Side Story 4: Shen Lanque

Shen Lan was indeed a crybaby from a young age.

He can cry and howl for a long time after being punched.

As a result, his personality often worried his mother.

That day, Shen Lan did indeed fall, and tears quickly welled up in his eyes.

He started to feel wronged again.

Seeing this, Mrs. Shen sighed, "Husband, our youngest son is already in the first year of junior high school, and he still cries so much. What should we do?"

Shen's father was a doting father, and he said indifferently, "A-Que is still young. Let the child cry if he wants to."

"..." Mother Shen was once again playing the lute to a cow.

Shen's mother felt this wasn't the right approach, so that very night, she arranged for Shen Lan to attend a Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) class.

It wasn't even two days later.

Shen Lan's eyes were red and swollen from crying.

Covered in wounds, he wiped away his tears haphazardly with his arm and limped back to his room.

Seeing this, Shen's mother felt heartbroken and cancelled her Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) that very night.

Shen Lan returned to her room, applied medicine to herself, and then lay on the bed staring at the ceiling.

He didn't know why he cried so much.

It was still gloomy.

That's why many people dislike him.

I think he's too spoiled and arrogant.

The servants always said he cried like a girl and had no manly qualities.

They always secretly mocked him for being effeminate.

Shen Lan is indeed always patient.

He didn't tell his parents about it.

Because he cried easily, he had no friends growing up, and the double pressure made him increasingly internally drained.

He is the kind of person who cries when he feels wronged.

His mother had taken him to see a psychologist, but it didn't seem to help.

He felt that it made no difference whether he looked at it or not.

Intervention measures were ineffective.

He looked up blankly at the bookshelf in another room, and in the distance, the first thing he saw was his favorite action-adventure comic.

The protagonist of that comic is a very passionate person, like an unkillable cockroach. He is not afraid of any setbacks and will bravely stand up and challenge difficulties again.

He pursed his lips.

He also wanted to be as brave as the protagonist in the comic.

Being brave is so hard.

It's not something you can do just by talking about it.

What comes before courage—

It was tears.

Tears soaked all his courage, leaving him helpless. More than overcoming his immediate fear, he realized—

Why are you crying?

Because of his tears, he forgot how to be brave.

As a result, he missed out on a lot of courage.

But he himself didn't realize what was happening.

night.

Shen's father sneaked in.

Seeing his youngest son's unhappy face, gloomy like a low-pressure cloud, he tenderly ruffled his son's hair.

"Ah Que, don't be sad. Your mother meant well."

Shen Lan lowered her head, and said, "I understand... I'm just angry that I'm too fragile and made Mom worry."

Hearing his son's sensible words, Mr. Shen felt sorry for his overindulgent son again.

“Ah Que, since seeing a psychologist isn’t working, let’s change our environment.”

Shen Lan tilted her head: "A change of environment?"

"Hmm, maybe you'll be fine in a different environment? Dad has seen some examples where you might not feel comfortable around family members."

"Dad will have the host's aunt and bodyguard take you there, okay?"

The housekeeper's aunt and bodyguards were all personally trained by Grandpa Shen.

The purpose is to have a loyal person to assist them with small matters at any time.

The housekeeper's aunt and bodyguard never spoke ill of Shen Lanque, and would take good care of her.

Shen's father always looked for external reasons. He often wondered if the servants in the house had said anything about Shen Lanque, otherwise why would his good son become even more gloomy?

But he never managed to catch them red-handed, and he didn't know whether the servants actually complied with his verbal requests.

When he asked Shen Lanque, the little brat kept silent.

This made him even more depressed.

Sometimes he really wanted to shake his son and make him speak, to stop him from being a mute, but his sense of propriety made him stop.

*

Finally, Shen Lan took a row of servants and a row of bodyguards to the countryside, heading straight for Fei Zexi.

When he first arrived in the countryside, he became interested in the surrounding environment.

The bodyguard suggested driving in, but Shen Lan refused.

With my feet on the cracked cement ground exposed to the sun, I gazed at the wheat fields not far away, where golden ears of wheat swayed in the wind.

The sun was shining brightly overhead, half of it hidden behind dark clouds, making it cool but not cold.

He heard the sound from afar:

"Ye Qi, wait for me!"

"Hehe! I'm still the fastest!"

"Charge! My heroes and I will not lose to you!"

A petite figure rode up on a black bicycle with pink accents, her face beaming with a light and bright smile.

The girl rode her bicycle straight past him, brushing past him.

Immediately afterward, a young boy arrived.

The boy stood up and pedaled his bicycle, his face flushed, as if determined to win this contest.

"I refuse to believe I can lose again!"

He watched as the boy brushed past him.

Shen Lanque had always had a good memory; he had seen this boy before.

We met at a banquet.

He remembered that the boy in his memory was not as vibrant and radiant as the one before him.

Like him, she stood alone in a corner of the banquet, refusing to let anyone approach her.

Before he could react, two bicycles followed closely behind the boy.

One of them even put a Gundam on his bicycle to motivate himself.

"Charge!"
