpfulness.

The moment Jian Xingzhi saw her face, he couldn't help but start analyzing. He could have turned his head away and continued to numb himself, not thinking too much.

But this time...

He is willing to analyze other people.

He analyzed for less than a few seconds and realized that Ye Qi was happy because she had helped him. He couldn't help but wonder why her happiness was so simple.

then.

Afternoon physical education class.

He stepped out of his usual comfort zone in the shade of the tree and walked towards them, his tone slightly embarrassed:

Can I play with you guys?

Just as Ye Qi said.

They will welcome him.

He entered Ye Qi's circle.

At first, he played with restraint, unable to let go of himself, and he kept in mind the methods his coach taught him, using them as a constraint in an attempt to prove himself.

But no matter what he did, he couldn't beat Ye Qi.

Until one time he couldn't help himself and committed a foul. When he realized what had happened, his face turned pale. This foul was completely out of line with his principles.

But when he heard the sound of the basketball swishing through the basket and heard the praise from others:

"Not bad! That was a beautiful shot!"

"We conceded a goal! Damn it! I'll definitely score next time!"

The last sentence shattered his constraints:

"How was it? Pretty cool, huh?"

Jian Xing was stunned, and couldn't help but recall how he had just jumped up with a basketball in his hand, his eyes full of anticipation and his whole body brimming with passion.

The joy of that moment is indescribable.

In his heart.

As he jumped, he became the most radiant version of himself in his heart.

And so I became a different version of myself.

"..."

"Mmm! That feels great!"

*

He started getting close to Ye Qi and the others. His brother seemed to have found out something as well. One day, when he returned home, his brother asked him if he wanted to go back.

He refused without even thinking.

This surprised Jian Huaijin for a moment, then he smiled with relief:

"Ah Xing, this is the first time you've rejected me."

From childhood, his younger brother was not good at socializing and would not take the initiative to refuse other people's requests, especially his own ideas.

Jian Xingzhi would agree to almost anything he suggested.

Because Jian Xingzhi has no interest in anything, he doesn't care about anything.

But this time, he was rejected.

Jian Huaijin was just about to ask him why when he heard a sound from outside the door:

"Ah Jin! Have you changed your clothes? Come on, let's play ball!"

Shi Banqing's voice came from outside the door, his youthful voice filled with anticipation.

That moment.

Jian Huaijin suddenly didn't want to ask Jian Xingzhi why he stayed.

Because he also wanted to stay here.

They all agreed to stay, tacitly concealing the matter from their parents.

For the first time, she rebelled and hid her secret, refusing to let her parents into her home.

After spending more time with Ye Qi, Jian Xingzhi started talking more than when they first met.

Ye Qi couldn't help but ask him once, "I always feel like you're very tired, like you want to destroy the whole world but don't have the energy to muster up any spirits and you're just feeling world-weary."

Ye Qi propped her head up with her elbow and tilted her head to glance at him.

Jian Xingzhi remained silent for a moment; this was the first time someone had noticed him.
